I think this is the best fanfic of this forum! I absolutely love it and I have probably read it everday when I come home from school just to see if anything has been added. Not yet, so let me take this time to ENCOURAGE YOU TO WRITE THE NEXT PART! WHAT HAPPENS TO ERIC AND ARIEL! I can't take the suspense anymore. It's vertually killing me. Keep up the good work though. You ROCK!

I've checked it's hasn't even finished Chapter 2 yet. Maybe we could finish it for them here on the forum. Do you want to go first?

Do you have the website address? If you could give it to me that would be great. As far as me writing fanfics, well...it's not that good. I have written a few but i don't know how to submit them.

I'm here. No contiuation allowed. The story is finished in my head, I'm just having a hard time getting a few details tweaked so it will translate well to paper/reading. It is stirring around again "upstairs" and making noises at me. I don't remember exactly where my paper version leaves off and if this thread is actually up to date, so I'll have to pull the folder and do some comparison. It WILL be finished, I can assure you that. I just don't know when.

Hey, just wanted to let you know some of my thoughts on this story.
1) I love the way you took a few seemingly simple plot-lines and expanded them over time. Everything flows wonderfully.
2) I also like your characterization. It's true to the movie/series, but I can still detect your personal touch.
3) Exposition about Eric's family/past: Whee! Fun stuff.
4) Pirates. 'Nuff said.
5) Eric's the 'damsel' in distress. Awesomeness.
In short: Marry me. We could make beautiful fanfic together.
OK, the proposal wasn't exactly serious, but my love and appreciation for this story is. Update soon, please!

I've had a blast writing in partnerships before. How about after our solo stories are finished we team up and see what happens? We seem to have the same "take" on things and both enjoy giving Eric some time in the spotlight.
I have more ready to type up, it's just a matter of finding the time to sit down and do it, where I don't lose my train of thought. I've sort of been kicked out of my room for a few days, so I have no idea when the next bit will get typed!

Sounds like a plan-after our current stories are finished of course. Good luck on getting some alone time to type.

I plan to get some of it typed up tomorrow. Between working more than usual and not feeling well, I just haven't felt like sitting down and doing it.

