MY EXPERIENEC With Alan Menken On the last day of the showing of the Broadway show he along with Sherri Rene Scott was in audience . DUE to this a "crowd" (understatement") gathered for autographs so had to wait to get one myself and just as intermission ended I get to him only to find him NOT to thrilled to give out another autograph(VAST UNDERSTATEMENT)
I told him will make this simple for him Just put your name on the Playbill and that's all. You see as I was waiting to get MY autograph people were telling requesting WHAT to put with the signature such as My dear Friend OR to the great and so on
Jodi Benson in 1997 was ALOT friendlier and the line was just as long (My film Premire Ariel Doll ias autographed by her Plus a book and a still photo she sent me during some "hard times" for both of us years earlier the critics were not pleasant to her in Crazy for You
The theater was well PACKED and SADLY ruined by two women commenting on the show ala Mystery Science Theater WANT PROOF I have an audio copy of it .Different Actress playing Ariel Faith Prince as Ursula I've done my share of "questionable" actions including bootlegging
Got MANY a story bout that vermillion haired mermaid everyone and does anyone want a copy of the Broadway show?

I say let Lindsay do it if she promises to take full responsibility in doing her acting job! Let CGI fix her face since she's a fully mythological creature and a lot of effects are to be involved! The script can omit the "16 year old" line like in Broadway with just "I'm not a child!". I'm still however wishing Sierra Boggess could be called by Menken himself to reprise the role onscreen and have her Ariel performance preserved as Samantha Barks did for Les Miserables! From Comicbook.com: Lindsay Lohan Still Wants to Play 'The Little Mermaid' For Disney
Lindsay Lohan hasn't given up on the dream of being part of The Little Mermaid.
With Disney in the midst of bringing its classic animated films such as Aladdin, Mulan, Dumbo, and The Lion King to life with live-action adaptations following the success of 2017's Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid is on the slate to get the same treatment. While Ariel's next chance to be part of our world is still in development, Mean Girls star Lohan made it clear in an Instagram post in February 2017 that she wants the role of the flame-haired young mermaid -- and nearly two years later, she's still of the same mind.
In a new interview with Variety, Lohan affirmed that she's a huge fan of the film -- and plans to "harass" her agent about it.
"The Little Mermaid is my favorite movie since I was a kid," Lohan said. "Whenever I put that move on, it makes me happy. I'm like, 'Everybody, stop. Watch this movie.'"
Lohan was then asked if Disney had reached out to her about the film at all and Lohan said they hadn’t but seemed to have a plan to change that.
"No, but I'm going to harass my agent about it after this," she said.
It may take more than her agent, however. Lohan isn't the only star who has expressed interest in The Little Mermaid. Audra McDonald, who played Madam de Garderobe in Beauty and the Beast, has said that she would love to be involved in The Little Mermaid while there were reports last fall that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Zendaya was being considered as Ariel. There's also Hollywood's perception of Lohan that could stand in the way. Lohan notably had quite a few issues in the past -- what the Variety interview described as "one of the biggest crashes in Hollywood history" -- but Lohan, who is the star of MTV's Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club reality series, hopes people can move on from that.
"I think there's a misconception that people still have about me, and I think it's unfortunate," Lohan said. "Hopefully, this will change people's perception once and for all."
The Little Mermaid live action adaptation is in development. Other upcoming Disney live-action adaptations include Dumbo which opens in theaters March 29, 2019, Aladdin on May 24, 2019, and The Lion King on July 19, 2019.
What do you think about Lindsay Lohan as Ariel?

I think Ariel will be cast as someone relatively younger, for sure younger than 30. I'm not sure if anyone over 30 has a chance at being Ariel in the live-action adaptation, though many girls over 30 have played Ariel onstage or at the Disney Parks. I'm thinking they could actually go as young as 16, but realistically probably early/mid 20's. (age will factor into how Eric is cast as well) Ariel will probably be someone with a lot of musical theatre credits under their belt, maybe already established in film and/or television, possibly a model. I would prefer she have an incredibly stunning voice above all else tbh, so we'll see what Disney thinks of that in casting. It'll most likely be someone who already is connected to Disney in some way. I don't think they will cast a white girl, there are many signs pointing to them being willing to expand their repertoire and put a twist on the story, which I predict will make many people angry as it has already (I don't mind at all! I say bring it on!). But I obviously wouldn't be surprised if Ariel is cast as a white girl, as she was drawn that way initially. I can't pinpoint a name, and maybe it won't be a big name, but there are so many girls who fit this bill.

