I have mentioned things like this in teh past AND THERE ARE QUITE a few others hence my term LOVE /HATE RELATIONSHIP DISNEY HAS WITH A VASTLY UNDERATTED FILM Put he word Frozen on something.............................................. Frozen is a new brand, Frozen has yet to mature the success of The Little Mermaid that has lasted for generations for over 30 years. I don't think Disneyy has love/hate relationship with The Little Mermaid and I think this isn't underrated considering that Ariel is the character with the most merchandise ever, much more than Belle, Cinderella or the Frozen' sisters. Do you know more Little Mermaid rip-off or knock-off? Or Ariel lookalike?

Bat Girl Poison Ivy Mera predate Ariel by almost 30 years. Also in the decade known as the ninties Ariel was treated like a third class citizen bby THE VERY company that created her. As shown by the mermaid examples that "look" like Ariel Disney does not seem to care too much My Frozen statement meant exactly that Put the word Frozen on something Disney will be ALL OVER you LIKE FLIES TO HONEY Bad mouth Ariel is OK but other characters
It was NICE see that people seem to "care' (notice quotes there?) about Ariel when a Black Girl was cast as her in a live action film THEN WE get the commentaries (ALMOST AS BAD AS CRITIQUESOF STAR WWRS 7 8 9 _) I have NO problems with this but regardless weather it is posted here or somewhere else on line thee are "people" who CAN NOT ACCEPT it
Question WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF LIVE ACTION BELLE WAS BLACK?
or ANNA and ELSA??? Got a busy week this week so may not respond mmsdiately but the simple FACT remains
The Disney Company has a love /HATE thing with a VASTLY UNDERATED film As to all the merchindising SOMEONE ELSE BEAT DISNEY TO THE PUNCH (COUGH Hot Topic) and suceeded THEY ARE SIMPLY PLAYING CATCH UP
If the film with Poppy Draton made 200.000.000 in les then a month Disney would NOT TAKE THAT UNCHALLENGED

I meant Batgirl, Poison Ivy and Mera from the DC SuperHerogGirls line not the classic ones.
In my opinion sooner or later we will see a black Belle. There have already been a black Cinderella for Disney Channel, a black Rapunzel in OUAT, now there will be black Ariel, likely that the next will be Belle, perhaps for the revival of the musical? Which then in my opinion the actress chosen for Ariel, Halle Bailey, is right: she is very beautiful, she is a good singer, I don't see the problem of having Ariel black, also because from what I know she should have the look of the cartoon: red hairs and green tail.
In my opinion the fact that there are many copies or rip-offs or knock-off of Ariel means that the character is very successful, given the imitations, much more than others of which there are almost no copies/rip-off/knock-off.
Even as a character Ariel is much more iconic than the other Princesses, only Cinderella and Snow White are as iconic as Ariel, perhaps even more recently Elsa, but Ariel's iconicity is unique: for example Ariel is more iconic than Belle, despite being the two most popular princesses ever (more popular than the others), Ariel still surpasses Belle in inconicity.

* "Off Balance" is the forty-fourth episode of Batman: The Animated Series. It originally aired on November 23, 1992. Gordon's line, "One of these days I'm going to nail his feet to the ground.", is a reference to Disney's The Little Mermaid, where Sebastian says the same about Ariel.
* In Batman: The Animated Series episode The Laughing Fish (1993), The Joker tells Harley Quinn that she can be his very own Little Mermaid, he then puts a fish head costume over her head.
* "Kabooms" is the third and fourth episodes of the fifth season of Teen Titans Go! and the two-hundred-twelfth and two-hundred-thirteenth overall episodes of the series. Starfire wishes she could be a "Little Mermaid princess". This could be a reference to Princess Ariel from Disney's The Little Mermaid.
* "Jinxed" is the twenty-third episode of the fourth season of Teen Titans Go!, and the one-hundred-eightieth overall episode of the series. Robin losing his voice and regaining it is similar to how Princess Ariel lost hers in Disney's, The Little Mermaid. Also, the way he was vocalizing sounds somewhat similar to how Ariel was vocalizing when her voice got taken away. The animals on the rock for this episode are a seagull, a hermit crab, and a blue and yellow tropical fish which is another reference to The Little Mermaid, symbolizing Scuttle, Sebastian and Flounder, which are Ariel's animal friends. Also to mention in this episode, while Robin played a somewhat similar role to Ariel, Jinx played a very similar role to Ursula the Sea Witch and Birdarang played a similar role to Prince Eric.

