Here's my promised update on the movie. I can't talk about what exactly went on in the clips I saw since I had to sign a forum but hopefully it'll give you an idea of where they are currently at with this film.
It was a privilege to have John Musker and Ron Clements themselves come in and talk to us about the movie. We got plenty of clips ranging from animatics, to pencil tests, to full color.
According to them, only 70% of the movie has been animated so far and only 10% is in full color as of last Tuesday. The plan is for it to be finished by October and the score will be done then.
Randy Newman has already written the songs and we got a sneak peek at the villain's song with what animation was there. Dr. Facilier looks like he'll be an interesting character and his animation looks fantastic so far. If any of you saw Coraline, he's being played by the same guy who did the cat in that.
I don't know how much of the plot was released but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Still, I think it could work and the people we met who worked on it as well as some past Disney films say this was one of their favorites to work on so my hopes are high.
Ron and John also told us that the future of Disney doing more 2D is riding on the success of this film. But then someone else that I saw later says that they will be doing more. Either way, I hope it does well. It looks great from what I've seen.

Every day, I get more and more excited about this movie! It worries me that the future of 2D may ride on this film alone, but I'm pretty sure the world will be excited to see 2D again. Hopefully they market this movie enough that word gets out to everyone.
It's awesome to hear that the crew is as excited about the film, too. It brings my hopes even higher.
