I think we can safely say there are going to be flashbacks. I'm looking forward to seeing Ariel making friends with Flounder (I guess we're supposed to forget we already saw that in the TV series). I just wish there was a clip of Ariel singing in the trailer! Apparently the new songs are gonna be really good.

I just wish there was a clip of Ariel singing in the trailer! Apparently the new songs are gonna be really good. Either that, or they are going to come up with some excuse to make it seem like they met each other now by mentioning something along the lines of Ariel having a different hairstyle and facial structure back then. You know, like in the Simpson's episode that mentions that, contrary to popular belief, Homer and Marge actually met each other in a divided summer camp instead of at High school by saying that Marge had a different hairstyle back then (not to mention hair color). In regards to the film itself, I just hope they would give Ariel's mom an appearance. Even if it's just a 15-second flashback, it's good enough for me, so long as the Disney creators AT LEAST keep their promise and show Athena in one form or another. I mean, It really ticks me off that some producers say something that they would do in preproduction, but then overturn it anyways. I mean, if they felt that they can't have it happen, they SHOULDN'T TELL THE AUDIENCE!!! But at least theres hope, since they still have that man (Triton) and lady (I think Athena) in that holo-music box (strangely enough, the Music Box in itself seems to remind me of the Holonet devices from "Star Wars"). I might check the site, though I might not watch the preview, since I have already seen stills from it. Speaking of which, Did Ariel travel back in time or something? I mean, Ariel encounters her dad with a red beard/red hair in one scene (As a matter of fact, the scene in question has been posted by our very own ~*~ Sirenita ~*~), And I don't think It took place during the present age of the movie because one of the screenshots from the beginning preview shows the silver/white haired Triton we commonly see.

i love the animation, but one thing that bothers me that they can't re-create the ariel/flounder meeting coz we already saw it in the series..i mean common..the series still gets played on disney channel, no one at disney took notice that they already brought the first meeting up and they looked very different than in here..thats very weird..and un-profesional..but i do love the animation and i am soo excited as an ariel fan for the new movie..

I Did Ariel travel back in time or something? I mean, Ariel encounters her dad with a red beard/red hair in one scene (As a matter of fact, the scene in question has been posted by our very own ~*~ Sirenita ~*~), And I don't think It took place during the present age of the movie because one of the screenshots from the beginning preview shows the silver/white haired Triton we commonly see. Triton with the red beard would probably be part of a flashback. I showed this and asked this in other forums, and I think this forum needs it most of all: How does this look good, or wonderful, or amazing? First of all, the story is still just about Ariel finding Sebastian at a music club and bringing music back to Atlantica. We don't really have any scenes that give us anything more about the plot. All we see that's worth excitement is Ariel and Flounder's first meeting, which we already saw in the TV series, and everyone looks younger and Triton has red hair, like in the TV series. And the animation sucks. It does. I know Ariel is supposed to be younger, but she looks too far away from the mermaid we know, not because of her younger design but because they drew her poorly. Ariel looks younger in the Sneak Peek from the DVD, but she looked more like herself and she looked better there. Do you want me to show you what I mean? The Sneak Peek is on the left, the trailer is on the right: Now here's our favorite mermaid in the original movie: Now you tell me, does our original, real Ariel look more like the Sneak Peek or the trailer? Does she look enough like either at all? Ariel's proportions are all wrong. Sure, her eyes are supposed to be big but not that big, same for her mouth. Everything just looks off, incorrect, different. And it just looks bad. Here's another example of the trailer looking horrible on the left next to our beautiful original movie on the right: Notice Ariel's head and arms are out of proportion to the rest of her body, but the movie looks much better. Not to mention everything moves badly, too. Everything moves like a blob. The animation is bad, not near the movie's, and the story is not as good as the original movie either. Ariel disobeys her father all the time in the movie, of course she'll dabble in music when it's forbidden. Unless we see better clips of the movie, and we hear of better things that happen in the story, this will suck. Or rather, this will not be anywhere near the movie we all love. But even if you love the TV series, the animation in that was actually better, Ariel was younger but she still looked better than in the trailer, and stories for television don't need to be as compelling as stories for films. If you wanted a horribly animated lame story for Ariel, you've got it.

Keep in mind that this IS a sequel. They never amount to the greatness that is the original movie. Plus, screen caps aren't always the best at pointing out flaws; Ariel is always in motion, that's probably why she looks a bit wonky. She also looks weird in some parts of the original movie, but do u see people complaining about that? How can someone judge so harshly on a product that hasn't even hit the market yet? There are so many good things to consider, and you're just pointing out all the "flaws" and the "stupid" plotline.
I'm not trying to flame on anything, that's just my two cents worth.

to be honest this is soo stupid and un-professional of disney to re-do a scene that people alrerady saw in the sneak peak...peaople will be looking forward to see it in the movie and they will see it totally different...i prefer the one on the dvd than the new one..ariel does atleast look like herself in the sneak peak...the other thing that bothers me is ariel and flounder meeting again...different than they met in the series..common is it just any stories or it should atleast match together...if your gonna stick to the same movie and characters you have to follow what has happened before other wise people will start to get disapointed...

that makes me think that disney doesnt actually care about their stories..like when we see story books of ariel in different stories we would know its just a story that came on their mind for a sec..and they used it on beloved characters....there is no link between any..

Agree with every word. They never make character on-model (for exmaple-even Cinderella in Cinderella III was off-model and even Ariel in the original film) so this is wonderful (and Enchanted Tales had the Princess on model but that's not a sequel). Anyway it looks really wonderful and i love it,i"m exiting for the film .

Disney has never ever ever been good at keeping continuity between movies/tv series/sequels. Not to mention books and other stuff. Just try not to dwell on it.

Yeah, there is a book of Ariel pretending that she's merrying Eric with Eric statue and in the film she had it for a moment and then Tirton destroyed it (also in The Little Mermaid II she swim to her grotto and her collection is allright,in the film Triton destroyed it).

Not everyone’s seen the series. And not everyone (myself included) liked the way they met. About the animation, I really like it. I didn’t like the animation from the sneak peek from the DVD at all. I hope they re-did it. I think it may end up being a very good movie, we can wait till August. So here’s my idea for the plot. Okay, I’m willing to admit we see two different looking Ariels in the clips. One looks about 14, the other 15. We also see a gray-haired Triton and later a red-head Triton (which keeps canon to the series) which I think proves we will get flashbacks. We see the sisters in the clip and I don’t Disney would have added them unless they would be major in the movie. From the teaser site we see a music box which seems to have Triton and his wife swimming together in the middle. So, this is my rough idea. Triton has forbidden music from Atlantic, possibly for his wife (but I don’t see Disney being that bold). Ariel sets out to change that, and I think the music box will play into that. After she meets Flounder, I think he takes her to the night club. I don’t know how she’ll know Sebastian, though. The rest I have no idea about, and I am anticipating how Marina Del Ray fits into this. And don’t forget, this movie is supposed to be so good Disney added scenes to it. P.S. I think I recognize some of my friends from UD on here

I'm impressed, actually...she looks a lot better than she did in the second movie. The animation looks a little strange, but it's not exactly unappealing.