From CBR: Harley Quinn Takes a Dump on Disney's The Little Mermaid, Literally Season 2 of Harley Quinn took a dump on Disney and The Little Mermaid with a poop session that pokes funs at musicals.
BY RENALDO MATADEEN JUN 02, 2020
When it comes to taking shots at pop culture, Harley Quinn has shown no chill at all in its two seasons. The series has thrown jabs at #SnyderCut and The Last Jedi fans, and even Game of Thrones' Mad Queen arc. Now, the offensive cartoon takes aim at Warner Bros.' biggest rival, Disney, in one of the show's cheekiest side stories yet.
It all comes courtesy of "Bachelorette," where an arc involving King Shark returning to the ocean for an arranged marriage actually takes a musical dump on The Little Mermaid.
King Shark's hanging our with Kite Man, Clayface and Frank the Plant out in the ocean, getting in some boys' time while Harley throws Poison Ivy a bachelorette party. The guys, though, prefer something more relaxed like knocking back beers and playing cards, only for Samson the Crab to board without permission. It's animation veteran Phil LaMarr doing a Jamaican accent, poking fun at Sebastian, the Jamaican crab that serves as Princess Ariel's advisor.
He instructs King Shark (aka Nanaue) to return to the depths of the ocean as per Shark King's orders, as he wants his son in an arranged marriage with a hammerhead, Tabitha. But Nanaue won't have it, making it clear he hates life under the sea and prefers the freedom on the surface. So much so, he's willing to break a treaty and risk war between kingdoms. Eventually, he heads down to stand up to his dad and offer a diplomatic solution, but Samson sees an opening where he breaks out into a sales pitch. It's a rendition that copies Disney's love for musicals, but instead of the iconic "Under the Sea," Samson and the rest of the aquatic crew chime in with "Beneath the Sea."
But it's not cute in any way. In fact, it's downright gross as they sing about the ocean's best trait: being able to poop underwater without having to wipe or wash. All sorts of animals from fishes to an octopus to squids to crustaceans are seen all pooping and expounding on how liberating it is to pee and take a dump without any worry at all. Basically, the sea is nature's toilet and they think it's a luxury Nanaue just can't enjoy on dry land. Hearing LaMarr's accent and the Caribbean-appropriated sound bed is pretty hilarious but again, there's so much marine life using the bathroom, it kinda feels like overkill.
Nonetheless, King Shark takes it in stride because he has enjoyed this benefit in the past. It doesn't convince him to stay, however, and when he does inform his dad at the ceremony he hates ocean life, he shocks everyone by saying he loves using toilets and flushing. To them, it's blasphemy but to Nanaue it's all part of his evolution and being civil.
Nanaue doesn't want to naturally pollute the waters anymore and ignores the melodic, catchy jingle that reminds everyone that all despite the novelty and fun stuff The Little Mermaid offered, a lot more goes down under the sea. King Shark returns topside, confessing he did get married to keep the peace, but they're in an arranged marriage, so it looks like Samson did his job after all.
This whole scenario is a slight nod to Batman: The Animated Series' "The Laughing Fish" in 1993 where Joker comically asked Harley to be his "Little Mermaid," and while both characters aren't involved in this musical number, viewers can all admit it really does get a little cute at the end of the day.
