Okay, here is yet another fanfic to add to the mix. Honestly, school is quite taxing so my posts have been limited, and I can't promise timely installments (unless I'm REALLY encouraged ). Wanted to try my hand at one of this, so here you go!THE MARRIAGE “Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat?” Ariel giggled at herself humming the familiar tune; she took a carefree spin around her new quarters and sighed. Never did she imagine that one-day, she would have a collection worth singing about. Eric’s palace by the sea housed all sorts of human treasures; each day held something new for her to discover. She danced over to a golden cord and pulled, a very prompt Carlotta appeared within seconds. The experienced housekeeper before entering the room, abruptly stopped in the doorway. ‘Is something wrong?” Ariel asked. “No . . .it’s just that . . . well . . . I’m just incredibly happy you are a part of Eric’s world. And that I get to dress his bride on her wedding day.” “Oh Carlotta” she dabbed her moist eyes with the edge of her robe sleeve. “Let’s get you dressed, dearie.” While Carlotta left to summon the other servants, and her wedding gown, Ariel took in her surroundings. Though she’d only stayed in the guestroom for a week, and three days, Carlotta had been most thoughtful in choosing the temporary room. It was nestled in one of the many turrets overlooking the sea and motifs of ocean mysteries abounded. Ariel remembered how surprised Eric was when she’d gone through every land myth regarding the sea, and asserted their truth. Her thoughts did not go long uninterrupted. Within moments the hustle and bustle of lady’s maids, servants, and dressmakers all invaded Ariel’s tiny quarters. “The ribbons, the ribbons, the ribbons!” Called a fussy seamstress. “Now hold still dearie.” Carlotta said. “My, Miss Ariel you is right pretty!” a misplaced galley girl reviewed. “Well, Gretchen, I was told that the court musician did love that girl, only to find out she’d off and married his brother!” a servant gossiped. With the dressing done, the accessories began. Wig makers, jewelers, and cobblers paraded in to persuade the bride into their wears. “What do you think of this wig? It’s powered gray, which is all the rage you know!” “I’d rather not.” A very disoriented bride stammered. “Well! How about a necklace to compliment that exquisite skin?” “Um, I’ll see.” “Shoes! You’ll need shoes!” “Yes of course but . . .” “QUIET!” the commanding voice of Carlotta stopped all the commotion in an instant “Now, this is Princess Ariel’s day and I’ll not have it ruined by the lot of you. Everybody out, I’ll ask Ariel what she wants, and call you back in accordingly.” As the mass filled out, like school children, Ariel mouthed a silent, “Thank you” to the dear woman. “Now, let’s get you dressed.” Hours later Ariel waited in yet another room, this time on the Wedding Ship Atlantica, for music to sound her cue. With just a hasty week to plan her wedding, Ariel was surprised at how well everything came together. Her dress was white, appropriately, with a sea-green trim and complimented her body. The wigmaker had been persuaded that perhaps her natural beauty should shine through, and he let her thick red tresses hang under a sheer veil attached to a gold crown. A creaking of the boat signaled the rise of people. Stately horns sounded, fitting for the marriage of two future monarchs. And with sweet stringed instruments the doors unfolded to present a Little Mermaid to her people.

So far I like it a lot. Props on starting on the day of the marriage, I have yet to see a TLM fic do that. My one complaint is that because of this line: Never did she imagine that one-day, she would have a collection worth singing about. I now have the song "Something to Sing About" from the Buffy musical episode stuck in my head. "Life's a show and we all play a paaart..." *Cough* Nice job.

I like it so far. It's really cute and the last line gave me goosebumps. "And with sweet stringed instruments the doors unfolded to present a Little Mermaid to her people."

