Heh. As far as Daemon's concerned "Eric" was a weakling who let everything important be taken from him and King Triton is, if anything, even worse for not even trying to help the situation. Neither opinion is entirely fair but Daemon's got a couple volumes worth full of guilt and anger issues that have yet to be worked through.
I'm hoping to have at least the start of eleven out by Sunday, but we'll see. Feel free to prod me after a couple weeks if nothing new's been put up.

Once again, sorry for the wait. Writer's block is a an evil evil thing. But as a reward for your patience I have the entire rest of Chapter 10 for your reading pleasure. Hopefully you'll like it.
The Siren shrieked as she thrust the trident at the invisible barrier of the circle. “You will pay for this indignity.”
Daemon didn’t answer. He was bending over what looked like a silver bowl filled with herbs. In the center there was a growing stain of red. He flicked a hand and the strange mix burst into flame. Once the smoke began wafting he stood up and started to chant.
“Apollo, Amun-Ra, Amaterasu. Guardians of light, I beseech you. Disperse the shadows of heart and mind. Pierce the darkness that has taken root in her soul. Accept my offering. Grant me your aid!”
There was a sudden shudder in the air and Daemon was engulfed in electric blue light. He extended his palm towards the Siren. The energy passed through his arm and into the circle, hitting her square in the chest, and knocking her against the opposite side of the barrier.
The Siren lifted her head up and began to laugh. “I guess you just weren‘t strong enough, lover. I’m still here.” She lifted the trident and storm clouds rolled in. The wind picked up and rain began to fall. The chalk lines of the circle were smudged and the stones that lay on its perimeter blew away.
Daemon’s eyes widened in fear and he braced his arms in front of his face. It was too late. There was an explosion of power that blew him back several feet before he finally crashed to a stop in the dirt. It took him a minute to get back to his feet.
In that instant he felt the points of the trident pressing under his chin. He raised his head to stare his enemy in the eye. Her face was close enough to kiss. She cupped his cheek in her hand almost gently and whispered, “Poor, poor boy. You tried so very hard, didn’t you? All that pain and toil, and all for nothing.”
The Siren pulled her hand away and pressed the three longest points of the trident above his heart. She applied pressure enough to break the skin and dragged the trident diagonally, making a wave of shallow cuts. She smiled at Daemon’s now-complete expression of despair and stepped back. “But now it’s time for your pain to end. Forever.” The trident began to glow with her power as she spoke. “Goodbye Eric.”
There was a golden light that slowly engulfed everything. And then there was nothing at all.
The Siren glared at Daemon from where she stood. “If you remember, I was about to end your miserable existence when there was an interruption. After everything was over, you and the trident were gone.”
“I remember. I woke up on the beach with a headache and chest wound, but no trident. Whatever happened, it wasn’t me.”
Daemon came to on unfamiliar shore and immediately began coughing, trying to clear out the seawater from his lungs. What had happened? He had managed to track down the Siren and had attempted the de-possession spell that it had taken him five years to find and master…She had come after him with the trident and there had been a bright light. Then…nothing. He sat up.
“Feeling all right?” King Triton was looking at his son-in-law with a strange mix of pity, anger, and regret.
Daemon defiantly got to his feet even as his head swam. “Never better. What are you doing here?”
“Eric-”
“Don‘t call me that!” Daemon hissed, as if hearing his old name caused him physical pain.
King Triton raised an eyebrow, “Very well, *Daemon*, then. I didn‘t come to you. There was a light and you appeared in front of me. Since we were underwater and you didn’t seem to be breathing I brought you to the surface. Don‘t worry, this isn‘t your kingdom. Just an island close by.”
“I‘m touched. Whatever happened to ‘One less human to worry about’?”
The king pursed his lips, but didn‘t respond to the taunt. He simply tossed something to the younger man. “Here.”
Daemon caught the object and looked at it. He gasped in surprise. “She told me about this, and her other treasures.” He moved his fingers over the lines of the music box almost reverently as he asked. “Wasn’t it destroyed?”
“Some things that are broken can be fixed.”
The ghost of a smile passed over the prince‘s lips. “I’ve been trying to tell you that for the last five years.”
“Ariel is gone. No one under the sea has ever come back from being possessed. No one!” Triton was visibly trying not to lose his temper, but Daemon was not exactly making it easy for him.
“Not yet.”
The Sea King sighed, defeated. “You’re going to kill yourself if you keep going this way. You know that.”
“I promised myself that I would save her or die trying. I came to terms with the fact that it would probably be the second a long time ago.”
Daemon‘s tired smile faded as he clutched the music box tightly. “Thank you, for this. And for saving me, I guess…But as far as I‘m concerned, you abandoned us, abandoned her when she needed you the most. Nothing you say or do can ever make up for that. The truth is-I don’t ever want to see you again.”
With that he turned his back to King Triton and, sopping wet and shuddering with cold, walked inland, heedless of the three streaks of blood running down the left side of his chest.
Daemon grinned sarcastically. “You’re bluffing, *Siren*. The only reason you were able to take her is because you snuck in. Made her think she was the problem. You can’t do that this time. She’s already seen you. She knows what you are. You’ve lost.” He started laughing. It started out triumphantly but quickly took on a hysterical edge. “We‘re in the same boat, you and I. And it’s sinking fast.”
“Perhaps so. In that case maybe we don‘t have to be enemies. I have a proposition; one I promise will be worth your while to consier.” Her eyes gave nothing away. She could have been lying through her teeth. Or she just might have been telling the truth.
Daemon’s eyes darted to Ariel and Eric, who were lost in each other’s embrace, with their friends behind them and Selene looking on from the side.
“I‘m listening.”

