Broadway.
Mostly because the love story is my favorite part of TLM, and it looks like that won't be featured much, if at all in the sequel. Plus Rob Paulson's Eric...

All a matter of taste. You're right, TLM3 doesn't sound very romantic. I'm more into the fun adventures with Ariel and Flounder myself. It's gonna be good!

I say TLM3 just because I have a better chance (and the money) to see it sooner.

Broadway, b/c it is a once in a life kind of thing, you can see a movie any time - and they dont make every disney movie into a Broadway show - and i would have to say that i just love the love story between Eric & Ariel very much too - and after seeing the BatB on Broadway, i just cant wait!!!!!!

The Little Mermaid on Broadway. How can you compare something beautiful and wonderful, to a crappy straight to video movie?

The Little Mermaid on Broadway. How can you compare something beautiful and wonderful, to a crappy straight to video movie? Have you seen TLM 3 yet? Otherwise I'm not sure how you'd know if it was crappy or not? Anyways I'm looking forward to the movie more. We get to hear more Jodi thats The Best!

I think the movie. Hearing Jodi bring life to Ariel will be much better than what the people of the broadway show are doing. I love broadway shows, but some of their choices just plain suck. Did you see the girl that got turned down to play Ariel? She's so much cuter, prettier and I think she has a better voice. Also the roller skates? Wow.
Anyway, movie hands down.

Otherwise I'm not sure how you'd know if it was crappy or not? Every straight to video that Disney has released, has straight up sucked. The Little Mermaid 2 was sooo rank, that I didn't even buy it. Horrible art, horrible story, it was horrible period. And I'm pretty sure part 3 will be just as bad. The musical sneak peek was bogus, and Ariel didn't even look like Ariel.

You realise you could say exactly the same about Broadway. TLM2 was pretty bad, but I think 3 is looking good so far.

Broadway all the way! If it's as good at BATB it'll be awesome!
The whole thought of TLM 3 irks me alot! I'm glad it's Disney's last sequal!

The Little Mermaid on Broadway will be the same story, live. The only art is in the sets and costumes. Is that what you mean? There's a difference between a whole new story with the same characters you love, or a different interpretation of the same story and characters you love.

I was just saying it's all a matter of opinion. I don't like the Broadway artwork, the music clip or the new Ariel very much. There's no right or wrong here. Different people will enjoy different things. I was just wondering what people were looking forward to more.

For me, TLM on Broadway!
In the case of this question, I asked myself "What will have more Eric, TLM 3 or TLM on Broadway?". I think it would be safe to say that Broadway wins, plus, he gets a song.

Maybe Broadway is better for fans of Ariel and Eric, but TLM3 is better for fans of Ariel and Flounder (or another underwater friend). Let's make a graph!

Hhaw. I was actually sitting here waiting for you to make a graph. I can see how the romance can be appealing about Broadway though, but I prefer adventures and fun.

Rethinking my lack of excitement for TLM 3 compared to the musical, I think I hit on another reason for my preference:
Maybe it's 'cause I'm an English major, but I'm a sucker for classic epic themes: Good VS Evil on a grand scale, star-crossed lovers, friendship and loyalty vs betrayal, the nature of vengeance and forgiveness, etc.
I enjoy the lighter stuff too, but what's best is a balance with elements of both.
The first movie (which the musical is based on, obviously) delivered that in spades, so did many episodes of the TV series. TLM 2...not so much but that's a whole topic unto itself.
I think I could live with little to no Eric if I knew that there was a rock solid plot with a competent, charismatic, sinister villain. I want serious obstacles for our girl. I want her almost at rock bottom, only to triumph at the last second, and through her own power, not her father's magic fork.
The Evil Manta/In Harmony is one of my favorite episodes, partially because with practically the whole kingdom against her, Ariel is able to use her gift, her voice as a weapon, and beat Manta at his own game. If TLM 3 can move me half as much, I'll be satisfied.

If TLM 3 can move me half as much, I'll be satisfied. I'm totally with you there. In Harmony is like a compromise between our tastes. I prefer the lighter stuff to the epic stuff, but that episode is definitely the best of both. It has a great story, without being overly glorified. It's just a simple TV episode with basic animation and Ariel really shines. I'm really hoping with the theme of music, TLM3 will recapture that.
