I know I'm not the only one who's resigned themself to the likelihood that TLM I know and love is now a thing of the past, but if good quality was guaranteed, what would you like to see in the future? Another movie, a new DVD, more stories...? More TV episodes, books and a new DVD would all be good, but most of all I'd love an album with loads of new songs, while Jodi is still available to provide Ariel's voice. Ideally I would like the songs to be written by Michael Silversher who worked on the TV series and TLM2. I think he did an amazing job taking over from Howard Ashman and keeping Ariel's true character alive. Another movie explaining Ursula's past and how Ariel became fascinated with the human world would have been great, but unfortunately I think it's too late for that now, even if it was done really well. TLM3 was a wasted opportunity and 4 movies would definitely be overkill.

What a good question, I think if I could have any more TLM in the future it would be through a spin-off franchise titled "Disney Mermaids" which consisted of a book series among other merchandise and involved Ariel's adventures with her six mermaid sisters. I would love to know more about Tritons other daughters, like what happened with their happily ever afters!

Wow, I never even thought about what happened to Ariel's sisters after she became human! That would be very interesting, but only if they stuck with the original characters and not the messed up versions in TLM3.

I mean I like the story line and the beautiful animation, but the continuity is so staggering!!! I mean to a die-hard Ariel fan, large mistakes or changes such as the sisters ages and personalities kind of makes me feel they weren't so bothered about the actual characters more so about the money they can make off them

Another theatrical re-release would also be great. The merchandise they brought out last time was amazing and really imaginitive, and I still haven't seen the movie on the big screen! :(

Only more stories and things like books,Ariel's Enchanted Tale will be released sometime. Then there will be a new Platinum Edition on Blu-ray,Ariel's Beginning and Little Mermaid II will be re-released and maybe someday they"ll re-release the series. Also I think there will be a Disney Mermaids line, not after the Ariel And Her Sisters products, they might be a Disney Dwarfs line but not Mermaids one. There will be more Disney Princess with the sisters like the Ariel And Her Sisters and more but they won't get their own line. Like that Bunnies like,it's stopped.

I'd like a feature exploring Ariel and Eric after the wedding but before Melody. Some kind of action/adventure/romance. If there was some way to tie it in to Ursula's origin story that'd be awesome.

I like that idea. As much as I prefer Ariel's adventures with her friends under the sea, I think it would be really interesting to see how her relationship with Eric develops as she adjusts to life in the human world. I would especially like to see Eric's first visit to Atlantica. Disney really should have made a better version of Saban's TLM series, with the mermaid and the Prince having adventures together on land and underwater. I like the Saban series, but it would be a lot more fun with Disney's characters.

Agreed: four movies would be overkill. I'm perfectly content with three TLM movies.
But if everything else was of quality, then I'd like to see more songs. If I could somehow find a way to resurrect Howard Ashman, that'd make things 10,000 times better, but something tells me that wouldn't work. XD
If there was a new TV series, I'd watch it, but (don't hurt me!) I'm not too fond of the current series. If Glen Keane stepped up and worked on a new series, that'd be a different story. That would be a dream come true.
I'd love to see a short about Ariel adjusting to the human world. Something brief, cute, and oozing Ariel's fundamental trait: her innocence. More canon would satisfy the fans no matter what it was.