That's a quote from Firefly, Simon re Jayne. The episode is "Jaynestown".
BTW is anybody else watching Joss's new show Dollhouse?
On Topic: I think there's sooo much crossover potential for Eric, familywise. I've actually had a lot of plotbunnies lately. I think I may do a series of short fics about it ,and depending on the responses, maybe I'll turn one or two into full-length stories. If anybody else feels like adding to the chaos it could just be an open thread for anyone to test out those kinds of ideas to see what sticks. What do you guys think?

OMG! Eric and Gaston would SO be like Simon and Jayne!
"You're like a trained ape. Without the training!"

I'm not saying Eric couldn't take teasing or roughousing and stuff. Or even extreme "macho" behavior. It'd be more Gaston's moments of complete and utter arrogance and jerkitude that would bug him, if that makes any sense.

*Nods* I think if Eric is doubting himself for whatever reason it could put him on edge. He might be a bit jumpy or less inclined to voice his opinions. At the same time it would push him out of his fairly zen personality into being a little less patient with bickering or delays. It might not be immediately noticable, but it would affect him a lot.
Also IMO Eric's one of those people who'll take abuse, and take abuse, but eventually he will snap, and heaven help you if you're in his line of fire.

First I have to say that I really can't buy Gaston as Eric and Al's half-brother. His build and facial features are so different. Eric and Al-yes, I could see that. Gaston-not so much.
Also I think Eric would have very little patience for Gaston's particular brand of self-involved narcissitic BS. There's a difference between being gruff and manly and being a jerk. Not to mention that post-movie Eric would likely be somewhat of a vegetarian and Gaston...yeah.
Frankly I'd really prefer it of Gaston were replaced with somebody else. Mozenwrath or John Smith maybe? But if you're cowriting you may not have a choice.
But to answer your second question I feel like Eric would be the level head guy most of the time. If however there was an intense situatiuon he could go into berserker kick-butt and take names mode (like in the storm and going after Ursula).

Heh. My fanwank is that Jim is Ariel/Eric's very very distant decendent (on his mom's side of course).

Heh. I think Eric would be painfully obvious
Sebastian *pontiedly trying to get Eriel not to blow his cover*: Ariel! Eriel: Oh. You mean me. Because I'm Ariel. Yes. That's me. Ariel. Who I am. Not anybody else. Just me. Ariel. Sebastian: Jeeze mon.
While Ariel would be better at pretending to be Eric, but her immediate reactions and physical gestures would give her away.
Aric *putting fingers to his/her lips and practically squealing*: Oh my god! Thats' *so* cute!
And trust me Aquisha-when you get a chance watch Firefly. You'll find out so much more about all the characters.
And now onto the big news!
Last night I got to see Mermaid on Broadway for the second time!
I had to go to the city for other reasons so me and my brother did student rush. Got there like twenty minutes before the box office opened and there were like 10 or 11 people in front of us. We got our tickets, took care of buisness, wondered around Times Square for a bit, ate dinner, and waited for the show to start.
Sierra was out that night. Chelsea Stock Morgan was our Ariel and she was phenominal! She didn't copy Sierra's performance at all, and she clearly had a firm grasp on the role. She was very good at portraying Ariel's vulnerability in Act 2. I really hope she takes over when Sierra eventually leaves.
Hiedi was great as Ursula. Very different from Sherie, but still amazing. Flotsam and Jetsam were very on tonight as well. The three of them were a lot of fun together.
I really liked the new Sebastian too. He was very funny and had a lot of energy.
And last but certainly not least-Sean. *Swoon*. He was amazing! He made some really nice acting choices, especially during Act 2. He and Chelsea had great chemistry together as well.
Did I mention that the Student Rush tickets were front row? All the way to the right, but still. And that there was a part during "Her Voice" where Sean was kneeling on the stage, five feet in front of me? Yeah. Best. Seats. Ever.
A couple things I noticed. The 'chase' after Les Poissons reprise has been changed a little. Also during "One Step Closer" Ariel was noticably more hesitant to try dancing at first. I'm not sure if this is new choreography or just an acting choice. The ending has been slightly tweaked too. The dialog betwen Ariel and Ursula when she takes the shell is a little different and when Ursula is 'dying' Ariel takes the trident from her and to me it seemed like she used it to restore Triton to himself.
I had SUCH a good time!

