For the few of us that still come here
Has anyone seen stage adaptations beside Broadway?
There was a performance in New Jersey after it closed in NY

I've seen the touring adaptation (based heavily on the New Jersey one) and for sure many aspects of the Broadway show were improved, but there was something about it that didn't feel really genuine. Just my thoughts. Still beautiful music and everything. I think my favorite decision was to have Ariel actually be aerial (pun intended ) and fly above the stage in underwater scenes. That was really magical and just really aesthetically pleasing. Let me know if you'd like an audio recording of it, I managed to get one of the whole show with the touring cast.

I saw a small theater presentation on a FIXED budget No Heely's No flourescent sets and pretty mediocore costumes BUT DESPITE ALL THIS THE COMPANY PUT TOGETHER A SHOW THAT DARE I SAY WAS AS GOOD (possibly) BETTER THEN BROADWAY (saw that one twice)
In that version Ursula reveals she killed Ariel's Mother and some scenes were done in differnt times
This one opened with Ariel singing then we cut to Eric inthe boat A bit more banter between the sisters and Ariel admiting that she just might have been selfish
I did not get anaudio recording of thet one BUT I do have the New York ones

I live fairly far away from the major theatrical centres, so unfortunately, I don't really get a chance to see any touring shows.
And as far as I know, a Little Mermaid production has never come here.

There's a production currently at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle starring Diana Huey as Ariel, the costumes look marvelous! Their special effects also look terrific! Videos here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4nXS0UYcmE&index=2&list=PLG4bJvKx7lBs4rwGkcqlAzmvxFw9n9d87The Paramount Theatre in Illinois also has a production going on right now. I was most impressed by their set design, everything looks really pretty! Plus they actually used some gorgeous puppetry for Sebastian and Flounder and a few other characters and I think it works wonderfully, they brought them back to their original designs while giving them a little artistic flair. Videos and photos here: paramountaurora.com/events/little-mermaid/, www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k7IiO6up0QIt's coming back to The Muny in St Louis, Missouri next summer for their 2017 season! They always put on really creative productions, plus they're an outdoor theater and have been around for ever. They've even tackled TLM in the past before in 2011, in the cast they actually had actor Paul Vogt in a sort of drag interpretation of Ursula! I'm sure their new production will offer a fresh take and lots of talent. Here's photos from their 2011 production of TLM: www.playbill.com/article/casting-complete-for-munys-little-mermaid-featuring-paul-vogt-as-ursula-com-180585It's really big in my state, Minnesota. Chanhassen Dinner Theatre did TLM a couple years ago, the TUTS touring cast swam by the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis last year, now that it's up for license on MTI there were dozens of community theaters putting on TLM this summer (I auditioned for 3 and, well you know the story). Speaking of, there's another local theatre company doing TLM this spring that I might audition for, but I think they're doing the Junior version so Ariel might actually have to be younger than me at age 20! Either I'm too old or too young, gosh! š
