If someone who had never seen a Disney movie asked you which one they should see, which one would you recommend?I put as many as I could on the list. At first I thought I'd go with an old classic like Snow White or Cinderella, but now that I really think about it, I'm going with TLM! Putting aside the fact that it's my favourite, I honestly think it would give someone a good idea of what Disney is all about. If you're not used to watching older movies, Snow White or Cinderella might seem kinda weird, wheras TLM is more up to date but still has that classic quality. Even if the story didn't appeal to that person, I think the characters would be varied enough to keep them entertained and hopefully they would be impressed by the animation and music. My second choice would be Cinderella - a great story with serious and funny sides. Beauty and the Beast also has that classic Disney quality, but I don't think it would make a good first Disney movie. It's pretty heavy on the musical numbers and romance, which a lot of people find kinda boring. I can't say it's one of my favourites. I just think TLM has the best balance. What do you think would be a good first Disney movie?

I'd recommend Sleeping Beauty, because I think it's just very Disney! It has everything that Disney stands for, and just in the right doses. Of course all the other movies are awesome, but I think that Sleeping Beauty would make a person want to see other Disney movies.

I always thought Sleeping Beauty was quite different to all the others, especially the style of the artwork and the classical music. I guess the story is very Disney though.

Holy Bananas! Thats a big poll! I'd definitely go with Cinderella hands down. The Little Mermaid is my favorite movie, but I think when you want to introduce someone to "Disney" I'd want to introduce them to classic Disney. I think thats where the heart of Disney is and it's in the time frame Walt Disney was alive. TLM is a great movie, but I think if someone saw that movie then Cinderella, it may be a bit of a let down. It's cool to see how something begins and then see how amazingly it transforms! Oh and if any of you say Atlantis or Brother Bear, I'm gonna bop you on the head! In a loving way of course!

That's really tough, but the first one I thought of when I read the subject of this thread was Beauty and the Beast. To me, that movie embodies the magic, soul, and just... life of Disney! Not to mention it has a great lesson that goes along with it. I actually knew this kid at my old school, and he had never seen any Disney movies! I was horrified! Being brought up surrounded by Disney, I've seen pretty much every one out there. But I remember telling him "Well, if you don't see any other Disney movies, you have to at least see Beauty and the Beast." The music is just phenomenal! I mean, there's not one song in that movie I have to fast-forward through. Every time I watch it, the songs are still fresh, up-beat and just fun to listen to! Unlike some Disney movies where you're sitting there wondering when the song will end. The characters as well brought so much to the table. Every one of them had a role, and all of them worked together to make the movie an absolute masterpiece. The way Belle and the Beast were so different, but the same at the same time was great. Then the comedy relief from Lumiere and Cogsworth was wonderful as well. I also really liked Gaston as the villian. Like, rather than having an obvious villian who has magical powers and is just down right evil, there's this guy who is beautiful on the exterior, but on the interior he's just mean and nasty. He's also funny too though, I don't like when the villians are too serious. Gaston is definitely one of my favorite Disney villians. I think my second choice would be the Little Mermaid though. As Random said, it's a classic but it's still fresh and new to this day. Plus those characters are just so bubbly and young, ambitious and memorable. All of that just screams Disney to me. :-) But I'll still go with Beauty and the Beast. It just stands out in my mind so much, ever since the first time I saw it when I was like five. There's just something there... (haha ) that I can't explain.

I would go with TLM as well because that's how I got introduced to Disney and is bascially what I learned to expect from the company: good story, fun characters, great music... yup!

The Little Mermaid of course! It's the greatest animated movie Disney has ever created.

Since most people in the world think Beauty and the Beast is the best Disney film ever, and the only one nominated for Best Picture, I chose that one.
But it may also mean a let down for anyone who wants to watch any other Disney movies after that.

Little Mermaid and Mulan, I guess. They'd have to watch one before the other. You can't watch two movies at the same time. We'll watch Little Mermaid first, then Mulan second. Problem solved!

TLM FOR SURE!!! i also heart Lion King, and mary poppins, and beauty and the beast. Disney movies today aren't that great anymore (besides disney/pixar movies and TLM 3). Yours Truly, -Lara

it depends if that person is a boy or a girl. cause most boys i know wouldn't watch disney films because they say they're girly . i've had so many disputes on this subject. so for a boy i'd recommend treasure planet or hercules or the hunchback of notre dame. and then i'd convince them to watch TLM or some classics. and for a girl i'd recommend TLM or the hunchback of notre dame Oh and if any of you say Atlantis or Brother Bear, I'm gonna bop you on the head! In a loving way of course! OMG so much Atlantis hate!! I don't get it lol And Brother Bear is such a sweet movie! How can you not like all that cuteness? xD yes brother bear was cute but that's it. i quite enjoyed it but it's the kind of movie that you see you like then forget about it. as for atlantis, i don't understand the hate either. i quite liked it actually. it somehow felt different. plus the style was cool and you have to like kida and helga, they're stunningly beautiful.
