I think Ariel was pretty on model in Whale Of A Tale (I think it had the best animation, her hair in that episode is even moving like the in the film),Metal Fish,The Great Sebastian and maybe even Giggles. In Save The Whale and In Harmony she's WAY off-model,in the In Harmony she even had hugh tooth,In Eel-ectric City the animation was okay but Ariel's hair was pink .

I've been meaning to start a thread about this! I watch the episodes all the time and I'm starting to really notice the different ways the animators draw the characters. I think Ariel looks really good in the first season, apart from Stormy, In Harmony, Marriage of Inconvenience, Eel-ectric City and Trident True. Double Bubble is definitely the best! She also looks great in Resigned to It. They obviously put a lot of effort into that episode. She looks ok for most of the second season, but I don't like how they drew her in the third at all. King Crab is by far the worst! Sebastian looks great in the first season and some of the second, but by the third he looks really bad, especially his teeth!

Hm yeah, I also noticed how not just Ariel, but as Random mentioned, Sebastion and also Flounder change. It bothers me a bit because I'm so used to how they all look in the original movie, then when they change through out the seasons of the series it throws me off and it's also all I can concentrate on. haha Maybe that's just me being weird though. Ariel's personality seems a bit different in some ways through out the series as well to me.

Yeah,Flounder looked bad in Heroes,T'ank You For Dat,Ariel,A Little Evil and In Harmony (To be honest-In Harmony is one of my favorite episodes but exept Sebastian and maybe Triton almost everybody looks bad). Sebastian looked Weird in Beached (Escpially when Flow and Ebb captures him).

Gah! to the second to last picture. Somebody call Batman, she's obviously been infected by the Joker's toxin.

I always noticed that episode having really weird animation! I'm glad somebody else noticed it! I always just thought they wanted to make Ariel really "expressive" in that episode.

I always just thought they wanted to make Ariel really "expressive" in that episode. Yeah, I think so, but it seems like they went kinda overboard. The whole episode is very lively and it seems like the animators' main focus was on the movements of the characters, as opposed to their general appearance. I don't think the balance is right and many of the characters' expressions and movements look overly exaggerated, but like I said before it's ok because the more caricatured style suits the funny storyline. It's just interesting because I'm sure we don't see the characters (or at least Ariel) drawn quite like that in any of the other episodes.

I saw that picture, and they first thing that sprung into my mind was: 'Vanessa!' I don't know, it might be just me, but she looks like her there, the evil look and animation and everything. I have yet to see all of the series episodes, but I too noticed when Ariel was off model. It bugs me the way her hair colour changes in different episode. =P

It bugs me the way her hair colour changes in different episode. =P Good point! In some of the earlier episodes her hair looks pink and in the third season it's dark red. I think the colour was best in the second season.
