This is based on an idea wickedelfie mentioned in another thread, it's branched off from the point in the movie where Ariel is singing to Eric on the beach. It's omnly a oneshot so i hope its ok if i used the idea. I know its short and stuff, but i wrote another but accidently deleted it *hits self over head with mallet* but its pointless saying that now..Please comment and enjoy anyway.
What would I give to live where you are...What would I pay to stay here beside you? What would I do to see you smiling at me...
Ariel lay beside him, the beautiful human, singing her song. She continued to stroke his cheek, floating in contentment beside him. She stared longingly into his eyes, smiling down at him. She paused. His eyes? She looked down to see the prince had woken and was staring right at her, confused. Ariel was so astonished she flung herself backwards and into a rock, injuring her back. She pushed back the pain and stared at the boy, who was now on his feet.
"Don't be scared, I won't hurt you." He said gently, grinning at her. "You saved me."
Ariel didn't respond, she simply stared at him, lost for words. "Please say something, you have the most beautiful voice." Ariel blushed and avoided his gaze, hitching herself up onto the rock, her tail now totally in view.
"You're a...a mermaid" Eric said in disbelief. "May I-" He approached the redhead slowly, arm outstretched, wanting to touch. Ariel recoiled slightly, but knowing she could trust him, let him lightly touch her fins.
"Wow." He uttered, stepping back. "I never believed that.." He stumbled over his words. The girl was a beauty, lengthy red locks and eyes you could get lost in forever. Ariel eyed him, wondering how to react.
She suddenly felt a sharp tugging on her hair and she twisted around to see Sebastian glaring at her. "Ariel! What are you doing child? He is a human! If your father-" The worrying crab didn't finish as Ariel pressed her hand over his mouth and shunted him aside and into the water surrounding her.
"Could you at least tell me your name?" Ariel was no longer listening, she had noticed the sun had already risen on the horizon just behind Eric. She knew her father would kill her if he knew she had been out all night. She quickly dived into the water and resurfaced afterwards.
"Where are you going?" Eric yelled in despair, running into the shallow area of the lapping waves.
"I'm sorry" Ariel finally spoke. "I've gotta go!"
She turned to swim away, only to hear the prince shout, "Please tell me your name!"
"Ariel!" She responded, flipping her fins and diving into the blue.
"Ariel." Eric repeated, walking backwards, hoping to catch another glimpse of the redheaded beauty. Unfortunately, instead of spying a mermaid he crashed into something. No, someone. He swiveled around to see a rather wet Grimsby and Max standing behind him.
"Oh Eric..." Grim began, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. "You really delight in these sadistic strains on my blood pressure, don't you?"
He smiled kindly, but Eric interrupted. "A mermaid...rescued me. She had the most beautiful voice. Said her name was Ariel." He looked out onto the ocean hopefully.
"Eric, I think you swallowed a bit to much seawater. Off we go then. Come on Max-"
"You go ahead. I'll be right with you." Eric reassured Grim, signaling for him to leave. The elderly man shrugged and walked away, followed by the shaggy sheepdog.
Eric approached the shoreline, listening to the waves crashing upon the rocks, and a beautiful voice dancing with the wind.
I don't know when, I don't know how...but I know something's starting right now...Watch and you'll see, someday I'll be, part of your world...
Something definitely was starting.
I may write more, i think it depends what anyone thinks. I know much didn't happen there but i just wanted to establish something has changed here, and it will impact the plot alot. I have loads more ideas for other installments, please comment if anyone thinks i should make it a short story?
