I was scrolling around YouTube when this performance of Poor Unfortunate Souls caught my eye. The actress playing Ursula is Francesca Camus and she's one of the best I've seen from a stage production - I think I prefer her Ursula over Sherie's tbh! I really like how animated she is and I like that the key of the song isn't too high and perky. Her Ursula really dominates the stage and harkens back to the sophistication that Pat originally brought to the role. I can definitely see how she took the original inspirations in stride while making it her own, really great work!
This took place at the Henderson Pavilion in Nevada in 2017. The production as a whole, judging based on this clip (since I couldn't really find much else), looks to be really really good as well! I also really love the way Flotsam and Jetsam were done, the puppetry with their heads is designed very true to the film!
Check her out for yourselves and let me know what you think!
