When do you think TLM characters are at their best - in the movie, the series, books or something else?I like Ariel in the TV series and the Ariel's Adventures stories best. She's great in the movie, but the storyline calls for her to be moody and quite ungrateful... and she is a human with no voice for half of it. In the series, we see more attractive and interesting sides to her, like her compassion, her love of the sea and her relationships with her family and friends. In the Ariel's Adventures stories, she is still fascinated in the human world, but not so fixated that she doesn't care about anything else. Basically, I think Ariel is at her best when she's swimming around with her friends, having fun adventures. I think Triton is at his best by a long way in the TV series. Again, he's great in the movie, but in the series we get to see more sides of his personality. He still has his temper and kind heart, but he's also one of the funniest characters in the series, especially with Sebastian and Dudley! Sebastian is a difficult one, because although he's always an amazing character, he's totally different in the movie, TV series and other stories. In the movie, he's intelligent and mature, but with a soft shell. In the series, he's silly, clumsy and crazy. His character is more layered in the movie, but I like him in the series best. I'll do more characters another time. I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys think.

I love Ariel in the movie, but as you pointed out, she has no voice in half of the film, so I like her in tv-series better Wish Disney would release the show on DVD. She's so much fun and cerious in the tv-show. But if I have to pick a favorite scene with her from the movie, it has to be when we see her the very first time! I remember I was totally in love with her design. The red hair, the green tail, just everything! Ursula is best in the movie I just love the talk when we first sees her. The way she hides in the shadows and then comes out, revealing she's an Octopus. I think the animator did a really great job on her! But also when she grows huge! Just a shame it didn't last longer that it did. Vanessa is at her best, during the Wedding. She fought off some of the animals and spoke some, not much but still a little. Dress-wise, I, personly thinks she looks great in the blue dress! The white/yellow dress she wears when she sing her song on the Wedding boat is kinda blah. Not so much color. I wish Disney would have showed her some more, 'cos I really like her design. Flounder has his peak when he defends Ariel in front of Triton and Sebastian. I really like it, when he keeps on talking and reveals they've been at the surface. You don't really see Flounder so much in the film. I'd like to see what he did durring the battle with Ursula. Sebastian is at his peak, durring alot of scenes, I think. The 'Under the Sea' sequence, along with 'Kiss the Girl' are the best. When I was younger, I always thought he was a really borring character, but he really isen't I love Scuttle, during the Crash the Wedding with Vanessa. He did a really great job there. But after that he just dissapears and only shows up again, durring the wedding with Ariel and Eric. I always wonder where he is, when Ursula grows huge. I think Eric is at his best, when Vanessa has him under her spell. Nah, just kidding xD After he realizes Ariel is the one, until he defeated Ursula is when I he think he's at his best.

I agree with you about Flounder, although he does have some great moments in the TV series too. I think Eric is at his best in the scenes with Grimsby. And you're right, Ursula is definitely best in the movie, especially that first scene and Poor Unfortunate Souls!

Yeah, it's so funny she can sound so sweet-like as Ariel and really angry/evil as Vanessa She did a really great job there My fave part of Crash the Wedding has alwaya been when the pelicans dumps water on Vanessa and the lobster and seastars attack her xD

Lol, I loved the wedding part too. I felt sorry for Vanessa/Ursula then, even though she's evil.

I don't know why but I really love Eric and Ariel in TLM2 when Ariel is helping Melody get ready for the party and Eric comes up to see if they're ready.
For some reason their little conversation there makes me smile each time. It's truly one of my favorite moment.
(Right after Ariel and Eric dancing, of course...)

I think all of the characters are at their best in the original Little Mermaid movie. I don't know, I'm like a grumpy old person stuck in the past or something. I'm just really stubborn when it comes to sequels. To me, it just seems like in TLM2, the characters are different. And I know they're meant to be, since Ariel's older as well as Flounder etc... but I guess II prefer to just keep the characters in their original form, because it's, to me, when they're the most vibrant and alive! *shrugs* I have yet to see TLM3, so I can't really say anything about that, but I still feel like I'll much prefer the original to anything. Even the series is different. I just like the characters exactly how I was introduced to them. Hm, I sound like such a stubborn, close minded person. I'm really not! That's just my opinion is all.
