From Uproxx: Music Halle Bailey’s Etsy Jewelry Shop Completely Sold Out In Just A Few Minutes Carolyn DrokeContributing Writer April 13, 2021
Halle Bailey of R&B sister duo Chloe x Halle stays busy. Not only was she Grammy-nominated for their 2020 Ungodly Hour album, but she’s currently living in London while filming the live action remake of The Little Mermaid in which she plays the starring role of Ariel. On top of that, Halle has been making handmade jewelry in the very little free time she has. Halle decided to start selling some of her unique jewelry pieces online, but they were so popular that they sold out in just a few minutes.
It all started when Halle shared a few photos of some of the earrings she has been making for herself, telling her fans that she wanted to start selling some. “been making jewelry for a while but thinking about selling you guys some if you’re interested!!”

Her sister was very on board with the idea. “wow i just love you so much my creative queen,” Chloe responded.

After her original jewelry tweet got some attention, Halle decided to open up an Etsy shop, which she named Hallelujah Jewelry.
hey guys i made an etsy since so many of you wanted some jewelry!! ❤️ t.co/3RsZxKs3hn
— Halle (@hallebailey) April 12, 2021
The singer opened the shop with 50 items for sale. But because Halle has such a big following, all 50 jewelry pieces sold out in under an hour. “lol guyss they’re sold out already i’m sorry,” she wrote shortly after her Etsy shop opened. “i make them by myself so it will take me some time to do all of these but then i will open it again and restock lol love you guys sm.”

"He's great, and it was just honestly a few things and it just wasn't... It's going to be an amazing film."
Awkwafina, who is set to star as the seagull Scuttle in the film, also spoke to Capital about Harry dropping out.
"I think I came on a little bit later [than when Harry Styles was said to be cast as Prince Eric]," said the Raya and the Last Dragon actress.
"I am a big fan of Harry Styles," she said, before praising Jonah Hauer-King, who was finally cast in the role, saying "[Jonah] is really great, too."

From L'Officiel USA: FILM & TV Everything We Know About 'The Little Mermaid' Remake The Disney project is finally underway to bring Princess Ariel back to the big screen.
04.07.2021 by Margherita Meda
After the live-action remakes of Mulan, Cruella, Cinderella, and The Lion King, the time has come to bring another historic Disney princess back to the big screen: Ariel and the rest of the cast of The Little Mermaid.
The songs that accompanied your childhood are returning to reclaim their place in the Olympus of great cinematic successes. Actor Javier Bardem confirmed that the movie began production earlier this year in England. While filming was intended to commence in London in the spring of 2020, like the rest of the film industry, production halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, according to sources, the project will move locations this summer to Sardinia, Italy for an estimated three months.
Directed by Rob Marshall, the cast features big names that intrigue fans of the Disney classic: singer Halle Bailey will take on the role of Ariel, accompanied by Jacob Tremblay as her friend Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle the know-it-all, but gold-hearted seagull, and Daveed Diggs as the crabby, but kind Sebastian. Ariel's love interest Prince Eric will be played by actor Jonah Hauer-King. Harry Styles had originally been offered the role but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. The inimitable Melissa McCarthy will play Ursula, while Javier Bardem will step into the character of King Triton, Ariel's father.
Upon Bailey's casting, many were critical of casting a Black actress as Ariel, however, both Disney and actress Jodi Benson, who voiced the aquatic princess in the original animated film, supported the decision. "The most important thing is to tell the story," Benson said while adding, "the spirit of a character is what really matters."
The audience expects a lot from this film, considering that Ariel has always a fan favorite, but given Marshall's experience will major Disney adaptations (he also spearheaded Mary Poppins Returns and Into the Woods) it seems that there is nothing to fear. Regarding the soundtrack, it will be a mix of new, original songs and old favorites like "Under the Sea" and "Part of Your World." Alan Menken, composer of the original soundtrack, will join forces with Hamilton writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, to write new tunes for the underwater creatures.
Meet The Little Mermaid Cast
Halle Bailey Bailey is most notable for being one half of Chloe x Halle, a musical duo with her older sister. The girls have been successful in their music careers, flourishing under the guidance of their mentor, the one and only Beyoncé. Though born almost two years apart, they also star as twins on the popular show Grown-ish.
Jonah Hauer-King After Styles turned down the role, Disney cast Hauer-King to play opposite Bailey. The 25-year-old British actor has held roles in A Dog's Way Home, Ashes in the Snow, and the BBC television series World on Fire. He was also previously in the 2017 BBC adaptation of Little Women, opposite Maya Hawke and Kathryn Newton.
Javier Bardem Bardem will lend his features to the oceanic King Triton, Ariel's father. The Spanish actor holds an accomplished list of credits, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe for his performance in No Country for Old Men.
Jacob Tremblay At 14, Tremblay has already captured the hearts of audiences with his stunning performances in Wonder and Room, the latter of which earned him a SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, making him the youngest actor to be nominated in that category and the second-youngest to ever be nominated.
Melissa Mccarthy Her comedic works like Bridesmaids, Identity Thief, and The Heat are legendary, while her recent foray into drama with Can You Ever Forgive Me? earned her an Oscar nomination. As the first person cast in the upcoming film, fans are eager to see McCarthy's take on the villainous Ursula. Reports indicate that Kacey Musgraves was offered the role of Ursula's human form, but she passed on the project. It's unclear who has been cast for the part instead.

