I believe he and Ariel are still in the daytme Magic Kingdom parade, but I don't recall seeing him at any of the character meet and greets. Tto be honest it's been awhiel since I've really sought out characters for autographs, so I could be wrong.

Sorry I didn't relyp earlier.
Umm...to be honest I'd rather not have my stuff on ff.net at the moment. I do plan to go through my old oneshots and give them to Annie to put on DtD along with Bittersweet Symphony. I may change my mind eventually.
I'm glad you liked the "first and last kiss" line. I thought it was a nice way to emphasize how little time they had together, before the end.

Zavi, i believe we may have been seperated at birth.
I agree. I hate art that's exploitive. I don't necessarily have a problem with nudity or sex, or the implication of either, but there's stuff I've seen on deviantart taht just made me *cringe*.
I'm generally not a fan of first person either, except for in children's literature, My one big exception to that rule is The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. There are wizards and witches, vampires, werewolves, knights, faries, fallen angels, police, and gangsters in modern-day Chicago and it all makes perfect sense.
Oddly enough, while I could only get therough the first couple of chapters of Twilight before my urge to smack Bella across her whiny little face overpowered me to the point where I had to stop reading, I actually really enjoyed the movie.
How Eric feels about Ariel: 1) IMO Eric has a low sense of self-worth. So when a beautful girl saved his life and then sang about how much she wanted to be with him, he was more than a little smitten. Somwehere there was a girl who thought that he was worth saving, and worth being with. I think that meant a lot.
2) When he actually met Ariel post-transformation, I think he was really charmed by her uniqueness and her eager fearlessness, and the fact that she seemed to "get" him in a way that nobody else had and didn't pressure him to be anyone but himself-the best of himself, but himself.
How Ariel feels about Eric-Well she had one heck of a first impression. He was cute and sweet, a little bit of a dreamer, and really brave. And post-transformation I think the fact that he was willing to help her when he had no idea who she was was a serious point in his favor, as well as the fact that he didn't mind when she acted a little different. I think later on she also realized that just like her, he was someone who felt a litle out of place.

Well...to be honest I didn't like the one with Giselle as Eric's mother or that some author's other fic at all. They just seemed so random...like these events and conversations were happening just to get to certain situation but without any reasons for them to take placed. They felt really sloppy and rushed, without any internal logic to hold them together.
I can usually deal with a story that's rough around the edges if the concept makes sense and the characterization seems accurate but thsoe two stories, for whatever reason, just did not work for me at all. I literally couldn't sit and read them all the way through.
I know you liked them, Frida, but I really really hope you don't take her style as a model.

I'm right there with you. LOL. Oh I found fic: This is just a short cute Post-Kingdom Hearts 2 fic about Eric teaching Ariel how to fight, or trying to anyway. www.fanfiction.net/s/4360858/1/Positive_ThinkingAnd a comedy fic about Eric waking up as a merman unexpectedly because of a miscommunication. I will warn that this fic is somewhat PG-13 what with Eric being concerned over a certain missing appendage (that is not referred to by name, but...yeah). www.fanfiction.net/s/4468876/1/Under_the_Sea

Here is my fanwank for Sebastian's line: He figured once Ariel was permantly human they'd figure out some way to get her voice back from Ursula. But if Eric kissed her there was no chance of that happening.
BTW the original trailer makes the same mistake.
One other interesting about the trailer is that the way it's structured almost makes it seem like when Triton's yelling at Ariel it's after she makes the deal with Ursula.
*pats Zavi on the back*
I think you've actually touched on some of the things that do make Eric relatable. IMHO a lot of us can relate to feeling pressured into going down a path we may not want to or being pushed into responsibility we don't feel up to handling. I think a lot of people may have someone in their life where they feel like "Why should this amazing person even care about me at all? "
I feel like if Ariel is the archetypical teenager, Eric's the archetypical college grad or almost college grad: "This is the real world now -so where do I fit in?"

I'm glad you liked it. I was definitely going for a tone of despair. And as I said feel free to interpret the ending as either the whole thing being Eric's nightmare, or Eric waking to Ariel in the afterlife of your choice (as long as it's one of the good ones).

I looooved the Into The Ocean Video. I am so upset that it was taken down. Fic-wise I have to reccomend Aquisha's stories in the fanfic forum. If you have yet to read them, you need to go do that right now. Artwise...There's that new one titled Fathoms Below by LathronAniron that I am not going to link to for reasons that are obvious if you've seen the picture. I have soooo many fanart pics it's hard to choose. However, Annie has scans from official tie-in books on her site and I do love this one: cbl.orcein.net/thelittlemermaid/gallery06/secret1-07.jpgfrom Ariel's Secret. Ariel and Eric meeting when they're little! It's just adorable. And from the same book when they're grown uo: cbl.orcein.net/thelittlemermaid/gallery06/secret1-12.jpg I love Eric's wet hair!