I would love to see a mash up of stories into one movie starting off on land with Melody being around 16 like Ariel in the first movie, on the day of Ariel and Eric's anniversary! The opening 10 minutes or so would be Melody running off into the sea to visit Atlantica while Ariel watches from a balcony and talks to Sebastian about how care free it was in the sea/being young then SWOOSH we dive with Melody down to Atlantica and time rewinds as fish flutter past, sea weed waves about and coral sits there looking pretty. Then we could have a 20 minute or so flashback of Ariel in her younger days being her usual adventurous, exuberant self (20 minutes is about the same time as an entire episode so they could make it pretty cool:)). After whatever predicament is solved at the end of that 20min flashback, it's back to the present with Melody entering Atlantica and greeting Triton and the sisters (some of which would surely have kids of their own). Melody would talk to Triton and the Sisters about 'things' being ready everyone being excited. They swim off to get ready and the scene changes to Eric arriving at the castle after being out sailing. He gets off the ship and greets Ariel where she asks if he remembers what they day is, he teases he doesn't but pulls out a bouquet and they reminisce about when their life together began and WOOSH another flashback. A song starts up showing Ariel and Eric on romantic picnics, horseback riding, sailing/lagoon boat rides and whatnot. Eric would mention Melody and Ariel asks Grimsby if she's back yet, he says no and makes up an excuse for Ariel and Eric to get out of the castle. Follow Ariel and Eric as they walk wherever Grimsby sent them chatting about how Melody has a handful of admirers and how she's growing up so fast..have a few minutes of everyone in the castle trying to hurry with decorations/flowers, a band setting up somewhere outside, Carlotta and Chef Louis and Max all shown. Go back down to Atlantica where Melody and all the sisters/Triton are finishing getting ready (find some way to start up a song) they all leave the castle - back on land Ariel and Eric break into song with the same beat as they head back to the castle where everyone there is finishing the last decorations/details, back to Melody and all the merpeople swimming thru beautiful coral and sea life with lots of fish, LOTS of merpeople (I really didn't like how all the merpeople in TLM3 had the same sort of color tones for their tails and all had the same color fins:( ) everyone's swimming about, Triton in his chariot, heading to the surface. Ariel and Eric arrive at the castle where everyone finishes the last lines of the song all climactic and happy right before sunset where the sky is still bright but shows tones of pink and red and yellow, big fluffy clouds on the horizon and the band strikes up signaling someone's arrival and Melody comes splashing up as all the merfolk start to surface. Ariel looks stunned and excited Eric smiles. Enter Ariel's Sisters as she runs out to greet them as Triton rises and she runs over and they all wish them a happy anniversary and they break out into one last song, and end with Triton making another rainbow It would be really cool to show some of the old characters in the first flashback where Ariel is still living in Atlantica, maybe even bring back Urchin and have him at the end, too. If they do it right it would be a huge celebration and a more suiting closing to the TLM movies. I remember King of Thieves worked well similar to this. But other than another movie I'd love merchandise of Ariel and the sisters really bad :/ I'd love to see a good line of dolls. Another cd would be a great idea, all those TLM cds they made were so fitting and fun! I'd like to see more miscellaneous animation of Ariel if nothing else. GOOD animation.

Macgregor, that is a beautifully written summary! If you had the time you should really write a whole fanfiction based on that!
I'd totally love this plot for a movie, rather than the silly TLM:AB. What a waste of time and money...

I'm not asking what you think will actually happen. What would you like if it was up to you? Oh,now that's a different story. Well,I whould continue the series with some new episode, series of books about Ariel and her sisters with maybe more prequels stories or some stories about how Ariel, her sisters,Flounder and Sebastian (Not only the sisters and Ariel but Flounder and Sebastian will get their own books too) getting used to Ariel living on land, more comics and a comics about Ursula's origins, and Ariel's Enchanted Tale. And of course new Platinum Edition on Blu-Ray and a series boxset. And I disagree with Random Prince and miklc about the sisters in Ariel's Beginning, exept Attina who was annyoing they were funny and great characters, not some mean brats that cruelly makes fun of Ariel like the series and old comics,or even the Princess Magazine stories (And they always made Ursula dumb in those stories).

Meh, personally, even IF they were exactly like their TV series counterparts (Though, personally, I think the only one who actually was a mean brat was Arista, the others didn't seem that bad.), It still doesn't change the fact that, for a supposed prequel to the Original Movie, it completely messed up on the timeline, so much that it cannot even connect to the original movie.
I mean, if you've read the posting on that TV series thread I made that showed all of the plotholes that arise trying to compare it to the original movie, they're enough to fill a house and still have more. Disney, if you're going to try and retcon Return to the Sea and the TV series along with it, at least try and make it sensible and not make the original Movie not exist in the process.
Anyways, I think a Prequel involving Ursula's Origins might prove useful (especially since they didn't even try to explain Ursula's origins in "Ariel's Beginning".). I also think they should include a unique villain into the mix (And this villain is probably going to be quite a dark villain, as she doesn't plan to rule Atlantica, or even the Oceans, for that matter. She plans to destroy absolutely everything in existance. Did I mention that she's also a demon and might be an influence towards Ursula's turn to the dark side?)