From Stylecaster: Everything to Know About ‘The Little Mermaid’ Live-Action Remake
It’s no secret that there are a lot of live-action Disney remakes in the works, and with the release of The Lion King and Dumbo this year, fans have been wondering what the next live-action remake has in store—and if it will include one very famous red-headed mermaid. Since it was announced in 2016 that a The Little Mermaid live-action remake was in the works, fans have been ravenous for information on the cast, the crew and the changes from the beloved 1989 animated film. As a refresher, the film follows a mermaid named Ariel who sacrifices her voice for legs to woo over a prince she saw on land. Some magic and plot twists happen, and in the end, yes, they fall in love.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of The Little Mermaid (feel old yet?), which includes a special collector’s edition available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD, so a new generation of fans can watch it without the grainy, VHS-tape-quality that us ’90s kids have come to know and love. (Fans can live out their Little Mermaid dreams via classes from Sheroes Entertainment, a professional mermaid school.) And so, with three decades of The Little Mermaid behind us, we thought it was a better time than ever to look back on all the information (rumored and confirmed) about the live-action remake. It has to be coming out soon right? Well, we’ll get to that.
When Does It Come Out? In May 2016, Deadline Hollywood was the first to report that a live-action remake of The Little Mermaid was in the works. The site reported that Disney executives heard a revitalized take on the 1989 film and considering it for a live-action remake. The news came a week after the release of the live-action Beauty and the Beast trailer, which was viewed almost 100 million times in 24 hours. The news also came after the success of Disney’s live-action remake of The Jungle Book, which is considered to the studio’s first live-action success. Changes to The Little Mermaid, as Deadline Hollywood reports, are understandable though, given that the film has received criticism in recent years for its “sexist” storyline. Many have criticized the song “Kiss the Girl” as nonconsensual, as well as the plot-line where Ariel sacrifices her voice for a man.
"The Little Mermaid" Walt Disney Pictures.
Who’s in the Cast? The most talked-about name rumored to be attached to the remake is Zendaya. In August 2018, ComicBook.com reported that the former Disney Channel actress, who starred on the network from 2010 to 2018, was in talks to play the lead of Ariel. When asked about the rumors by Variety a month later, Zendaya responded that she would love to do the film, though nothing is confirmed. “I mean, yeah, why wouldn’t I?” she said. She echoed the same sentiment to People. “I loved The Little Mermaid,” she said. “It is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. I was obsessed with it when I was a little kid. It’s just a rumor so we will see.”
Another name thrown about for the film is Lady Gaga, who was rumored in October 2018 to be playing Ursula, a seawitch and the film’s villain. The news, first reported by Disinsider, came a few days after Gaga starred in her first film role in A Star Is Born, for which she earned an Oscar nomination. However, the rumor was met with criticism from many fans because of Gaga’s size, with many believing that the role should be played by a curvy woman, like Lizzo (who actually tweeted an audition tape), and not someone as thin as Gaga. “By having an actual fat actress in the role of Ursula, chubby girls won’t just get to see a classic movie for the first time—they might actually get to see themselves,” InStyle wrote.
As for who is rumored to play Prince Eric, Ariel’s love interest, Marie Claire UK reported in May 2017 that the studio was eyeing Henry Cavil, whose black hair and thick brows look very similar to the Disney prince. Lindsay Lohan has also expressed interest in playing Ariel, with Meryl Streep as Ursula.

Who’s Directing It? As for the director, Variety reported in December 2017 that Disney had offered the role to Rob Marshall, who has had a long history with the studio. Marshall has four Disney films, including Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Into the Woods and last year’s Mary Poppins sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, starring Emily Blunt. In August 2016, Variety reported that the film will be produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Marc Platt. Miranda will also work with Alan Menken—the 1989 film’s original songwriter who wrote tunes like “Under the Sea” and “Part of Your World”—on several new songs for the remake.
“I literally don’t have a title for what my job on The Little Mermaid is yet. Right now, it’s the guy who wears the ‘don’t mess it up’ hat. If I could sign a contract with that job title on it, that would be great!” Miranda told Vulture in 2016.
What Are the Changes? Aside from new songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (the mind behind musicals like Hamilton and In the Heights), not much has been reported about Disney’s plans to revitalize the film. In Deadline Hollywood’s 2016 article, breaking the news of the reboot, the site did report that the “take” would be different, which many assume to be changes to parts of the story that have been criticized for being sexist. Still, with Zendaya, a half-Black actress, as the rumored Ariel, the remake is already on its way to being a major milestone for racial representation. “Rumor has it that Zendaya was offered the role of Ariel—an excellent choice that will certainly resonate with young, black girls who’ve historically been overlooked in Disney’s leading roles,” InStyle wrote.
Also, at least we know that the original voice of Ariel, Jodi Benson, approves of the remake. “I think it can be delivered in a way that’s going to be quite special. I don’t know exactly how they’ll pull it all off, but I’m sure it’ll be amazing,” Benson told ComicBook.com in February 2019, highlighting the film’s 30th anniversary.

