Let's talk about Snow White! I was reading a Disney magazine a couple of days ago and it said they built a lifesize model of the dwarfs' cottage to make it easier for the background artists to draw! No wonder the cottage looks so realistic in the movie.

WOW! I did not know that! That's truly amazing! Disney is very, very innovative.

Yeah, I think out of all the Disney movies, you can really tell how much effort they put into Snow White. Every second of that movie looks like a masterpiece painting! I don't really like Snow White as a character now, but I used to like her a lot when I was younger! My second cousin is obsessed with her (some of you might remember the picture I drew for him). I wonder what makes her so appealing to kids. Maybe it has something to do with how colourful she is. Anybody else really like her as a child?

Snow White has been growing on me. Thats really cool about the cottage, it would be cool of they built life size replicas of Atlantica & Eric's Castle!!! I take bids!!!

I guess by the time they made TLM, they knew how to use miniature models to draw angles and stuff. I wonder if they made the inside of the cottage too! The backgrounds of the indoor scenes seem really accurate... if that makes sense.
Wouldn't it be cool if they used the plans for those reference models and built real versions at the Disney parks?! It would be like walking right into the movie.

Hm, I was never that big of a fan of Snow White. I'm not sure why, but it's never been one of those Disney movies that sort of stuck with me and I fell in love with. :/
I have to admit though, I really like Snow White, the character. It's taken me a while to like her though, her voice used to get on my nerves because it was a bit high pitch. Plus she was that sort of "damsel in distress" kind of fairy tale girl. I tend to like the characters like Belle, Megara, and Esmeralda. But I still think Snow White was great. :]
Stuff I liked about the movie... hm, I liked most of the songs, I think the only ones I didn't like were the ones sung just by the dwarves alone (Heigh-Ho and Bluddle-Uddle-Um Dum). They seemed to go on a little too long to me. That's just me though, I'm really picky when it comes to the songs in movies. If they're not completely necessary they tend to bother me a little.
Anywoo, I of course enjoyed the whole story of Snow White being let go free by the man who was supposed to kill her then eventually being awaken by true love's kiss by Prince Charming. :] To this day I still love the animation used in this movie, it's just... amazing. I prefer it over all this new fancy stuff for sure.

Snow White as been growing on me too. I saw it for the first time in years a few months ago and was impressed. They have an exhibit currently in DCA with backgrounds, storyboards, and other animation related stuff on display. It was great!

I disagree,Snow White is the hero, while Esmeralda,Meg,Kida and etc. are damsels in distress, none of the Disney Princesses are damsels in distress.

Being the main character of a story does not make you a hero! I agree with Emily - she was totally a damsel in distress! I think it was intentional though. I think her voice is annoying too. It wouldn't be so bad if she didn't randomly start warbling every few minutes.

Uh-oh! I know tnaday1 has a history of feuding when it comes to the term damsel in distress. But, during that feud, we looked at some dictionaries, and we found that heroine also refers to the main character of a movie, book, play, ect. Anyway, Snow White voice is annoying at times, but now that I know her voice actress's life story, I feel differently. Adriana Caselotti was the voice of Snow White. After that movie, the only other role she did was The Wizard of Oz, which she said was to keep Snow White's voice original. I've also heard that towards the end of her life, she would sometimes dress up as Snow White for the neighborhood children and sing songs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In fact, Melissa Disney, the current voice of Snow White for promotional things, lived near Adriana Caselotti growing up. Another intresting fact is that Adriana Caselotti re-recorded "I'm Wishing" for Disneyland, at age 75. So Jodi could very well be able to do Ariel when she's 75, also. Anyway, unfortunately, she died of lung cancer in 1997 at age 80. I know her voice can sound annoying, but after I heard that, I simply couldn't say anything else bad about her voice.

Heroine of the story maybe, but that doesn't make her heroic! I'd heard about the re-recording of I'm Wishing. Impressive! Funnily enough I think the current voice of Snow White is a million times more annoying than the original ever was... especially on the Disney's Enchanted Call website!

They also made a scale model of Cinderella's coach. You can see it in a Mickey Mouse Club bonus feature on the DVD. I would think that would be easier than building a whole cottage. I really can't believe they built a life-size cottage. Maybe if they built part of it or half-life-size, sheesh!

Don't feel bad. Before I knew Adriana's story, I had no bounds for expressing how much I hated Snow White's voice. But after I heard that, I simply couldn't say anything bad.

Thnaaw, it's ok to say Snow White's voice is annoying. She was going for a very old fashioned sound and we're just not used to that these days. I heard her talking on a radio show about Disney music (I think that part was recorded quite a while ago) and she sounded much more normal!

Yeah, I'd love to hear her natural voice. I do wonder how natural Snow White's voice is.

Aww, I love Snow White! She just reads innocence, it's practically her middle name. She's definitely a nature advocat, can you imagine her beside Smokey Bear with his, "Only YOU can prevent forest fires!" and she calls in her animal friends...? LOL.
I wasn't too big of a fan of the movie when I was young, her voice tended to get on my nerves after a while. But, hearing her now and really loving the time period that the film was made (I'm a 1930s freak, I love thsoe movies!), I think it's just wonderful. A friend of mine found the DVD for me since it's still in the vault and I didn't have a copy, but I think Snow White is a keeper. Kids love her I think because she is a really good-hearted person, so good-hearted that she's stupidly naiive. All I think of is:
"Are you alone, my pet?" "Why, yes, I am!"
LOL. That always cracks me up. And that Queen, she was excellent, wasn't she, as that old hag!?
