This is a fanfic that takes place before the movie and disregards the series. If anyone is confused about the Gargoyles characters, here's a website that may help you, www.gargoyles-fans.org/characters/index.htm. I'll either update this everyday (I have 3 other chapters written so far), or every week. ____________________________________________________ MERMAIDS AND GARGOYLES
CHAPTER ONE: VISITOR “Ariel, you’re not going to do it again, are you?” asked the little yellow fish. “Oh, Flounder, there’s nothing to worry about!” replied the red-haired mermaid. “But your father!” stamped the guppy. “Oh, daddy just doesn’t understand. At least, not yet. Maybe someday he will, though.” “But Ariel!” whined Flounder. But Ariel kept on swimming. Soon, she broke to the surface of the water. It was a beautiful night, and the full moon was shining brightly. Ariel swam over to her familiar rock, the rock her friend always knew where to find her. She squinted. “There he is, Flounder!” said Ariel. “Oh, great…” Flounder replied. A large winged creature landed on the rock next to Ariel. He was a big. Really big. He had two jet black wings, a long tail, sharp talons, and a human like face. Unbeknownst to Ariel and Flounder, he was called a gargoyle. “Mason! So nice to see you tonight! I found a really interesting human object,” said the little mermaid. “Hello, Ariel. It’s nice to see you, too. But before you show me that, I need to tell you something,” said the dark figure. “What is it? What’s wrong!” asked the little mermaid, impatiently. Mason was a good friend, and he was her connection to the human world. “You see, Ariel, not all of my kind is good. One of us in particular, is very evil. And she has come here. My clan, the Beach Clan, was betrayed by one of our members to the demon. She knows a secret amulet, one of which my kind hid underneath the sea a thousand years ago. And now she wants to obtain it, and by doing so she can take control of the sea. She could destroy man-kind!” explained the creature. “How can I help?” Ariel replied. “I’m glad you asked. It’ll be dangerous, Ariel-“ began the gargoyle. “Dangerous!” interrupted Flounder. “Hush, Flounder,” reprimanded Ariel, “We’d be glad to help. Tell us more.” “You’ll have to go into a secret cavern underneath the sea to get it. It won’t be easy, Ariel. Not at all,” added Mason. “Don’t worry about me, Mason! I can do it!” said Ariel, “And Flounder will help me, right?” “Right, Ariel…” said the fish unenthusiastically. Then there was a loud shriek that pierced through the night. Flounder, the guppy that he was, swam back under the surface, quick as a snap. Ariel, although a little startled herself said, “Don’t worry Mason. We’ll help you.” “Thank you, Ariel. Your help is greatly appreciated,” thanked Mason. “Don’t mention it,” replied Ariel. “I must go now, Ariel, and tell my clan of this news. Oh, wait! I forgot something,” he then pulled out of his pockets a map, “You can use this to find the cavern,” he then spread out his wings out and took off. “Good bye!” he called. Ariel sat on her rock for a little, watching her good friend fly off. Then she jumped back down into the sea.

Gargoyles and TLM- Oh Yeah!
The demon wouldn't end up being Demona would it? 'Cause that'd be awesome! Through in Macbeth and I'd be hooked!
I'd like it if chapters were a little bit longer, but that's entirely your choice.
The only thing I'm not sure about is Mason-I'm generally not a fan of OCs (though there are exceptions, and he may end up being one of them).
A very promising start!

You'll learn who the demon is in the third chapter... I would have loved to have included MacBeth, but he didn't quite fit with this story. I plan to make this story a bit more about the villians and a hero we know from the movie (not Ariel). I wish I could make long chapters, but I'm just not good at that! I'm getting better, though, I think. So by the time my sequel to this story comes out they might be longer... And Mason... Hmm... I'm not sure what OC means, but I assume it means characters created by the author, not in the original source. If so, I agree with you. I had to have another gargoyle other than um... you know who. If Goliath hadn't been asleep at the time, he would have been Mason. He's dosen't have a big part (which I think is a weakness in my story), but I'm trying to find a spot where he can be used. Thanks for the feedback, btw!

