Or here's a thought; I personally think Eric would have had a mom when he was younger, but she wasn't around for much of his life, like maybe until he was four. It could be that she died giving birth to his sibling (Yes, I love angst. Can you tell? LOL) His father would of course been heartbroken losing her and the baby, and even though he's a ruler, he doesn't really have any idea how to raise him alone. Then he of course isn't around for much of Eric's life leaving Car and Grim to be 'the step in mom and dad' Ethier way I LOVE to hear everyone's thoughts on this subject. One of my favorite fanfics is where Giselle is his mother (although it's kind of sad too) XD I know! I agree. I was talking to a friend the other day, about how Eric and Aladdin are my favorite Disney guys, but Eric wins out partly becasue Disney deprived me of him! XD Aladdin got a show and two other movies. I was left with so many questions about Eric, and was left with wanting more! LOL Dude, how awesome would it be if they did another se dvd for the Little Mermaid that included new scenes with 'Her Voice' and 'She's in love' like they did with BatB and 'Human Again' It would make my year Naw thanks! It would also be interesting to see Eric interact with Gaston. XD

You could really toss things up a bit if you screw around with Eric's family--though I'm really opposed to the idea of a living sibling (or one that died past childbirth), a lot of other stuff is valid. How his parents died or how they acted in their life makes a huge difference between interpretations, even though it's subtle. Am I making sense? I love all these theories, and it's interesting to think of the ways each situation could affect Eric differently. But I have to shut up and be vague, lest I spoil my fanfic.
I feel a rant coming on!
Sometimes, I wonder if I'm the only one in the world who likes Ariel better as a human than as a mermaid. I obviously love both of her incarnations, but she wanted to be human with Eric. She's said that's where she belongs. Eric always gets left in the dust with mermaid!Ariel...
The Broadway songs in the movie would make my life. I hate the addition of "If I Never Knew You" in Pocahontas and don't really like "The Morning Report" in the new TLK, though I like both songs. "Human Again" was done well, I think--it works for the film. Both of those TLM songs would fall well into place, and I'd love to see a number from animated!Daughters of Triton and, of course, Eric.

Zavi, no, you are not alone on the "prefering Ariel as a human" thing. I don't understand why people seem to block out the last five minutes of the movie where Ariel is turned into a HUMAN by her FATHER and marries ERIC. I don't know, but to me that seems to be the major crux of the story and how or why people pass over this is beyond me. I don't know, I just don't get it.
Like I said, it's interesting to see how these subtle changes in Eric's relationship with his parents change how he develops as a character. And, to add to my scenario, I think that if Eric's mother died having him, the issues that he'd have from that would really manifest themselves when he and Ariel have children. I think he'd end up being really worried about Ariel and whether or not the same thing would happen with her. Now that's something that I plan to explore at some point, goodness knows when though...

Me three! LOL! Part of what the movie is about is going where your *heart* belongs. And they obviously loved one another for reasons the people around them had a hard time understanding (which is VERY ironic since some people choose to block that part out and don't really understand or choose to see it through their OWN opinions rather than that of the characters. It's weird to me tbh) Like in BatB; I prefer him as the prince even as lovable as the beast is; I'm gonna put myself in his shoes for a sec. I really wouldn't care how much more people liked me in that form, I would just never be happy like that. That beast body, it was a prison. I would be frightened that I'd accidentally hurt someone or feel like you could never be close to them. Worries that you wouldn't have day to day, would be eminent. And, I wouldn't expect for someone to live such a way that would make them so miserable. AAANNNNDDD I'm getting off topic XD But the point is weather people think it's right or not or your more popular in another way, it matters what's really in your heart, like becoming human WAS in Ariel's heart. People seemed to forget that even though Ariel made mistakes; one thing she knew well was her heart and what was inside of her. Ooh, Aquisha, I'd love if you did explore that further BTW, are you going to update 'Human in King Triton's court'? Which brings me to ask Elphie if she's going to update 'Bittersweet Symphony' soon? ::Deamon fangirl!:: LOL