Okay, a wee bit more: (Now that I've covered the movie, it will pick up the pace. Thank you all for your kind comments!! ) One. Two. One. Two. Her feet stepped perfectly in time with the music, a slower remnant of a song they both knew well. Go on and Kiss the Girl . . . A wave of giddy sixteen-year-old excitement took over, “O my Gosh! He looks fantastic! I can’t believe I’m marrying my Eric!” With the last strain of the short chorus she arrived at the front of the aisle and took her place next to her Prince. The ceremony was solemn and reverent, reminding the couple of their responsibilities. Rule together, and produce heirs. Nothing could describe Ariel’s feelings as she promised herself to Eric for the rest of her life, and he to her. Their kiss was just right – short yet passionate; interrupted by Max with a sloppy kiss of his own. Masterfully breaking the attention Eric’s dog managed to also break the silence and bring a round of applause and cheers from the gathered crowd. “Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, take your first walk as husband and wife.” Said the aged priest with a smile. Eric offered his arm, which Ariel took gladly, and they strode down the white runner, receiving their subjects. To Ariel, the most important guest was not on the boat, but under. Ariel broke away from Eric and went to the railing where King Triton of Atlantica had ascended on a spout of water to see his youngest daughter. “I love you Daddy.” She whispered with a strong voice. Then Eric bowed to the mer-king, which was acknowledged with a nod. Resuming his place next to Ariel, Eric held his beloved tight and gave her father a reassuring look, “I will take care of her.” Satisfied, Triton lowered himself back to the waters, where the rest of Atlantica’s citizens treaded. The former mermaid waved to her people, and they waved back; then descended to the waters just as swiftly as they came.

*What a soft-shell I'm turning out to be!* Didn't want to keep you all waiting! A wee bit more. (Is it better to post in little sections - or long ones??) “Part of Your World – like that?” Ariel asked after holding out the last note of her melody. Eric beamed. Ariel had her answer. They had only been married a few short hours, and breathtaking ones at that. Eric had asked Ariel to recreate their meeting, and she had happily agreed. “Just like that.” He finally said, approving, “only now I’m awake to appreciate your concert!” the prince said with a laugh. Eric rolled over to be side by side with Ariel, his Ariel! Amazed at his new wife, he gave her a spontaneous kiss. She sighed and ran her fingers through his thick black hair, “Oh Eric.” In the past few hours, Ariel could not believe how much she’d grown and matured. She knew not if it was her love for Eric, the responsibilities of a not-so-distant future Queen, or a coming of age, perhaps a mix of all. Her epiphany was quietly thought over. “Something the matter?” Eric asked, concerned over his wife’s dimmed eyes and serious countenance. “Nothing.” He looked at her with a doubting face, “Everything!” she moaned, throwing her head on the pillow. “In Atlantica I was never going to rule, I was the youngest. And now, here I am, married to a prince, a king, and I will be queen. What will happen? I’m so scared Eric, so afraid.” Only compassion was found in her husband’s eyes, “We’ll talk about this later. After our bridal week, yes?” Ariel giggled, “Of course.”

Awww! I'm really enjoying this fic! The only thing is, at the end, maybe Eric should say "honeymoon" instead of bridal week?

(Just a wee bit more!)
The remainder of their honeymoon was spent sailing the ocean, and stopping at various islands and ports along the way. Frolicking in the ocean, relaxing on the shore, strolling around the towns, and – when time afforded – taking carriage rides around the country. Ariel and Eric were thankful to have the ship to themselves. Apart from select staff and crewmembers who were rarely seen (the wedding party had long since boarded a ferry and returned home), they were free to enjoy and learn about the other in privacy. Two uninterrupted weeks passed by all too fast, and the nuptials were soon within swimming distance of Eric’s palace.
Grimsby, Carlotta, and a handful of servants welcomed Ariel and Eric ashore.
“Splendid to see you both safely returned” Carlotta said brightly.
“Though you could have sent a message to inform us the pair of you were still alive.” Added Grimsby dryly. “Did everything, um, commence as expected?” he questioned.
The newlyweds exchanged knowing glances. “I guess so.” Eric responded with a sly grin. Ariel stared at her husband with shock, then delight.
“Oh! Let’s get you settled.” Carlotta fussed. “John! Arrange to have their trunks moved to the master’s chamber.”
“Yes, thank you Carlotta. Now if you would excuse us.”
She nodded her head “Your Highnesses.”
With quick bows and curtseys the assembly departed, leaving Ariel and Eric on the landing. Once clear of any spectators Eric pulled Ariel into a tight embrace and kissed her with the same passion he’d shown over the last fourteen days. She looked to her husband’s eyes with deep satisfaction. “We’re home.” He whispered hoarsely.
Savoring the moment, yet realizing the setting sun and accompanying night breeze, they made their way inside.

