The Minneapolis Hennepin Theatre Trust (a group of theaters where all the official national tours of Broadway shows come to in my city) announced its lineup for the 2015-2016 season, and The Little Mermaid is expected to arrive here this October from the 8th to the 18th! I am beyond excited!! I never got to see the show live on Broadway, only via videos and by listening to the soundtrack, and I was hoping a tour would be in the works after the show closed. I love the soundtrack, the cast was incredible and the new songs were terrific. This show introduced me to several fantastic Broadway talents, and also inspires me to shoot for my own dream of playing Ariel someday...However, I have to admit, from what I saw on video, the direction seemed a bit too wacky and bizarre for my taste. Perhaps that may be a factor to why it only ran for a year and a half on Broadway. Apparently this new revival is reimagined with a brand new director, costumer, set designer, and a whole lot more! It seems like Ariel and the merpeople will actual be aerial (pardon the pun ) with the use of stage flying instead of the "heelies" from Broadway. I'm hoping this new revival will iron out some of the kinks and things that didn't work on Broadway, because this story and this music is too darn good not to warrant a great musical! I don't know if any cast or other creative details have been revealed yet, but this news certainly cheered me up on a very blah sort of day Post down below if your local theatre collective has announced TLM in their National Tour season! Also, post if you know additional details about who's who in the cast and creative departments. Links: Hennepin Theatre Trust LinkHuffington Post article about the new production