Hah! Cool. How many episodes have you seen?
You know, I could see Jennifer Connelly as Girl!Eric too. Plus crossover potential.
Jareth *singing*: Everything I do, I do for you,,,
Eric: Listen. My name's NOT Sarah. I don't want to touch your crystal balls, and I'm not even really a girl. There was this wanna-be seawitch and potions were thrown...
Jareth: Oh. Sorry about the mix-up. I might be able to help you...do you have children?

Also I imagine Eric getting annoyed with Ariel's hair getting in his eyes. Also if there was going to Atlantica involved I think the seashells would make him uncomfortable.
Mer-Eriel: I just feel so *exposed*.
You know I think if it was just a gender switch and not a true body-swap Eric would make a very pretty girl. Think Summer Glau, River from Firefly.

Avoiding plot complications you don't want is completely within your rights as author. To be honest I could see it both ways. You specifically addressed that the other patrons' attention was elsewhere, but there could have been some enterprising mer-paparazzi who might have caught sight of stuff. Or not, which is what happened. As for Big B, that's what I figured. Heard some rumors but has no idea that he's playing with fire when he attacks Eric. And *Squee!* re my request. Waiting's no problem. Especially since I want to see the rest of what happens in Atlantica first.

Eric-in-Ariel (Eriel): *faints.*
Ariel-in-Eric (Aric): *pokes him/her* Eric? Eric? Don't worry we'll get this fixed soon. I promise. Oh jeeze...

This section was amazing. I loved Ariel delaing with Pearl and the Orange Roughies. And, of course Eric's entrance. A much more satisfactory "The Cavalry's Here" moment than in the second movie. And the getaway. I laughed *so* hard at Rip's discomfort. I do have to wonder just how much the undersea world knows about how things went down with Ursula. I mean 'cause "Hey, lets try and bully the guy who took down an eighty-foot trident wielding Ursula!" ain't exactly the plan of the century. I can buy Big B and his minions being that stupid, but I am curious as to if they had fair warning or not. And finally, I have a feeling that the fight's going to come out as common knowledge sooner or later. Poor Eric. 'Cause we know how much he looves being the center of controversy. Of course even without that, he's likely to be in the middle of an intense situation. I'm not sure if you recall, but awhile ago I made a request that before Ariel and Eric head home they take a detour to Greysmith so Ethan and the gang can see Eric with a tail. Of course you are under no obligation to fulfill it, but I though I'd remind you, just in case.

Loved the song. Wasn't crazy about the video. Too strictly in chronological order, and it stayed on the same scenes too long. Yes, I'm horribly picky. I want the song though.

Kingdom Hearts tends to omit characters and settings in all the worlds. Belle's Dad and Gaston aren't in the BaTB world, for example and the only location was the castle.
In the first KH Atlantica was ONLY underwater so Scuttle wouldn't fit, and in 2, he wasn't really necessary.

Random thing i just realized: You know how Triton calls humans "spinbeless savage harpooning fish-eaters"?
Well what weapon does Eric graze Ursula with, distracting her from zapping Ariel: A harpoon!
I mean, I noticed both, but I never put it together before. It's a nice subtle touch by the writers, don't you think?

I think post-movie Triton'd probably just refer to Eric by his first name. Although I can't see Eric refering to him as just Triton. That would seem odd to me.
I feel like the King and Queen are generally reffered to by title in mer-culture but that any children or "lesser" nobility aren't, except in formal circumstances.
I like that idea! I think we do see the inside of Pearl's parents' house at least in the series, but I can't remember what it looked like.

Yeah, IMO it's little bit funny. In the movie Grimsby, Ursula, Flounder, and Sebastian all refer to him by title at certain points, but I don't think Eric, Ariel, or Triton ever do. Eric 'cause he's a sweetie, and Ariel and Triton don't really care (for very different reasons).