Okay: This is sort of an alternate ending for the first movie, complete with angst and character death. I will add that this is not the Anderson ending by any means. There is a semi-happy mini-epilogue attached that can have whatever meaning you would like. So-On with the angst!:
He was too late.
There was a horrible flash of light and the sound of demonic laughter. Then came a terrible silence. Blood pounding in his ears, he jerked the wheel as hard as he could, sending the ship’s prow into that dark, dark heart. The witch’s screams echoed in his soul as he jumped.
If things had been different he would have dived away from the maelstrom, would have used his last ounce of strength to make it to shore to wait for her. As it was, he let himself plummet to the bottom of the whirlpool, to meet her where she lay instead.
The ocean had begun to revert to its usual ebb and flow, and the rushing water cushioned his fall just enough to keep him alive. Even though, he was bruised and broken when he finally landed in the shrinking circle of bare sand. Knowing there wasn’t much time, he reached for her.
Almost idly, he noted that he had never seen her so still. Not ever. She had been all of sunshine and fireflies and the sound of sweet music. Everything that was good and warm and alive. Hands shaking, he brushed her hair back from her beautiful unseeing eyes, then leaned in for their first and last kiss…
When the ocean finally came to claim them both, he was already gone.
When he wakes shaking and shivering to her concerned gaze, he is lost for a moment. Her hand brushes his cheek and he is found…It is not the last of the nightmares, and not all of them will be his, but for now he just holds her close and waits for the light.

I figure Ariel getting pregnant at eighteen or nineteen and being 20 or close to it at the birth. Which would make Eric 22ish and gives them 2-3 years of wedded bliss pre-kid.

*Nods* Yeah the tail does look a little...off.
I really wish they'd come out with a Broadway Eric doll. Or heck, just a new Eric doll period.

*Snicker*
I have a plotbunny about Eric summoning HCA to the Kingdom/castle 'cause he's upset about the story.
And I actually wrote a piece where Ursula killed Ariel before Eric impaled her so Eric dove after Ariel's body and let himslef drown when the water rushed back in...but I fel bad so I added in an ending that made it just a bad dream.
And I have another random plotbunny where a post-Kiss The Girl pre-Vanessa Eric wakes up and finds himself in his future body post-TLM 2. It would pretty much be:
"Ariel, you can talk!...and you're in my bedroom."
"We have a child?"
"Did that crab just talk?"
etc.
I have too many thoughts.

The main issue with the HCA story is that the prince is completely unaware of the mermaid's existence prior to meeting her as a human, and he in fact falls for the girl that finds him on the beach. When he does meet the mermaid again he cares about her but not THAT way. In fact, I think the exact quote is that he "loved her as he would a little child, but it never entered his head to marry her." Going to BTVS yet again it's sort like how Willow has a crush on BF Xander in seasons 1 and 2: Xander: (hops off of the counter) So, I guess we're dance-bound. Cool. I think I can get my mom's car, so I'm wheel man.
Buffy: I thought you were taking Willow.
Xander: Well, yeah, I'm gonna take Willow, but I'm not gonna *take* Willow. In the sense of 'take me'. See, with you we're three and everybody's safe. Without you, we're two.
Buffy: Ah, and we enter dateville. Romance, flowers...
Xander: Lips.
Willow comes into the library, but Xander's back is to the door so he doesn't see her. Buffy pretends not to notice her.
Buffy: Oh, come on. In all the years you've know Willow, you've never thought about her lips?
Xander: Buffy, I love Willow.
Willow smiles widely.
Xander: And she's my best friend. Which makes her not the kind of girl who I think about her lips that much.
Willow's smile fades to disappointment.
Xander: She's the kind of girl that... I'm best friends with.
Willow: Hey guys.
Xander: Willow! (goes to her) Hi! We were just talkin' about happy things.
He puts his arm around her and pulls her over to Buffy at the table. It's not like in the movie where there's a clear mutual attraction both when she saves him and after she gets her legs. And to be honest I can't really blame the Original Recipe Prince. He has no knowledge of the mermaid's deal with the sea witch, and just because she's in love with him, that does not obligate him to have to feel the same way. He does kind of cluelessly lead her on but that's more an issue of ignorance on both sides on both sides of the equation than any kind of malice. The circumstances of the original fairytale and the movie are so different I have a hard time transposing characters between the two.

Sorry I've been somewhat AWOL but once again real life has stolen my time.
A DA club for Eric might be helpful.
I actually have a scarily precise search system to hunt for cute pics. For each search I go to sort by newest, in this order:
Ariel Eric Prince Eric Disney Eric Mermaid Eric Mermaid Prince Ariel Prince Little Mermaid
I also periodically check youtube for mermaid related clips. Which is a good thing since that's how I found certain...'things' related to the Broadway show.

I think sailing and how to swim (human style) are givens. Human music as well. Maybe reading her poetry and telling her some of his favorite myths and legends and other stories. How to a ride a land-horse. Ummm...that's all I can think of right now.

*snicker* Yes, that would be awesome.
Also for some reason, in my head, after Eric meets King Triton there's more than a little hero-worship on Eric's part. Which makes King Triton feel even more guilty about the whole "heartless barbarians" confrontation he had with Ariel in the grotto. And when Eric hears of the above he's mostly just happy that his statue got blowed up. So it's all good.
