Found this on Perezhilton.com "After over two years, Disney's Little Mermaid musical is closing on Broadway later this summer. The Mouse House then plans to take the show on the road with a national touring company. " Kind of a bummer but at lease it's gonna tour!

I know I haven't posted here in like a million years but as soon as I heard the news I knew I had to say something. I saw the show when it first opened and I thought it was truly amazing. I cried so many times, but in only good ways. I didn't know it was gonna tour tho, but it closes August 30th. I'm hoping to see it in august when my boyfriend comes to visit me, sigh. I can't believe this is happening...

Oh sweet! I heard it was closing and, well honestly I started laughing as after seeing the concept art and realizing how poorly the executed the whole show I was kinda bitter, but I'm glad it's not truely closed as it would have been on stage barely longer than Tarzan and that would be a real shame. TLM > Tarzan incredibley. I hope they change up the set...well, ADD a set..while on tour. I like the new Ariel and Eric but Faith Evans, although she has the looks stunning in that outfit, kind of butchers the role. It's like she's shouting the lines while in the shower getting ready for work..and is already late. She's totally discarded everything Sherie brought to the role. I think it Disney once again misinterpreting the fans thinking that having it sound just like the movie would fix everything. It just made it so much more bland and I thought that would be impossible. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see the show again, I still think it has it's moments.

It just made it so much more bland and I thought that would be impossible. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to see the show again, I still think it has it's moments. Faith Prince? I actually thought she was pretty good when I saw it last month. I prefer Sherie myself, but Faith was better than I thought. Drew and Chelsea were simply amazing, and I got to meet them after the show Beware, spoilers lurk below: I found the set quite clever and inventive actually. The wave curtain was very creative, and I believe it sufficiently gave the illusion of being above or under water depending on what scene we're looking at. The Storm sequence was very well done, and so was the transformation ending Act I. I like the changes they made to the movie, because they really fleshed out aspects of certain characters. For example, they made Eric more perceptive, and pensive, than he was in the movie. I know that he was very pensive in the movie itself, and conflicted when he met Ariel when she was mute, but that is really made apparent in the musical. I especially love when he chooses Ariel over her voice during the contest. The other thing I find striking is the few changes made to Ariel. She seemed more three-dimensional and had a more womanly quality. What I mean, is that she didn't just want to be part of the human world, but she wanted the freedom that comes with adulthood, as well as true love ( hence "Part of Your World"). Another thing I like is how she came across as more teenager-like is during "Beyond My Wildest Dreams." The last concept I like was how Ursula said that both she and Ariel were alike--they were "gals with ambition". They both wanted something. But unlike Ursula, Ariel left joy and happiness in her wake as she pursued what she sought, not pain and suffering.
