Since Disney has come closer to owning EVERYTHING (that would have been hard to believe in 1979) will Anya be in the roster?
Many a you tube vid seems to think that AS FOR ME? I do not know anything anymore
I do hope to see show in NY when at Toy fair BUT even that may have problems

I reviewed all the information on Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. It appears the primary motivation was to regain control of movie distrubution rights Marvel had lost when allowing the X-Men and Fantastic Four movies to be produced.
I couldn't find any data specifically referencing Anastasia, but it was stated that this deal gives Disney access to the entire back catalog of productions, which does include Anastasia. So let's hope it becomes official and they add her to the Disney Princess LineUp. Random thought of the day, what if this means our favorite Russian Redhead gets to cameo in Sofia the First as a "guest princess?" Assuming they are still doing that, I think that plot point was dropped when season 4 started production. I assume this means all the other characters will be added to the Disney lineups as well, Bartok as a new animal sidekick, Dimitri as a "prince" etc. Well, I assume marrying a Princess makes you a Prince, even if that Princess is in hiding and gave up her royal title/throne claim.
Fanbase opinion is that Disney should induct her as a Princess, I found several personal blogs endorsing this point of view.

If buying FOX would make Anastasia a Disney Princess, by that logic wouldn't Princess Leia be one as well after Disney bought Lucasfilm? The Disney Princess selection process has some invisible rules to it, one of the biggest ones being that the movie the Disney Princess originates from needs to be originally made by Disney (or Disney-Pixar). Anna and Elsa aren't even officially Disney Princesses, and so far Moana isn't one either (I've been hearing unconfirmed rumors about a possible coronation, but people are just speculating for now and I don't even think the Moana face characters know if it'll happen yet or not). The Super Carlin Brothers have some excellent videos speculating why a character might be added to the Disney Princess lineup, and also why many "princess" characters are often excluded from the lineup. Here's a playlist to all their videos related to Disney Princesses and their films: www.youtube.com/watch?v=btFxv_jZVfc&list=PLLHeqkcn5RTfVsp-cwqHYYrDT163qd2hI

Has anyone ever seen an official document from Disney stating what the rules for being counted as a member of the Princess club are? I've seen a fair bit of fan speculation and that is all I know about.
For Anna and Elsa, I think the decision was made to keep Frozen as a standalone franchise, so that is why they've been excluded from membership. I don't know if Moana is going to be classified as standalone, but if she hasn't been added, it could be a possibility.
Random thought of the day, who will our next original Princess be? Obviously no-one can know for certain (unless they have a time machine or precognitive perception), but we can still speculate. Along that line of thinking, are Disney going to keep making original Princesses or might they source another one from some popular story as a starting point?

I don’t know if an official document like that actually exists, the rules outlined just go off of patterns noticed about the current lineup. The executives probably just make their decision based off of those patterns we notice, like box office success and the criteria for being an original character who is at the very least a female protagonist with Princess characteristics (if not already being an actual princess). Yup Frozen is its own franchise because of its box office success and the phenomenon it created, but I wonder if Disney is considering keeping Moana as its own franchise or adding her to the Princess lineup? Or neither? Who knows! I'm not a Disney executive but I can try to think like one 😂 Also, Amy Mebberson's art isn't really considered Disney canon, since she only started working for Disney a few years after she had being doing non-profit art on her own as a fan of Disney. She still does her Pocket Princess series unaffiliated with Disney (but she does make some Disney affiliated comic books, and material introduced in comics is generally considered not to be canon). Some of the characters, like Leia, to her are considered "honorary Princesses", which I think is a fair title to give them! I don't know if she watches the Disney Junior shows like Tangled the Series and Elena (I saw her in one of the cartoons, link here: amymebberson.tumblr.com/post/157070941009/pocket-princesses-192-se%C3%B1orita-de-rojo-please) I’d love the next original Disney Princess to be in a musical film, as Disney Princess songs are always so iconic and fun to sing! There are tons of directions they could take the new characters in, so many unexplored and underrepresented cultures to celebrate as well and a whole treasure trove of fairy tales and folk stories waiting to be adapted. Plus tons of original ideas for characters too, like Merida from Brave is an entirely original Princess not based on any prior story or adaptation. I remember reading this news story in 2012, 500 new fairy tales were discovered in Germany after having been recovered from an archive they had been locked away in for over 150 years! Heres the link to that: www.theguardian.com/books/2012/mar/05/five-hundred-fairytales-discovered-germanyWith everything being so readily available in this day and age, and tons of talented people on board full of stories and ideas, I don't think they'll be running out of new film pitches any time soon. And I do hope they continue collaborating with musical theatre composers and writers, as its proven to be a really great asset to their filmmaking!

I searched for Moana merchandise on the internet and so far, there's nothing to suggest this movie has been incorporated into the Disney Princess lineup. All the pictures I saw indicated that Moana is a seperate franchise, just like Frozen.
I think it's highly likely that any new Princess style movies will be musicals, I don't think I've ever seen one that hasn't been. I'd be more surprised if they released a movie and there was no songs!
Maybe if we want to narrow down the list of potential future Princesses, we should start listing the cultures that haven't been featured yet and that would be a starting point. Then with that in mind, start searching to see if those cultures have any stories and/or legends that might translate well to a Disney animated movie. Personally, I'd rather they started doing more obscure cultures, the ones that haven't gotten shown much, because at this point, there's probably been dozens of movies on the more common cultures. Random thought of the day, Inuit (Eskimo) Princess!
Original ideas, well, that'd be even harder to predict. Like say someone comes up with a short story, then someone at Disney reads it and commissions the author to make a full length feature film based on their concept.

The only indication I've seen of Moana's possible inclusion into the Disney Princess franchise is the whole "Princess Slumber Party" happening in Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet Link here www.facebook.com/entertainmentweekly/videos/1574681572609636/ to a video where all the Princess characters in the Wreck-It Ralph sequel are asked questions by children (includes Jodi Benson!), really cute video!

Auliʻi Cravalho, the only Disney Princess actress to play a prank. If she shows up holding a hairdryer, nobody will trust her to use it!!!!
I couldn't find a clip of that scene with the Disney Princesses in Wreck It Ralph 2. I am wondering how everyone knows what the scene is about if the video hasn't been made public.

It was at D23 when they showed this scene with all the Princesses (plus Anna, Elsa, and Moana) in a slumber party during Wreck It Ralph 2. No one was allowed to film the scene during D23, Disney didn’t want it leaking to the general public, but I saw a lot of live tweets from the event describing what went down and said this scene was going to be super awesome in the finished product. Especially awesome that all the original actresses who are still around to voice their characters were involved!!
