This might sounds silly but... I"m worried about the Princesses,it's like the Fairies are trying to replace them, the Princesses always got lots attention (Or most of the attention) but now they got less attention and the Fairies gets more attention. First Ariel got kicked out of her grotto and the Fairies now have Pixie Hollow there insted and now the Sleeping Beauty Platinum Edition got less promotion then TinkerBell (TinkerBell gots lots of promotion and merchandise,Sleeping Beauty got less, for exmaple they didn't even made a Sleeping Beauty DS game but TinkerBell did got a DS game, thought they did made Princesses games for Enchanted Tales). I like TinkerBell and the Fairies line and (I think that TinkerBell is my favorite Disney character who isn't a Princess) but I"m worried about the Princesses and thought now the Fairies are making their debut and next year they"re having promotion for both Snow White Platinum Edition and The Princess And The Frog and Ariel will have a new atterction in the Disney parks but still. What do you think?.

I think next year we'll have more Princesses than Fairies.
Just because the Disney Fairies DVD debuted this year.

Well,I love the Fairies line and Tink but I"m worried about the how the Princess aren't getting much attention,I have never seen it like this. I think you"re right and next year we"ll see more of the Princesses and huge promotions for Tiana and Snow White, then Belle and Rapunzel will have promotions for their films and then maybe the Fairies will get atttention like they do this year.

Yeah, great new website much better then the old one but there things I didn't liked (First of all Giselle should be there, she's official and it's annoys that she's not there and also why Ariel is a human? and her page is in Eric's kingdom above the sea? she should be a mermaid and her page needs be in Atlantica underwater).

I was never really a fan of the Princess franchise.
They focus on one thing more then another, the girls I want to see are rarely featured at all.
Which is why Little Mermaid should be pulled out to stand on it's own.

I really loved the Princess line, thought I agree with you that it's sad they focus on some Princesses and the other Princesses get underrated (Like they focus more on Princesses like Ariel,Aurora and Cinderella then Giselle (Thought I think it's because they have problems with her, otherwise she whould have got lots of attention just like Cinderella and Aurora),Jasmine and Pocahontas) and fans of the underrated Princesses are disappointed,Pocahontas for example only has 2 cliparts and I think that she's the most underrated Princess,Giselle is missing in a few things and more. Thought I"m disappointed that Ariel is mostly a human now. But still, and Ariel does have lots of spots in the line,Mulan does gets a little attention thought she's underrated (She even had a Jeweled dress).

The site is really charming, I love how they have the music to each princess in the background.
Although I too dislike the princess line for the most part, I like seeing Ariel as a human with the rest of the princesses. It finally makes her seem like part of the Disney Princess family and[/] makes her so much more unique when she's shown as a mermaid. In a way it keeps all her charm intact. Seeing her stand in front of ''Eric's'' castle in the pink dress with the music just seems fitting. Besides, Ariel now has 2 exclusive websites and a feature on the main Princess page and will probably get a third website when TLM2 is re-released.
It's cool Pocahontas and Mulan are there. It took long enough for Mulan to get a spot, EVERYONE seems to like that movie. I think Disney isn't sure what to do now that there's an abundance of princesses. Keep the classics that have sold for so long or throw everyone together..it's more than obvious Disney has problems with merchandising as everyone knows and a lot of us seem to mention in almost every post(sorry^^) but I'm really excited to see what can be done once the Princess and the Frog comes into play. If they play their cards right they can capitalize on every single princess seperately and all of them together. Just....loose.....so....MUCH.....PINK!!!!
I wouldn't worry too much about the fairies, for as long as I can remember Tink has always held her own on pretty much the same level as the princesses together, but she'll never surpass.

I don't think that the princess will ever get replace with the faries. By the way I really don't like the fariys. They take everything out of Ariel or the princess.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the Princess franchise! It's such a load of crap. Just look what I saw when I was shopping a few days ago... I thought the tacky doll of Belle looked nothing like her, but look at Phillipe!!!! I hope I live to see the end of the stupid Princess line.

macgregor-I disagree,I think she fits much more as a mermaid then a human, she should have been a mermaid, also I really wants to see Giselle in the website,Tink and the Fairies had a place with the Princesses and I"m sure she"ll keep being sucessful. Random Prince-That doll is weird,I agree about that ugly hourse but about Belle, every Belle doll (Not just Simba Toys and I think even dolls that were made before the Princess line) looks the same as this doll, yeah, she actually looks like Ariel but still (And I have worse Cinderella dolls that looks nothing like her). I don't think that the line will ever (And why end it? it's about Ariel and other Disney female heroes and their films) unless the Princesses won't be sucessful anymore but I don't think that will ever happen.