(ariel7angel - I'm glad you're enjoying that! I did want to make them growing adults, they are married, after all! And it's nice to see a royal marriage that, well, works!) MORE! Their trance was broken as soon as the palace doors swept open. A flurry of servants and maids rushed around, making final preparations for the newlywed’s homecoming. “Oh! You’re not supposed to come in yet!” Carlotta exclaimed. “Well we could leave again.“ Ariel tried to calm the harried housekeeper. “No, no, that’s quite alright dear girl.” Grim stated very assertively, coming down the stairs. “Carlotta, my dear, I’m not sure what else could be done.” “You’ve even dusted the duster, miss!” a servant girl piped, followed by hearty laughs. “Let’s begin, shall we?” the prim man said gesturing around the grand hall; clamoring pots and pans had stopped, servants and maids had taken their places. Ariel’s eyes followed his hand, pointing towards a rather large object veiled with a white sheet. Eric’s eyes followed Ariel. “Ahem.” Eric snapped to his wife’s attention, accompanied by a slight grin. Ariel gave her husband a playful look of warning. “Your Royal Highnesses, we, your devoted staff, felt it proper to give you both a token of our deep affection, loyalty, and congratulations.” Grim waited for a dramatic moment, “Giovanni, the curtain, please.” An Italian man swept the veil off the structure with practiced grace. The grand hall gasped. Underneath lay a statue, constructed from pure marble, of Ariel and Eric. Their pose was one assumed just two weeks before, on the wedding ship. Eric stood with a slight bow, arm waiting for a delicate hand. Ariel was gazing into his eyes with a happy smile. Somehow rock had captured the essence of love, and preserved it forever. “Why, it’s, wonderful!” Ariel exclaimed. “Grim, you beanpole, you shouldn’t have!” “Yes, I know.” He retorted stately. “If I may” the foreign man began, “the statue stands six feet tall, on a two foot pedestal. It is made entirely of marble, carved by my own hand. I am, ah, very proud of this work, it is my finest ever.” “And competed in record time.” Grimsby added. “We had half the work already finished. The sittings for your misplaced statue, Eric, were most helpful. For you Ariel, Giovanni was present at the wedding, took careful notes, and asked Carlotta several questions.” “It’s fantastic.” She said awestruck, then touched the old man’s hand, “Thank you.” He looked at the sixteen-year-old with glossy eyes; then, composing himself in a matter-of-fact way, “I wonder what did happen to that old statue, at the bottom of the ocean I’d imagine.” “More or less.” Ariel whispered. “At any rate, it’s where it should stay!” Eric said under his breath. “Now if you two will follow me, there is a feast prepared in the banquet hall.” Carlotta ushered her master and mistress into yet another room. “Giovanni, Grimsby, please come along.” “One moment, there’s something I wish to speak with Giovanni about.” The houskeeper waved him off, “We won’t be holding any food if you don’t hurry.” “I understand, one moment.”

I really like this story, and I agree that it's nice to see them a little more mature. I really liked this chapter, and I have to laugh about the statue! I included it in my story too (that hideous abomination of a pose) lol! Great idea about the new statue, it's really neat!
