Another one I forgot: On the second night Ariel's there when Eric looks at the window and sees her combing her hair with the fork, and he gets this sweet little half-smile, which then turns into a frown as he realizes that he has to make a choice.
Sooo sweet.

I *heart* Pony!Eric.
And yeah, he has some great faces. I love his little eye-brow raise at the statue's unveiling, and there's thsi look of wonder on his face as he asks the sailor about King Triton.

Heh. Yeah, I can see thE Simba, Also lately my brain has been teeling me that little Eric was a lot like Mokuba Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh, except with shorter hair, slighty less trauma, and a different eye color: yuugiou.fran-web.net/Image/Mokuba/01/index.htmlIsn't he cute? And Mokuba with his big brother Seto at both age 6/10 and 11/16: yuugiou.fran-web.net/Image/Group/NA-04/index.htmlAlso I've decided that part of Max's mix is guardian spirit dog a la Mouse from The Dresden Files and thus he is going to live far longer than he should, like 'til Eric is eighty. *Lalala I can't hear you. Logic, what logic? Lalalalala.* Seriously I just can't deal with imagining Max's death. Which is odd, cause I'm okay killing off Ariel and Eric in alternate reality scenarios. Hmm.

See I always picture his Mom dying first, so there's that. Also I feel like at some point Eric would try to latch on to Sayers or someone like him as almost a substitute father only to be rebuffed a little. Not because they were trying to be mean but because they'd be aware that it would ultimately be a bad idea.

See I have to completely disagree with you, Zavi. I feel like his room, while not necessarily huge, should feel very open, and maybe have big windows. Also, in my head, while shipboard Eric likes to bunk in a hammock in the larger room with the regular sailors (which Grimsby strongly disapproves of) or even sneak up on deck and find a spot to curl up in there.
My idea is that Eric actually doesn't like confined spaces at all. He's not claustrophobic exactly, but he doesn't like to feel closed in.

Wait...which question was at the back of your mind?- "What does Eric's room looks like?" or "what if Eric was just a regular guy?"
My answer to the first-blue, with LOTS of pictures of ships and the sea. I can't picture the furniture as being too dark or too heavy either.

I've been looking for an Eric doll. And he comes with a ludicrously teeny Max!

If Eric found out Ariel was a princess, however, he wouldn't consider himself worth her time. Basically, he'd be like Aladdin without Genie and the lying. I'd agree there. Also IMO depending on what Eric's exact situation is I could see them having the "Splash" ending instead of Ariel become human. For example if Eric was just a normal sailor I think it would be problematic since he'd be gone a lot and Ariel wouldn't be able to go with him. Unless he was, say, on the verge of becoming the captain of his own ship. Then they'd have their own cabin and she could come with him on his travels. Oh, dang it, not another plotbunny. *headdesk* Edited To Add: crossover fanart For The Win! la-siren-of-eire.deviantart.com/art/Every-Man-For-Himself-117204097

Quote:Her face was close enough to kiss. -implodes- I'm glad you liked that. I'm a sucker for that kind of moment myself, which was why I put it in. As for using the word "circle", that's what it is. The chalk lines of the circle were smudged [by the falling rain] Daemon literally took a piece of chalk, drew a circle on the ground, then set what was more or less a mystical tripwire, and lured the Siren there. I didn't think it was necessary to go into that in great detail because the precise workings of the spell aren't really that important. Just that Daemon failed, the Siren retaliated, and something weird happened after. three longest points of the trident Yeah. That's bad word choice. "Three sharp points" or something would have been better. I'll try to remember to fix that when I do my last edit after the story's finished. Thanks again for putting so much thought into your response!

LOL. Yeah, I think by the end of the movie Ariel's mind was more than made up.

Time-wise in the fic the Daemon/Siren confrontation up to this point really only lasts a few minutes, and starts almost instantlly after Ariel heads over to Eric, so I don't think it's inconceivable that A/E have yet to come out of their happy reunion bubble. The flashbacks make it seem longer than it is, which is something I did on purpose.

Hmm...I think that Ariel and Eric would get along most of the time. I can see them having the occasional tiff, but IMO when they did fight it would get very heated.
I could see one early blowout maybe being over Ariel's tendency to pursue the things she wants and likes without necessarily considering how it affects the people around her VS Eric letting a lot of small things go because he's not good at confrontation and finally getting upset over something seemingly inconsequential that just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back.
I could see them both walking away angry and staying apart for a bit, but then they'd come back together having a heartfelt talk about the issues that caused the fight and make up.

IMO Movie!Eric had two big moments. The storm and stopping Ursula. And somehow BOTH were cut. *sigh*
*chants to self* Remember that the musical has "Her Voice", "One Step Closer, and "If Only". "Her Voice", "One Step Closer, and "If Only". "Her Voice", "One Step Closer, and "If Only"...
Okay. Annoyance partially subsided.
And Zavi, I look forward to your always insightful review.

He tries in the musical, it just doesn't work very well. LOL. But yeah, I agree that it was a team effort.
SPOILERS Honestly I'd be okay with Ariel saving the day if Musical!Eric took a couple hits from the trident or something. I mean him coming in the ship does distract Ursula before she sends the ship away, but it's still kind of silly. Just my opinion.

*Blushes* There's no way Disney could ever make a movie out of this story. Too dark, too confusing, and lets not even get into the whole ritualized magic aspect... But I appreciate the compliment.
It's probably good that you don't trust Daemon. Like I said, he's not exactly the poster child for sound mental and emotional health.

I'm actually really torn. I like that Musical!Eric has more development and new songs. (ESPECIALLY One Step Closer) but his two big hero moments are cut and he's a bit more prince-y than in the movie.
I think Movie!Eric probably edges out as my favorite cause he's the original but I flove Musical!Eric too.

Here's the Hulu link for Dollhouse. It has all the episodes except the very first one. www.hulu.com/search/dollhouse?sort_by=relevance&type=episodeAnd here's a link to the official music video for the opening theme. It has clips from all of the 6 episodes that have aired. www.activedollhouse.com/dollhouse-theme-song/Would it be okay if the crossover thread was only a place to test out scenes and shorter pieces-Longer ones would be probably be better off having a thread to themselves. Back to Eric: Movie or musical? Which one is your favorite?
