Is anyone else here jealous by the much more attention this movie gets than The Little Mermaid? IMO TLM is one of Disney's best fairytale movies. Where is our see The Little Mermaid in 3D in theatre's at? I have nothing against The Lion King, I know it is very popular and Disney has made lots of money from it, but The Little Mermaid is up there right with it and the fans should be able to see it in 3D as well. Does anyone else here agree?

i know Disney really needs to get to work on TLM Bluray indeed. Looking at Platinum and Diamond edition release dates it seems it cycles every 6-8 years. But, they don't release more than 2 in the same year. As for Lion King's Platinum, that was released in 2003 while the Little Mermaid's was in 2006. So, since Lion King's Diamond is in 2011, then Little Mermaid around 2014 (maybe late 2013?). Seems like just yesterday I bought my Platinum DVD. Good times. edit: Little Mermaid 3D? Personally, I would find that a cool novelty but, for me, nothing will outdo something originally done in classic 2D animation. ( IMDB: This was the last Disney animated feature to use hand-painted cels and analog camera and film work. 1,000 different colors were used on 1,100 backgrounds. Over one million drawings were done in total.) That fact is just awe-inspiring.

I AGREE with the whole 2d animation thing! Nothing can be better than the original

While not really a fan of 3D myself, I agree that The Little Mermaid deserves a 3D release in theaters and a decent BluRay edition as well. As one of the most beloved classics produced by Disney, why should it have a different treatment than movies like The Lion King? They should have the same treatment.
