LOL. That reminds me of this: www.cracked.com/article_16795_7-most-terrifying-disney-movie-deaths.htmlBe warned. There is naughty language. But Ursula's entry is hilarious. Here's a sample. Near the end of the movie, Ursala blackmails king Triton into giving her the Magical Trident, the "One Ring" of The Little Mermaid. This allows her to transform into a giant, super Ursula that controls the weather. The Prince, deciding that he's had quite enough of this [censored], steers his ship through a whirling vortex of doom and freaking impales Ursula right through the gut.

I think part of the reason is that Eric is a more "subtle" character if that makes sense. He doesn't have the big personality that a lot of the other members of the cast do.
But on the plus side, I thgink anyone trying to write Eric is going to be aware of that on some level, so there's less outright horrible stories with him in them too.

I'd settle for a Cinderella 3 deal where at least the romance was front and center. I don't necessarily need the time travel stuff or the psuedo-other love interest-I'm merely talking in terms of focus and screentime.

I've already said how much i loved this chapter. The plot is thickening rapidly. Ariel and Eric have both left to find each other-though how they will is till very much a question. I also loved the character development everyone has gotten, including Triton and the sisters. My favorite part, hands down, was Grimsby's flashback to his first meeting with Eric. *Giggles* That was quite a first impression, and it certainly set the tone for their future relationship.

In the "action" sectuon of the story, i.e. everything but the last paragraph, Eric dies along with Ariel. You'll notice I mention that the water is coming back and Eric is effectively on what is about to become the ocean floor, and that he hurt himself pretty badly in the fall to begin with. So poor Eric joins his princess pretty soon after that.
The last paragraph, as I said in an earlier response can be read as Eric either waking from a nightmare, or joining Ariel in the afterlife.

I haven't heard anything. I'd love to get a look at that and also all the first versions of the original TLm script. As an aspiring screenwriter myself I'm always interested in how things evolve.

Maybe make an extended title- "Er-heads: A Prince Eric Community" or something like that?

IIRC during the audio commentary on the Platinum addition they breifly discuss Eric's character and the problem Disney's had with getting "princes" right. I think it's during the night-scene on the ship before the storm.

Hooray for more TTWDPF!
Zavi, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, re your writing. I'm really looking forward to reading your work! When do you think it will be up?
And yes, I've fallen behind on BSS again, but I'm going to try and have more up for you on Friday and finish the chapter by Sunday.
I've liked Eric pretty much ever since I can remember. I was like a year and a half when the movie came out, if that helps. I don't actually remember seeing it in theaters although I apparently did. I do remember watching the video and knowing I had seen it before and that I liked it. BTW I used to hide behind the couch during Poor Unfortunate Souls.
Ahh. Disney. Traumatizing kids since 1937.

I kind of agree to a point but IMO Eric's personality is a wee bit more Spider-Man (and the fact that C.D. Barnes voices him in the 90's cartoon does help my theory).
Also I wans't kidding about teh decent fic. I need some STAT.

I'd heard about the ride. Sadly, I may plan a trip to Cail just to see it once it's done, for I am that much of a mermaid geek. I thought the virtual one was really cute. A page or two back someone asked about fics we don't like-THIS: www.fanfiction.net/s/4899531/1/underwater_love (I should warn you that it is rated M, however from what I could make out of the first chapter through my growing mental hysteria, there was nothing innaproprate there. Choose to go further however, and you are on your own, and may God have mercy on your soul.) If any of ya'll ever post something like that on the fanfic forum I am sorry but I will delete it immediately because the very fact of its existence makes me die a little inside. Everybody remember the Joker "making a pencil disappear" in The Dark Knight? I was sorely tempted to try that little maneuver on myself just to make sure that all memory of its awfulness was removed from my poor poor retinas. Somebody please pass the brain bleach and upload some decent TLM fic because I just...*curls up into a fetal position and whimpers*. WHY WON'T THE LAMBS STOP SCREAMING???

When You Say Nothing At All-Adorable.
No Air-Purple Mermaid's vids are always well-done but I didn't really like the song.
Never Wanted To Dance-Same as above.
Chemicals React-Loved it.
One Thing-Love the song-was not a fan of the video. The editing and clip choices left much to be desired. There were soooo many parts where the music was changing and it stayed on the same scene, and there were clips that didn't fit the lyrics... It probably didn't help that I've seen an awesome father/son Fanvid about Angel and Connor using this song.
Here's a couple vids I really like:

Speaking of Ariel and Eric at parks take a look at this:
Skip to about 7:27 and stand by for adorableness and Eric looking even more like Simon from Firefly than usual.