The next chapter. At first you may wonder why I wrote this installment, but you'll understand later. BTW, WickedElphie, have you read any of the new Gargoyles comics? They're great! ____________________________________________________ MERMAIDS AND GARGOYLES CHAPTER TWO: TRITON The king of the merpeople sat on his throne, holding his staff in hand. His friendly advisor, a little red Jamaican crab, sat on his shoulder. The crab, Sebastian, was telling him of all his duties for that day. “Sebastian,” the king abruptly interrupted the crab, “don’t you think it’s time for a change?” “Why, are you bored?” asked the crab. “I guess we could get some new wallpaper in here! Maybe I could start up a little band, for you?” “No, no, no, “ said the king, “Although, that band idea isn’t too bad,” Sebastian smiled. “No, I’m tired of this staff! I can’t use it!” “Ah! Are we going through a mid-life crisis?” suggested the crab. “We could go out and buy a bigger staff.” “No, never mind, never mind,” A cook entered the throne room. “Dinner is served, your highness,” he said. Triton and Sebastian swam into the dinner room were six of Triton’s daughters already were. “Where’s Ariel?” asked the King. “Oh, she left an hour ago,” answered her oldest sister. “And she’s not back home?” asked the king. “No, daddy, she’s not,” answered another one. “How usual,” replied Sebastian. The family went on eating their meal. It was usual for Ariel to be late, but this time she wasn’t back, even after the meal was done. Triton was mad. He swam into Ariel room, and burst the door open. “Oh, hello, Daddy!” said Ariel. “Oh, um, hello Ariel, and hello Flounder,” stuttered the merman. “I um… just wanted to check up on you.” “Daddy, is it alright if Flounder slept over here tonight?” asked Ariel. “Oh, yeah, sure. Well, good night,” said Triton. He shut the door. Then, Ariel pulled out the sheets of paper she had stuffed under her bed right before her father had come in. “Okay, Flounder. This is what we’ll do,” began the mermaid. “When everyone in the castle is asleep we’ll go out and find this cavern,” she said, pointing to the cavern on the map, “Then we’ll get the amulet, and tomorrow night we’ll give it to Mason, got it?” “Okay, Ariel, I understand,” replied Flounder. “Oh, and Flounder, thank you for helping me. You’re a great friend!” said Ariel, hugging Flounder. Flounder hugged her back, at least the best he could with his small little fins, and then they went back on talking.

Ariel and Flounder are so cute! I love the interaction between Triton and Sebastian too.
I own #1-7 and Bad Guys #1 of the Gargoyles comics (i.e. all of them). I love them too! Especially #7, being that I'm so fond of Macbeth.

My favorite issue so far has been Garg #6. I just love the Avalon World Tour. I was also surprised how good "Bad Guys" was. I didn't really expect anything, but it was great! Once again, thanks for the feedback!

No problem.
BTW OC=Original Character. i.e. Mason or Aquisha's characters Ethan, Tony, Charlotte, and James.
Not to be confused with OOC, which = Out Of Character. That is an established character acting in a way which does not ring true to his or her personality. This would be something like pre-Ariel/Eric marriage Triton being all, "Humans yay!"