Oh, good, I thought I was the minority. I agree with the Adam vs. Beast thing, too, but I digress.
Aquisha's plot point is a great idea (I've read your stuff and I'm impressed), and it made me remember the question I've been forgetting to ask for a while...
What do you think Eric fears the most, or fears in general?
In the spirit of Eric over-thinking things, he'd probably mull over all the sacrifices Ariel made for him. She gave up her family, much contact with her best friend, and her life as a mermaid for him. I think he'd put a lot of pressure on his shoulders--Eric might worry if he can "live up" to her expectations and make himself worth all of those sacrifices. He's found someone who loves him for exactly who he is, and that brings me to a lovely Eric quote:
"Grim, I lost her once; I'm not going to lose her again."
Eric doesn't seem very overprotective, but having a wife as adventurous as Ariel would probably make him nervous sometimes. XP

I totally agree that Eric would fear losing Ariel. I still think he'd give her space, but I do think he'd be a bit worried, and would do anything to protect her.
If Disney were to make a live-action TLM, who would you cast as Eric?
Oh, and as a side note, I like Beast's human form, and it's definitely better than his beast-form, because it was meant to be a prison. I think that as a human, he still has the spirit of beast( the eyes ), but he's still Adam the man.

I agree about Eric feeling so much pressure, and nervous about Ariel's natural impulsivness. XD Yay, I'm usually alone on my liking of Adam! Oh, and about a live action TLM. I LOVE Sean, but if I was going to go by a 'carbon copy' of our boy looks wise it would be Brandon Routh. Plus it kind of works since he was so good at being Superman and Clark Kent. We all know Eric has moments where he can be one or the other XD

He'd be a great Eric. He did do a good job as the man of steel. ^^ I was thinking maybe a younger Jimmy Stewart Before he died, lol. Yeah, I'm old fashioned Anyway, he had blue eyes, and I just thought he looked a bit like Eric.

XD Brandon WOULD be good. If not, then maybe Sierra can replace Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. I might then have to like that character xp lol He's cute, Elphie! I haven't really seen firefly sadly. But there would be no harm in having the boys wrestle for the part LOL!

Gaah, I have no answer for that question! I agree with everyone else, though. It's just occurred to me that most of the actors I've seen in movies lately have had brown hair and dark eyes. There's no Eric in them. XD

After I returned from my trip down memory lane lol, I thought of Tom Welling from Smallville. He was a great Clark, so I think he'd make a good Eric.

Someone I know used to talk nonstop about Smallville all the time; now I'm going to think of Eric whenever she speaks. I don't mind! XD
Edit: Oops, pressed the wrong button too soon. Another question: Ever hear songs on the radio/your iPod that seem very Eric-esque? Or songs that make you think of Ariel and Eric?

I love how we all think of Superman actors to play Eric XD
'Welcome to the Black Parade' by MCR makes me think of Eric. So does "Into the Ocean"by Blue October. And just about everything by All American Rejects XD
What song I really like for Ariel and Eric is 'My Best Friend' by Queen. 'No one' by Alicia Keys is good for them too. ^^

Well, that was quite a response. I see I have some new titles to add to my iPod... Don't mind me and my weird taste in music: "Sirens" - Jane Eyre (the musical is so underrated, and this song makes me think of the lovely couple! Never seen the song on YouTube, though.) "She Comes in Waves" - Dean Geyer"Ariel" - October Project (This song had to be made with TLM in mind; there are so many coincidences...) "Want To" - Sugarland (It's my favorite song, so it reminds me of everything. XD) "Lips of an Angel" - Hinder (I like this song more when I attach it to TLM, because it loses the "cheating husband" message entirely XP)

Okay, that made me laugh. Good picks everyone! Okay, I was talking to some friends a while back and we all thought it was kind of weird that Ariel and Eric only had one child. (For the stupid movie sake I can understand that they wouldn't want to put more children in danger) But they strike me as wanting more. Ariel loved her sisters, and Eric doesn't seem like he was a 'happy' only child. He hung out with the sailors quite a bit. In an rpg, my friend and I made up three other kids. tehe. Any thoughts?

A little boy definetly. With dark hair like Eric but Ariel's eyes, skin, and facial structure. His hair should by wavy, almost curly.
And maybe another little girl with lighter red hair and green eyes like Athena. With freckles. Her hair should be cut short like in those preliminary sketches of Melody, kind of a bob. Think Jane from Return to Neverland only with less poof.
