Wow, that guy was so energetic, I got a sugar high from just watching the video!
It was interesting to see him doing the math on the subject, as I'd never seen those figures before.
I think he should have checked his facts more, Ariel is never shown in her mermaid form when in this franchise, but always as human.
But I think he was doing that more for comedy then anything else.
Nala, well, that part put me off, mostly because Lion King is the only Disney animated movie I can say I truly hate.
Not because I believe it's bad, but because the company never stops referencing it.
If they weren't mentioning it so often, I might not find it so infuriating.
Also, I have a suspicion it was made specifically for kids, that it has no appeal to adults or possibly even teenagers.
And the final straw was they kept playing that theme song on the radio so much when it was released, I can't stand to hear it ever again!
I haven't seen the movie and I do not wish to.
I will agree about Kida, I adore her and wish they'd done more with her.
She wasn't like anyone else at that point, probably the first of the more independent style "Princesses".
I also liked the movie, it's got a permanent place on my list of Disney favorites/timeless classics.
I know they were working on an Atlantis tv series and a few episodes were made, but for some reason the series was dropped and they retooled the existing episodes into a
direct2video movie.
I did enjoy these episodes and it's a shame this series never took off properly, I'd have loved to have more of them to watch.
Also wondering if it's the fact she wasn't into pretty dresses and gowns much that got her excluded.
When she goes to the "world above", this is
how she dresses.
Practical, not feminine.
I think he may be right though, that no matter how strong the character is or how appealing they may be, Disney isn't looking at any criteria besides $$$ when it comes to making their selection.
Possibly another reason Kida was excluded, Atlantis didn't perform well in that aspect.
Anastasia is also one I have wondered about.
But according to the comments in the video, it was never a Disney film.
Oddly, I thought it was!