This is where the story really begins! ____________________________________________________ MERMAIDS AND GARGOYLES CHAPTER THREE: A DEAL “So, I’ve heard you’re in need of some magical assistance,” said a voice from the dark. “Who’s there?” asked Demona from the back of her cave. “Just a magical being whom can make your greatest dreams come true,” replied the voice. “I’d just like to see you try!” spat Demona. “Honey, I could do it with a snap of my fingers… For a price, that is,” added the witch. “Ah-ha! There’s a catch! I knew it!” spat the gargoyle. “It’s not much of one. And nothing you’ll miss. Why you may even enjoy doing it,” said the voice as it stepped into the light. Demona could see a large purple woman, with strange, gray, hair, and tentacles for legs. “Tell me what you want, then,” replied Demona. “What I want from you,” said Ursula, “is a human soul.” “Are you blind? Can you not see that I am a gargoyle!” replied Demona. “I didn’t say I needed your soul, but just a human soul. Then I’ll give you temporary fins,” explained Ursula. “Hmm… I understand,” contemplated Demona, “But, why do you need a human soul?” “Let’s just say I plan to use it later. How do you think I can give you fins? From a mermaid soul, of course. But just not any mermaid soul. A royal mermaid soul. And I’ll need a royal human soul, too,” said the witch. “Fine, then. I’ll get you your human soul. But I plan to have some fun with it first!” replied Demona. “No you can’t kill it! It has to be alive, otherwise I can’t use the soul!” said Ursula. Demona gave a look of discontent, but walked out of the cave and flew out into the darkness of the night.

Yays! Demona and Ursula! Although bizarely, I could see Demona getting along w/ King Triton. They both HATE humans and are very protective of their clan/kingdom/family. Well, gosh golly gee wiz, I do wonder which royal soul Ursula has in mind. Alos, in terms of mythos I wonder if the merpeople, Sharkanians, etc. are descended from some of the less-powerful childeren of Oberon. Ursula certainly seems as if she could have been.

Demona hated humans a lot more than I think Triton did. I think Triton found them more of a nuisance, like a pest.

Strictly talking about the movie, I think Triton would give Demona a run for her money. He, unlike her, would never actively kill one, but he does say flat out that Ariel should have let Eric drown. "One less human to worry about."

This and the next chapters are the shortest of the story. After that they get a bit longer. ___________________________________________________ MERMAIDS AND GARGOYLES CHAPTER FOUR: A FEUD “Father, you just don’t understand!” said the young prince. “I understand plenty enough, young man!” stamped his father. “But-“ began Eric. “But nothing! I don’t want you out on the sea anymore! Do you understand me?” yelled the angered king. “Now get in your room!” The prince marched into his room, his father watching his every move. “Grimsby, my good friend,” said the tired king after his son had left, “do you think I’m being too hard on him?” “Why not at all, sir! Why if I had had any children myself, I would have made them obey my every word!” replied the old man. “Your right, Grim. You are,” said the king as Grimsby smiled broadly, “Which is exactly why I want you to watch over him,” Grimsby’s smile was soon erased. “What?” he asked. “You could manage him. You managed me when I was his age, and that was no easy task,” the king smiled and walked into another room. Meanwhile, Eric was on his balcony, preparing to climb down a rope of clothing and escape to the beach. Then, out of nowhere, Demona swooped down and grabbed him by the shirt. Right at that moment, Grimsby walked into his room. He heard the prince’s cries for help and rushed out to the balcony. He was able to see where Demona was taking him and he quickly ran into the king’s bedroom. “Sir! A gargoyle has kidnapped the Prince!”

YES! ERIC! Whoot! Poor little dude. (Well, not so little. He's in his teens-but still.)
Oh-did Ursula kill Ariel's mom? 'Cause that's kinda nifty-in a morbid sort of way.
Longer chapters= a happy Elphie, so I look forward to those.

Eric sounds too much like Ariel and Grimsby like Sebastian. Poor Eric, does Ariel will rescue him? . I always felt that TLM was a little superficial, so with Eric at least being similar to Ariel we know they have some things in common. I might have taken it over board a bit, but hopefully the message got across. And anyway, I always thought Grimsby would be like Sebastian if we ever saw more of him. He's just never gotten as loose with his charges as Sebastian has, but I do think they would be similar, and possibly friends. Once again I'm typing on a different computer. I probably won't get the next chapter up till 8... hmm... By the way, Happy Early Valentines Day!