Even if it doesn't make sense with the movie (And I know it doesn't) it's still a good movie and the sisters were much better. And actually,ALL of them exept Alana who was pretty nice and went with Ariel and helped her get ready to a party with that dumb Pearl, they were mean brats, like how they made fun of her after she asked Triton to ride Story and how they were having fun in Calliope Dreams before Ariel's performance. And maybe are saying that people shouldn't consider it but just watching a new story about Ariel?.

Oh you've got me wrong, it's not that I don't like the sisters in TLM:AB I'm actually glad that they got so much screen time because that obviously leads to a bigger fan base for the sisters, and so my heart hopes this will in turn lead to more sister merchandise! Lol, well I can dream, anyhow I find it annoying that Disney created so many quite big continuity differences in this movie! Oh and I another theatrical re-issue would be amazing!!!! I would also like to know more about Ariel and Eric post-TLM and pre-TLM2, as some of you have already mentioned. A part of me is thinking that this is an actually possibility, after all Disney seem to be place Ariel in her human form of most of their recent Ariel themed merchandise (not to mention the official DP site), and they released that Enchanted Tales book, in which Ariel's story was set on land, so we will see anyhow...

Oh,so you just mean that you don't like how much erros they made? I again don't count things like Little Mermaid II,I see your point, anyway I prefer how they are in Ariel's Beginning, they only said that Aquata was the oldest one in comics? (Like that awful comics about the eel people ). There will be sisters merchandise ,like those Ariel,Arista and Alana on cars toys,I just don't think that there will be Mermaids line unless anyone heard something about it but if there will be it will be neat . They do seem now to make stories about her life on land after she merried Eric,a few stories can work but I"ll actually be sorta disappointed if ALL of her stories will be on land, because I always like to hear about her life in Atlantica and also most the other Princesses's stories are after the movie (Like Snow White,Cinderella,Mulan,Aurora,Jasmine),wait,Snow White still lives with the Dwarfs in her stories? or it is after she merried The Prince?.

Thanks, Prince Of Bubbles! I realized after posting that I should have done that in the first place as it's more of a 'what if TLM4' than just TLM in the future..sorry^^'' Well,I whould continue the series with some new episode, series of books about Ariel and her sisters with maybe more prequels stories or some stories about how Ariel, her sisters,Flounder and Sebastian (Not only the sisters and Ariel but Flounder and Sebastian will get their own books too) getting used to Ariel living on land, more comics and a comics about Ursula's origins, and Ariel's Enchanted Tale. Having books with stories focusing on the other characters besides Ariel would be great! I remember back in the 90s you could find books every now and again like that with Sebastian or Flounder. Not only would they be totally fun but Disney could make a bunch of $ as kids would love to hear/see stories about life in Atlantica from different perspectives. What would be really awesome would be a line of books following the different characters in a box set. They could have a book for each sister, Sebastian, Flounder, Scuttle, Triton, and of course Ariel. I think those would sell really well with the release of TLM on blu ray. About being re released in theaters; related to this littleariel.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=disney&action=display&thread=3875 topic, I remember hearing a couple years ago that Disney wanted to remake all their classics in 3D. Maybe this reworking with Beauty and the Beast is the beginning of updated versions of the classics and if so maybe they will all see theaters once again. Although TLM already had a re release in '98, it's such a huge hit that if it got upgraded there's no way it couldn't see the big screen again! (well..if BATB doesn't do well with it's re release I doubt they'll go on:( let's keep our fingers crossed.)

What would I like to see? Well, I would love to see some follow ups to certain characters in the TV series, to the first movie, and stuff like that. I hate when they make characters, like in the TV series, yet they aren't in any of the movies at all, or not even mentioned.

The problem is that the TV series has been more or less written out of existence by Ariel's Beginning, so it's unlikely to be referred to in future merchandise.