Ursula will be Ariel's aunt, sister of King Triton. From CBR.com: Disney's The Little Mermaid: Ursula Was Originally Ariel's Aunt In an early concept for The Little Mermaid, Ursula the Sea-Witch almost had a direct connection to Ariel and King Triton as a member of the family.
BY BRANDON ZACHARY PUBLISHED 4 HOURS AGO
The Little Mermaid is one of the most important animated films released by Walt Disney Studios. Coming at a vital point in the studio's history and ushering in the critically acclaimed and commercially beloved period known as the Disney Renaissance, the film actually went through many tweaks during production, including a serious shift in the connection between the heroes and villain of the film. The upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is making Ursula the deposed sister of King Triton, Ariel's father, which was actually a concept considered and subsequently abandoned for the animated film.
The Little Mermaid was one of the earliest film concepts that Walt Disney ever considered for his then young animation studio, as explained by The Nerdist. However, complications in breaking the story ultimately saw Disney shelve the concept to work on other projects. The idea was reapproached almost half a century later when Ron Clements discovered the story in a bookstore and pitched it to then Disney executives Jeffrey Katzenberg and Michael Eisner.
In the original story, the sea witch who makes the fateful deal with the mermaid was unnamed and primarily a plot device. While developing the story, the sea witch began to grow into a new form, with the crew of the film -- including writer and lyricist Howard Ashman -- using the famed drag performer Divine, as recounted by AV Club, as inspiration for Ursula. During development, Ashman also considered directly connecting Ursula to Ariel and Triton by making her Triton's disgraced sister.
This would have added an additional layer to the animosity between Triton and Ursula and made her targeting of Ariel more personal. It was even directly referenced in "Fathoms Below," a scrapped musical number that would have opened the film. The song and the subsequent connection were ultimately cut because, as Clements explained in a behind-the-scenes featurette, they wanted to speed up the narrative.
However, this element is still present in other adaptations of the story produced by Disney. The non-canon novel Poor Unfortunate Soul: A Tale of the Sea Witch confirmed this connection, with Ursula forced to live on land for a time disguised as a human until Triton forced her back to the sea. This helped spurn her towards villainy and played a part in motivating her wrath against her family. The Broadway adaptation of The Little Mermaid also reaffirmed this bond between Ursula and the ocean's ruler, with the musical number "I Want the Good Times Back" delving into her desire to reclaim the power she'd lost when her brother banished her from power.
The upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid seems to be reaffirming this connection as well, placing it at the core of Melissa McCarthy's performance as the undersea villain. It's an interesting concept, adding a personal layer to the narrative and giving Ursula an additional reason to target Ariel beyond her ambitions to take over the ocean. While it may not technically be canon in the original film, it is an interesting concept and adds a level of complexity to an otherwise one-note -- but largely enjoyable -- villain.
Directed by Rob Marshall, The Little Mermaid stars Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Jacob Tremblay, Daveed Diggs, Jonah Hauer-King and Awkwafina. The film has yet to receive a release date.
