Just watched it, and I loved it! Much superior to TLM 2, animation-wise. They kind of did a mediocre job on TLM 2, but on 3, they got it right. While it ain't like the original, at least it comes close. I'll probably watch it again tonight before bed.

I also enjoyed the storyline as well, and even teared up at some parts. I thought it was worth the wait.

I really liked it. I was very ready to be disapointed, but it was good. I really loved seeing the sisters interact with each other. I was disapointed that they changed the way ariel met flounder but it was the way it was. Does anyone know if they will release a soundtrack. I really enjoyed Marina Del Ray's song...silly as it was.

No doubt about it, this had a good feeling to it, like somebody really cared. What a relief after TLM2. The only thing I noticed is that Ariel didn't have as many singing parts as I expected. Other than that, nicely done. Animation quality: excellent Ariel's expressions and features: excellent Story: excellent Overall feel: excellent Voices: excellent Five stars all the way. Have a GREAT Ariel Beginning Day!! Mike

Its a good movie, but it's not great. I really like the interaction between the sisters, the new "villain", and the animation was definitely better than the 2nd movie. Marina Del Ray and Benjamin are my new favorite sequel characters. They are just too funny! The only bad traits about this movie are really minor, such as Flounder(wrong and annoying personality), King Triton new voice, and the continuity errors linking this movie with the first movie. Certain questions were not answered and not even touched in this movie, for example, Ariel's love for the world above( her grotto), and why Ursula was banished...
Still I love this movie just as much as I loved the series.

I thought it was cute of course part one is the best, I liked that it told the back story of the first part I just wish they would have put Ursula some how in there that way they could have connected both movies. They could have also added why Ariel started collecting human things as well as showing her grotto. Oh and I think they forgot that Ariel and Flounder met when they were younger for those of you who remember the cartoon there was and episode where it showed how Flounder and Ariel met.

I'm glad I'm seeing some mixed reviews here, because I feel the same. I really liked the animation and the whole "family essence". I got a bit teary over Ariel learning about her mother and rediscovery of her love for music.
On the other hand I was really disappointed. I thought the movie was very uneventful it was just like watching an episode from the series rather than a movie. I was kind of expecting more considering I thought Cinderella 3 was really good. I felt it was lacking and for some reason. I felt the familiar characters I was used to were missing some familiarity if that makes any sense. It was kind of mentioned about but a lot of Ariel's qualities we see in TLM didn't seem to exist here.
Overall I'll watch it again. It's good to see Ariel in something new, but I don't know it just didn't feel "right". I still liked it in many ways don't get me wrong....but I'm a tough critic to please when ti comesw to TLM!

i was expecting something like cinderella 3....but cant deny the animation is soo good better than TLM2, i hate that they made ariel and flounder meet again especially that the way they met in the movie wasnt as strong as the one we saw in the series...the series part was way better and convincing...i thought they had a strong plot for that part that would make them want to leave behind the one they did in the series but they didnt :S....marina del ray is the funniest thing in the movie...love that we are geting to know the sisters in a more close level although i hopped arista would still have tghe bratty character she had in the series..and as everyone said i hoped king triton's voice was still the same...but its good to see more of ariel anyway..the wait is over i've been waiting for that movie for over than 2 years....

The sequel was perfectly awesome, the voices great, the animation much better than tlm2 and it really lived up to the potential of the first film, so all in all I loved it :3

It's a great prequel.. Great animation and music and I really liked the story. I thought it had very funny scenes as well as very emotional ones. It is a lot better than TLM 2.

I too have the whole mixed feelings thing going. But since I went in expecting to be completely disappointed, I actually really enjoyed the movie.
I LOVED seeing all the sisters interacting and finally knowing what happened to Ariel's mother. I also loved Benjamin the Manatee with a love that is stupid. He was awesome. My friends made sure to quickly inform me that no, I could not have a manatee.
But at the same time I wanted to ask the writers if they even saw the first movie because there were some things that just did not connect.

Even tho its completely different from the first one i LOVED IT better than "Return to the Sea" (surprisingly) I think it had good messages....it was just different.
Although even if music wasn't Ariel sung only one song and a little of "Shake Sinora", I would of thought that she would sing at the end...

I think I know what the reason for the mixed reactions was: The ending was rushed.
*Major spoilers*
I mean, think about it; Ariel saves Sebastian from a, um, wierd death, (Marina launching herself like a bullet while trapped in a kind of undersea log? What? How exactly was she going to "get rid of" him if her arms were trapped? I don't even understand how she made Ariel unconcious then!), and after a few moments everything is fine and dandy again.
*End Major Spoilers*
Overall, I liked it, and it was pretty satisfying for a sequel. If the ending hadn't been so rushed, it would've been better.
It had a few really funny parts and I just fell in love with Benjamin the manatee instantly. (He was just so squishy looking and acted so, I don't know, overly nice in a non-obnoxious way and just very niaeve.)
It was incredibly refreshing to have a villian who was not related to a previous character in any way. (I really hate that and think it's cheap.) Except I didn't understand how Marina was able to change her tail color. Shouldn't that be permenant? I know she was wearing clothes, but the idea is just wierd to me.
Showing more of Ariel's sister was really nice, but I really like how orginally Adella was the "chubby" mermaid. They didn't make her chubby at all here and that was disappointing, even if she is supposed to be a year younger, it doesn't make much sense.
It was just a tad annoying how Athena looked just like Ariel, but the annoyance lessened since I got to how she looked in the previews, before seeing the movie. At least she got a different eye/hair color. Even the hair styles are similar! I know she's Ariel's mom, but that doesn't mean they have to look so much alike.
Okay, maybe I'll write more later.

That's true with Ariel and her mom looking a like but I look like my mom height and all well except the hair I'm also the youngest not of 7 thank God but it would have been cool maybe. I guess they made them look more a like because they were very much a like with the love of music. :'(
