In “Olaf Presents,” Olaf retells Disney classics like “The Little Mermaid.” In Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new series of shorts “Olaf Presents,” Olaf steps into the spotlight and goes from snowman to showman as he takes on the roles of producer, actor, costumer and set builder for his unique “retelling” of five favorite Disney animated tales, including “The Little Mermaid.” Disney Disney+ and Walt Disney Animation Studios have released the new trailer and poster for the upcoming “Olaf Presents” series coming to Disney+.
Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad, is the singing snowman character from the “Frozen” films.
“Olaf Presents” will be a new series of shorts starring Olaf as he recreates moments from Disney Animation classics “The Little Mermaid,” “Moana,” “The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Tangled.”
“Olaf Presents” launches exclusively on Disney+ Day on Nov. 12.
It appears Olaf keeps getting new series and shorts to keep the “Frozen” vibes alive. During the early days of the pandemic, Disney released a new series called “At Home With Olaf,” where Olaf threw snowballs and just did his thing.
But not all of the shorts have been well received. In 2017, Disney released a short film that aired before the Pixar film “Coco” that centered around Olaf.
The film was supposed to be a TV holiday movie but was moved to air before “Coco.” There was speculation that the short film aimed to increase the audience for “Coco” due to fears it wouldn’t draw a big audience. But “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” did not get good reviews.
For example, The Washington Post wrote at the time: “We are creatures of habit, and ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ eventually feels like the grinning house guest who won’t leave, even though the party was supposed to clear out long ago. As each successive song in the four-tune reel cues up, moviegoers’ reactions can be heard to switch from laughing irritation to growing mockery to outright anger.”
