buckmana aw I really appreciate you sharing that with me! thank you! I hope so too, I really do feel like I'm making some great strides towards achieving my dream!
The full story about this callback experience was kinda crazy so I might as well share it. Long story short, I wasn't notified whether or not I received a callback. Callbacks were the day after the audition and I felt as if I gave a good audition worthy of being called back, so I was on pins and needles all day the next day waiting for an email, a call, anything. I receive no contact all day from the production. Since the callback location/time information was online and it was an hour before and I still hadn't heard back either way, I decided to just go there anyway. My thought process was that the worst that could happen was that they shoo me away because I wasn't on the callback list. I get there and through a weird series of me getting my foot in the door, they never sent me away. There was a point where they asked all the girls who were called back for Ariel to sit at one table, and I just went and sat there with them. And nobody objected to it, in fact the staff gave me the necessary Ariel materials (audition sides, the lines of a few selected scenes from the show to showcase my acting as Ariel) and I started to work on them and meet the other Ariels. By the end of the night, it was down to just five Ariels singing "The World Above" for the directors, and I was one of them. None of which would've happened if I assumed I didn't get a callback and never went. I still don't know for sure if I actually was on their list for callbacks or not or maybe the email got lost in cyberspace, but I made it clear that I knew in my heart I needed to be considered for the role, and they kept me and had me read for several scenes acting as Ariel and singing as Ariel. I'm glad I at the very least got to show what I could do with the role, even if they went a different direction. You truly do miss 100% of the shots you don't take, I really agree with that sentiment.