Part V- Revelations
Eric leaned back against the rock wall behind him and sighed. Boy am I in a mess this time!
And on top of being captured, Black had pushed him down the stairs to the brig and Eric had lost his balance and tumbled down the stairs- spraining his ankle along the way. He'd managed to get his boot off before the swelling became too bad, but Black had taken that as an invitation to swipe Eric's other boot. Now the prince was shoeless.
My favorite pair too.
“Ahoy there,” a soft voice called.
Eric looked to his right and saw a face peering through a crack in the rock. “Nice to have a new face to talk to,” the man added.
“Does this channel go all the way through the rock?” Eric asked, motioning to the water.
“Yup. It goes into the rock though. Can't get out that way. Already tried.” The man paused a moment, then continued. “Now, if you're skinny like the guy on my other side, you can get through this hole and move around some.”
Eric was smiling and looking at the water during that last sentence. If there was a way into the channel from the outside, Ariel would find it. He turned his attention to the other man. “Why do they have you?”
“Ransom of course. Black is nothing if not greedy,” was the answer. “Only nobody's gonna pay to get me back. You?”
“Ransom.”
The man snapped his fingers. “Now I know who you are! Black's been talking about nabbing a prince that knows a mermaid. Would that be you?”
“The prince part is true. I don't know where he got the mermaid idea.” Eric was determined to stay silent about Ariel. He had no way of knowing if Black had put this man here to get information. “Name's Eric.”
“I'm known as Mason. Hmm... That name is familiar. Don't go anywhere!”
The man's head disappeared and Eric rolled his eyes. “As if I could get out,” he mumbled. He then turned his gaze to the water.
A moment later, a red head surfaced. Eric smiled, glanced around to make sure no was watching, then knelt at the water's edge.
Ariel raised up to meet him in a kiss. “Are you alright?” she asked when they broke apart.
Eric nodded. Ariel gently touched the bruise on his left cheekbone. “No you're not. I saw you limping.”
Eric wrapped his hand around her delicate fingers. “It will heal. I'm alright.”
She nodded. “What do you need me to do?”
“When Captain Davis arrives, bring him here. Grimsby is supposed to come back with him. And promise me that you won't come to the surface until he gets here.”
Ariel nodded her consent. “But I won't promise to not come check on you.”
Eric smiled. “I don't want you to.” He cupped her face in his hands and kissed her again. “Go.”
She touched his face, then disappeared beneath the surface. Eric went back over to the wall and pulled his cloak around him. It was getting chilly, and he knew he was in a long night.
***
“Well, that doesn't mean he's my nephew!”
“It's worth a try isn't it? Don't you want out? Besides, John, you can get through the hole to see if you do know him.”
The other man sighed in frustration. “If it'll make you shut up about it, yes, I'll go look.”
“Yes, it will make me shut up.” Mason watched the other man as they waited for the pirates to settle down for the night. He'd been here for four years now. Black had let the John's companion- his brother, go two years before. But he had been so ill and so hurt that John highly doubted he had made it home alive. John himself had finally accepted that he would most likely die here, that he would never see his home again.
The pirates finally passed out, having consumed nearly all the rum in the cavern. John slowly and quietly picked his way over to the crack, turned sideways and slipped through the crack into the newly occupied cell.
A young man lay curled on the floor, sound asleep. John put his hand on the wall to steady himself and silently crept up so he could see the person's face. He caught sight of jet black hair and held his breath.
Two more feet and John sank to his knees. He reached out and laid a hand on the man's shoulder, gently shaking him. “Eric.”
Eric slowly opened his eyes and saw someone kneeling in front of him. This person knew his name, and Eric knew that voice. He sat up, studying the person in front of him. Then he smiled hugely as recognition dawned. “Uncle John!”
John embraced his nephew. “What are you doing here?”
“It's a long story,” Eric answered. “Can that other man be trusted?”
John shook his head. “I don't.”
Lowering his voice, Eric told the story. He told John about the shipwreck, Ariel's voice, her three days on land, Ursula, and the battle for their lives. Then he told how Triton had refused to let them be together, ending with his capture by Black.
“Wow,” was all John could say when Eric was finished. “There's a city down there?”
“Countries,” Eric corrected. “Atlantica is just the biggest one, and closest to us.”
“That's incredible.” John's face bore a slightly shell-shocked look. “I can't believe you're finally in love either. I didn't think your dream girl could even exist.”
Eric smiled.

Ariel swam back to Pacifica as fast as she could. Eric had placed his life in her hands. I have to find Daddy!
She didn't have to look very far because he was waiting for her.
“Ariel, where you have been?” Triton hugged his daughter for he had been very worried.
“Daddy, Eric's been kidnapped by pirates! They took him away and I followed them.”
Triton's first instinct was to scold his youngest daughter for putting herself in a position where she could have been killed. But he stopped. If she had followed the pirates because they had taken Eric, her love for him would make her stay out of sight.
“Is he alright?”
Ariel nodded. “For now.” A single tear slipped down her face. “I can't leave him, Daddy,” she whispered.
Triton wiped the tear away. “I know. What do you need to do?”
Ariel's heart surged with hope. “He sent Grimsby back to get Captain Davis- the captain of his navy. I have to show him where the pirates are hiding.”
Triton nodded, then steered his daughter into the castle and led her towards her room. “How long until he gets here?”
“Three or four days,” Ariel answered, stifling a yawn. She let Triton lead her into her room. “We can't leave, Daddy.”
“We won't,” he assured. “Get some sleep.”
Ariel slipped beneath the covers on the bed and was soon fast asleep.
The next morning, she awoke with a start, remembering the events of the day before. “Eric's ok. He's not hurt,” she told herself as she got up and went to breakfast.
But she was wrong.
