Does anyone here have experience with DCP either in Orlando or Anaheim? (preferably Orlando) I've just applied and made it past the initial application, and the web-based interview, and now I am setting up my phone interview. I'm going in for Entertainment, specifically Character Performer. If all goes well, I'll get to audition for Disney again and hopefully attain my dream of performing at Disney! I have no clue what to expect or if I can even accept a position at all with my current academic plans and financial situation, but I thought it'd be worth a try!
Again, I would really appreciate any advice or tips or stories about DCP and/or the interview and audition process! Thanks so much!

All I can give you is this GOOD LUCK
he** KNOWS I TRIED since 1988 And just gave up in 1995 only to get frustrated almost 10 years later after the aquisition of certain brands
It is/was a very hard company to get into seems you are on the right track
Did not have web computers back then
(LORD sound like my parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I don't know anything about this field sorry.
So all I can do is wish you good luck as well.
However, some general advice is not to hold back, show your enthusiasm, but not so much that's it overwhelming. A dynamic and invested person is probably more likely to be hired then the person who seems as if they're just after a job with no personal interest or passion. If the hiring committee walk out of the room remembering your energy and vibe in a positive way, then you've made a good impression and are much more likely to be considered/kept in mind longer.

My experience years ago is it helps if you have a "unusual" name
Can you say Annette?
Cubby?
Darci Ann?
Jesus?
(These ARE actual names of people at Disney who worked there sure as he** there are MANY others
Back from NYC Toy fair and got ALOT to organize so bear with me
Though Disney's love/HATE relationship with Ariel still abounds Mermaids in general were QUITE relevant (Even in the upcoming My Little Pony film)
Despite Disney's love/HATE relationship Ariel was NOT totally ignored such as she was in 1992 to 1996
A good example was the Splashlings Line
The only other prominent lines was Superheroes be it DC or Marvel(a.k.a Disney)

Just had my interview, I have mixed feelings but overall I walked away feeling mostly good! I was smiling the whole time, kept a really positive energy going, and had really good things to say about my job experience and skills. The only thing is that I may have talked too fast at some points, I had so much I wanted to say and I had prepared a lot, and at times because I was thinking faster than I could speak, I could stutter or stumble over my phrasing a bit. Hoping that doesn't cost me this opportunity. The roles I'm going in for in Orlando, in order of preference, are Character Performer (anything from parade performer, stage show performer, face character, and fur/mascot character), Character Attendant, Children's Activities, and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. I also listed Photopass Photographer and Lifeguard as two additional options I wasn't so interested in, I was asked about those too, but specifically I tried to make sure I could show a lot of my experience for being a Character Performer, because I feel best qualified towards that position and gravitate towards it the most. My name is Lara, I never find it on any of those name keychains or anything like that, always Laura and never Lara, come to think of it my recruiter actually said my name wrong and I never corrected her...that might be an issue. I'm so used to being called Laura and feeling weird about correcting people who call me Laura instead of Lara (my name's pronounced LAW-ruh or LAH-ruh, rhymes with star-a or tiara). Toy Fair sounds like a lot of fun, I was just in NYC this weekend for my birthday trip to see Hamilton (it was AMAZING, of course!). I'll definitely keep you all updated on this process. If I don't make it, it's not the end of the world. I would actually much prefer to work for Disney outside the College Program once I get my degree and all my college money troubles are (mostly) behind me. If I do make it, I would really only accept Character Performer, and for that there's actually one more audition to get placed in a role in entertainment- they mostly need people for parades and for fur characters. Face characters and lookalikes in WDW are reeeeaally overstaffed right now, definitely lowers my chances, but you never know!

Hmm. I didn't know people kept mixing up Laura and Lara. You'd think with Lara Croft being a high profile fictional character they'd know the name well by now.
The one that always irks me is the Sara/Sarah one. SA RA. SAIR AH. Seriously, the absence of the H completely changes the phonetic pronunciation!
I think the first thing to do is just get employed, even if you aren't doing anything more significant then selling snacks, souvenirs or tickets. That way, you are there and have a presence. And in time, you might be able to work that up to your desired role if opportunity comes a beckoning.
I was told this story once about someone who started their career in television like this. They were employed as a stage cleaner, basically, just sweeping up the set between takes. Then this emergency news broadcast happens and there's nobody there to operate the camera, so the Stage Supervisor says to this person holding the broom "Can you use a tv camera?".
So sometimes, it's just about being there, not the position you have. For example, if one of the performers gets ill or isn't there because of some other reason, someone might say "who do we have with cosplay character experience?" And then you could step forward and say "I do".
Do they have swimming pools at Disney Parks? Or it is just incase someone accidentally falls in the deep water features? Doesn't it require medical training though, like First Aid, specifically Expired Air Resuscitation if someone stops breathing? And I think you also have to be able to swim while pulling another person through the water.

The lifeguard position extends to the Blizzard Beach & Typhoon Lagoon Disney waterparks and also the pools at the resort hotels linked to the Disney Parks and does require additional training as well as your basic CPR/First Aid training.
Also BIG UPDATE: I got accepted! š But...not as a Character Performer (which, I didn't know at the time, you actually have to do a separate audition for even if you get placed as something else because they can't initially place you in Entertainment without an audition. I know a girl who was placed in Housekeeping who, after the audition, is now friends with Rapunzel!)
I am placed as a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique/Pirate League cast member, which I indicated moderate interest in and is something I really like and was excited about, but I thought this whole experience would better pay off if I was cast as a Character Performer because of how much I'm missing back at school with my degree progress. Plus, I don't think right now (timing wise) is the best time for me to embark on the DCP with everything going on with school. And I had a long chat with my parents about the cost and moving out to Orlando...it's just a lot right now, so declining was really my best option. It would've been sooooo much fun to be a cast member (a fairy godmother in training!) at Disney World, but I'm sticking with this decision and will look for more opportunities in the future when the timing is right.
I would much prefer to work for Disney outside of a college program, and after I obtain my degree in Vocal Music, working in an entertainment role outside the ones offered through the DCP. However after I declined, I didn't know that you could audition for Character Performer even if you were accepted in a different role, but I'm still standing by my decision because this semester I'm not super available to be in the DCP. I will give it another go during my extra semester when I have more availability knowing what I know now. Now that I've been accepted and know what to do, I'll be way less stressed when I go and apply next time. Or I'll just go for a part-time/full-time position after I've graduated.
So I declined this particular offer but it's certainly not the end of my Disney dreams, I'd say it's only the beginning!