I don't think that the line will ever (And why end it? it's about Ariel and other Disney female heroes and their films) But that's exactly the problem I have with the Disney Princesses franchise. It's not really about those amazing Disney characters. It just exploits them to make money. The characters in the movies don't even act like Princesses (except for Aurora, which is weird considering she doesn't want to be one). They are fun, adventurous, hard working, strong and intelligent. They teach kids that being a good person is more important than looking beautiful on the outside. But the Disney Princesses are the complete opposite! Any kind of substance is gone and all they teach kids is that if you want to be beautiful and popular, all you have to do is put on a pink dress and a ton of makeup, clasp your hands together in some ridiculous pose that makes you look like you've just had your brain removed, and behave accordingly. All it does is encourage little girls to be vain and bratty. The whole thing reminds me more of the Evil Queen than any of the characters it's actually supposed to be representing. Another reason I hate the Princess franchise is because it is way too gender specific. It used to be the case that anyone could enjoy and learn from these incredible movies and characters. Now Disney think they have a target demographic or whatever, so if the movie has female lead character that they can abuse, it's just for girls. When TLM was released in 1989, long before the Princess franchise, it was for everybody to enjoy. When the DVD was released over here in 2006, it had a great big pink sticker on the front saying "the perfect gift for girls". Generations of boys are being put off these movies and they are really missing out. :( Just look at these pictures... Do you really not see a big difference between this "Disney Princess" and the character in the movie?

I believe the Fairie movies are good. I enjoyed Tinkerbell. But I've noticed that the Fairies movies are getting more attention then Disney Princesses right now. No matter what they say is popular, my vote will always be towards the disney princesses.

That's exactly it. Amen to all you said, Random Prince. I didn't fall in love with Ariel because she loves to wear ball gowns and surround herself in pink. I fell in love with Ariel because she was fun and adventurous, kind and caring, hopefully, imaginative, always going for her dreams and never letting go. Disney has taken all these wonderful characters out of context, stripped them of who they are and everything they stood for, and uses their face to get money. Extort money is a better way to put it, they've been deceiving people(children and little girls especially) for years. The princess line is a huge reason why so many people dislike Disney and start to hate the classics they once loved when they grow up. It's funny tho because the solution to the problem is SIMPLE: Keep the Princess franchise. Use a group shot where they're all dressed up in their original ball gowns with the Disney Princess logo as to establish the fact they're all Disney characters(they'll be seen as Disney heroines but because they're in their original designs your mind makes the connection to the individual movies and everything you loved about the movie, but because it's only the princesses present it your love for these characters will be concentrated making you love what you're seeing even more). After your mind remembers how much you love each character and movie , you'll be even happier to see them all together, intensifying the love you have for what you see. THAT'S how you capitalize your characters without compromising their movies and individuality. Does that make sense? If you show all these characters people love from all these movies even more people love, together, then totally change them...you're taking a big chance. The only way the Princess Line actually works is because they target little girls specifically..boiled their facts down to who's their biggest buyer and how they can appeal to them. "Luckily" for Disney there will always be little girls in the world, so not only do they have their biggest buyers but it's an endless flow. It has nothing to do with What the movies or characters stand for. If Disney stayed true to what Disney stands for then they'd find a way to promote their characters because of who they are and what they stand for, that's why people love them and if they love them as adults then they'll buy their products for life. I think it would be great if on the new website you saw them as princesses all together but when you clicked on them and went to their private pages they were in their usual/main outfit...Belle in the blue and white, Ariel either as a mermaid or in her blue dress(please!!), aurora in the forest dress....you get the picture. These toys pretty much show what I'm talking about but not to the fullest extent. While they have the same packaging and idea, the backgrounds keep them in their own worlds...keeping the essence of what we saw when we first fell in love with them.

Disney isn't selling the Aurora or Belle or Ariel or any other princess with this line..they're selling junk to little girls, limiting who buys/is attracted to their product, and honestly..destroying everything the princesses stood for as characters and as Disney classics. We are definitely on the same page here! I'm so disappointed in what Disney has become over the last few years. In the past I always hated it when people made jokes about the Walt Disney Company being a heartless corporation, but now I'm really starting to see truth in that and lose faith in something that I've loved all my life. :( I used to feel like Disney appreciated the positive impact they could have on millions of people's lives and that they cared about creating good quality. Now I swear the people in charge are only interested in getting as much money out of these millions of people as they possibly can. Instead of working to inspire and educate new generations of children in the hope that they might grow up and make the world a better place, all they are doing now is cashing in and taking advantage of the fact that kids can be impressionable and fickle. I like this idea. If I had my way these characters would never have been lumped together in the first place, but what's done is done and I think this kind of approach would help. Another thing I've been thinking about is how each of these characters have special talents and skills, and that surely those are the kind of things they should be focusing on instead of the dresses and pointless stuff like that. If they really feel the need to exploit these characters for money, they could at least use them to teach kids something worthwhile and meaningful. We could learn about singing and music with Ariel, reading and writing with Belle, cooking with Snow White, dancing with Aurora, martial arts with Mulan, craft and sewing with Cinderella, nature with Pocahontas, and travel and culture with Jasmine. I couldn't agree more. I really hope things change soon.
