I just found an old clip of Voyage from 1999. I had no idea that it looked different when it was first opened. It has some dialogue between Sebastian and king Trition that isn't in the current show and "Part of Your World" was a little different too. I miss the old version.  The first time I saw it, they still had the scene with Triton and Sebastian, Ariel sat in the big shell with the cool tail, and the hands appeared when Ursula took her voice. She did sing all of Part of Your World though. The best thing about the old version was the turtle in Under the Sea! He's still pretty funny, but I loved the old one.  |

The old version was really nice, I remember that dialogue between Triton and Sebastian.
The old tail wasn't that great in my opinion, but the picture was so small I couldn't see anything.
I much prefer Ariel's shell chair tho, and the hands that take her voice away in Poor Unfortunate Souls was really cool.
I wonder why they got rid of those...

I saw the original show just weeks after it premiered back in 1992. And I have seen the current show via videos on YouTube, and I have to say that animatronic tail looked freaky! The new tail is waaaay better IMHO.

It was an animatronic tail? I didn't know that... but seeing a better picture of the old tail, I can say it WAS much better than the new one. As I may have mentioned the new one looks MOLDY!!

I love both versions, but I'm such an old school freak.
My favorite is, and will always be, the original.
I liked the tail better just because of how it moved,and it was much more 'realistic'.
I have a ton of videos from the old version. Hmm...I should get around to watching those again.

I expect that picture was taken while they were still working on the show. It doesn't make sense to use a blue curtain as a background if they could have used the stage. I agree that the fins and hair look really weird, and she makes it look worse by holding it like that! |
