Disney has announced a number of DVDs scheduled for release this December. The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea Special Edition will street on December 16th with two games, a Jodi Benson-narrated virtual storybook, a new deleted song, and the new Underwater Mer-Venture Challenge game. On the same day, it will be available in The Little Mermaid Trilogy ($50.00 SRP) box set with its 1989 predecessor's Platinum Edition and the recently-debuted Ariel's Beginning. All three movies will dramatically return to the Vault on January 30, 2009.

Disney hasnt stepped up for the 'Special Edition' as presumed, but at least we get one thing of substance, a deleated song ...
Does this apply for the UK as well ?

wow, these are cool news!! A deleted song from TLM 2?? Maybe a song by Ariel, when she is back in the sea and sings how she missed everything etc. That'd be awesome. Hopefully they already animated it before it got cut. I'm excited about its title.

The deleted song sounds promising but the rest is disspointing, we already got a Jodi Benson-narrated virtual storybook in the regular edition, and I bet one of the two supposed games will be the "What am I" game from the original edition aswell, come on Disney you can do better than that! Well I just hope the cover art makes up for it, thats what I'm most looking forward to anyhow

I hoped that it's more, too but I'm surprised by the deleted song. At least one bonus feature I'm really excited about. Interviews with Jodi Benson and Tara Charrendorf would have been great, too, or some behind the scenes-material.
However, don't let the song be Morgana's villain song, please.. let it be one of Ariel.. And I hope it's animated and not just a rough storyboard-sequence. Maybe it's Ariel's scene from the trailer just in full length.

I wonder if the deleted song will have the scene with Ariel looking for Melody in the ship.

Yes, that would be interesting !
But it wouldnt make sense to delete a whole animated song sequence, would it ?

I wondered the same, if he's still in that ship. But the anchor is much smaller in LM 2 than in LM 1, don't you think? (seen when Ariel sings "Oh why did you have to go" in "For a moment")

yeah it does seem a lot smaller because ariel could grab on to that one and the other one she puts her body through it.
