I think this is the best decade for classic Disney. I like every single one of these movies. It's really difficult to choose one, but I think my fav is Cinderella. Alice in Wonderland is one of the best stories ever, but Disney didn't get it right in my opinion.

I like Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella. It's hard to pick.

Sleeping Beauty even though I haven't seen it in awhile. It scared me as a kid but I still liked it anyways.

the animation of all early Disney movies was so amazing. Snow White takes the cake in my opinion, but out of these....I'd have to say Sleeping Beauty. I don't know why, but I fell in love with that one the first time I saw it. I've never really liked Cinderella all that much...Alice In Wonderland was fun, but we never owned it so I barely watched it (she seemed kinda snooty to me). The new techniques used on Sleeping Beauty were really interesting, I think the lines (early cell shading?) really caught me. Not to mention maleficent, who is a true queen among the villains (thrid in line after Ursula and Scar, shortly followed by Madame Medusa;)

Cinderella, no doubt. So sweet and warm, and I really love some minor characters (mice, Anastasia - including her character development in the sequels, obviously, - and the Fairy Godmother). But Lady and the Tramp movie was really good too.
And Alice in Wonderland was the worst one (though I like Lewis Carroll's books). It, in my opinion, has no sense at all, just random adventures, and bears no spirit of the original story. (The songs were not bad anyway)

And the thing with Alice in Wonderland is just about everything in the Disney version wasn't from Wonderland, it was from Through The Looking Glass. Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum for example, they were in Looking Glass.

I'm surprised Sleeping Beauty is in the lead. It's definitely my least fav from the 50s. I like the movie overall, but I hate Aurora. I always thought she was the stupidest Disney character ever. About Alice, I can kinda understand them using stuff from Looking Glass if they didn't want to make two movies, but I completely agree with Prince Florian that the spirit of the book is not there at all! If you want a good movie of Alice, try the 80s TV version.

How can you hate Aurora? why do think she's stupid? she's one of the greatest Disney characters and heroes ever .

Goodness! ALL of these are some of my favorites. I didn't realize how good the 50's was for Disney. I'm definitely going with Cinderella. That is VERY much an original classic. I know you could say the same for Sleeping Beauty, but I think Cinderella is more interesting. Sleeping Beauty, I love Aurora, but the movie is kinda boring until the end.....

I voted for Cinderella but it was in tie with Lady & the Tramp & Alice in Wonderland

I love all of them, no exception, but I think Sleeping Beauty is the best one. It is visually stunning, has a great plot, has amazing animation (especially from Marc Davis), and is truly a CLASSIC in every way. Cinderella has the sweetness and magic, Alice has that dreamy abstract feel, Peter Pan has the innocence, Lady has the charm... But I think Sleeping Beauty is the Disneyest movie out of the group

Alice in Wonderland has to be my favourite though i do agree that most of it was based from through the looking glass and they took out most of my favourite bits but it was a great film I would recommend the orignal books over the film. The film was fun and different.

Definitely Alice in Wonderland! It's definitely up there with my top favorite Disney movies.
I'm a huge Alice fan to begin with. I've read Alice in Wonderland: And Through the Looking Glass too many times to count! I have to say, I think I prefer Alice in Wonderland over Through the Looking Glass.
I also did like the live action film that had the gryphon and mock turtle. That movie was obviously much more true to the book than the Disney version. But I think I prefer the Disney one. They both bring something different/special to the table. :]

My favorite's Cinderella. I'm one here who like it more than The Little Mermaid! I love all the magic, the castles and chateau, the ballgowns, the clock, the pumpkin, the slipper, and Lucifer! A Disney movie where the animals are truly funny. And gotta love the animation and colors, lots of purple, my favorite!
Now, I see it as a wonderful film where Cinderella achieves her dreams of happiness through believing in them and never giving up on them somehow coming true.

Sleeping Beauty. It just feels so epic, and the art is gorgeous. I'm looking forward to the re-release!