From TheOlivePress: IN PICS: MALAGA AND MALLORCA LOCATIONS BATTLE TO BE CHOSEN BY DISNEY FOR FILMING OF THE LITTLE MERMAID LIVE-ACTION REMAKE Disney asked the Axarquia Film Office to pitch its best coves, castles and caves
DISNEY Studios is fishing for filming locations for the highly-anticipated live action remake of The Little Mermaid.
The production company is officially in talks with Axarquia and Mallorca, with film bosses in both locations sending their best proposals.
Disney asked the Axarquia Film Office to pitch its best coves, castles and caves.
The cinematic body has included in its pitch La Cueva de Nerja (Nerja Cave), Cueva del Tesoro (Tesoro Cave), the Velez-Malaga Fortress, Bezmiliana fortress and the Marques de Valle Niza.
Other locations offered up include Maro, La Cala, Torre del Mar, Almayate, Chilches, Benajarafe and Torrox. Tourism spokesperson Juan Peñas said: “The importance of Disney, one of the most powerful studios in the film industry, showing interest in the region of the Axarquía and running as a possible candidate to host the recording of some scenes of this production is fantastic.”
The vice president of the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Axarquia added that ‘this opportunity has happened thanks to the Axarquia Film Office being part of the Network of Cities of Andalusia Film Commission’, which works tirelessly to attract international and national filming projects to the region.
Meanwhile, Disney has also shown interest in using Mallorca to film scenes of the new live-action version, rumoured to hits screens in 2021.
A request was received by the Mallorca Film Commission from the American cinema giant, asking to use the caves and rocks of the Balearic coast.
Oscar-nominated American director Rob Marshall, who worked on Mary Poppins Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean, is thought to be the film’s chosen director.
Meanwhile, fellow Disney favourite Zendaya, has been strongly linked to play the lead role of Ariel, as has Bella Thorne.
The script for ‘The Little Mermaid’ will be by Jane Goldman and the soundtrack will be written by Alan Menken.
Filming could begin as soon as next year.

From Cbr.com: The Little Mermaid Director Says Reboot May Add New Songs
Not only is the 1989 animated Disney classic The Little Mermaid getting a live action remake, the film may also add new editions to the film's already iconic roster of songs.
The film's director, Rob Marshall, recently said that any additional music will be motivated by the story and characters.
“It has to be a song that’s earned, that takes you there," Marshall told ComicBook. "And so as we’re working on, in a way, fleshing out The Little Mermaid — Ariel has one song in the animated film — and so we’re looking for maybe more material.”
There is no current release date and no confirmed stars attached to the film, but Zendaya has been rumored as a potential candidate for the lead role of Ariel. Oscar winner Lada Gaga was also rumored to be playing the Sea Witch Ursula. Lin-Manuel Miranda, after having worked with Rob Marshall on Mary Poppins Returns, will be collaborating with veteran Disney composer Alan Menkin to write new music for the movie. Besides providing the score for The Little Mermaid, Menkin served as composer for the 2019 reboot of Aladdin and wrote new music to be sung by Princess Jasmine, played by Naomi Scott.
Menkin has won a total of eight Academy Awards over the past several decades. His first two Oscars were for Best Original Song and Best Original Music Score for the 1990 film The Little Mermaid. Although it's far too early and presumptuous to predict any Oscar nominations for The Little Mermaid reboot, it would be interesting to see if the Academy would be willing to consider him in the same category for his work on a different version of the same film. Menkin also won Oscars for 1996's Pocahontas and the 1992 animated classic Beauty and the Beast.
The remake of The Little Mermaid is one of the many CGI/live action hybrid reboots that Disney plans on releasing in the foreseeable future. In 2019, Disney will premiere live-action versions of Aladdin, Dumbo and The Lion King. Disney also plans on a live-action adaptation of Mulan launching in 2020, directed by Niki Caro and starring Liu Yifei as Fa Mulan. Also expect to see more adaptations premiering on the Disney+ streaming service.
This will be the fourth cinematic collaboration between Marshall and Disney. Not only has Marshall directed the 2011 sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, he also directed the 2014 film Into the Woods as well as 2018's Mary Poppins Returns.

From Comicbook.com: Disney Live Action 'Little Mermaid' Director Reacts to Lindsay Lohan Casting Rumors
The Little Mermaid is another in a long line of Disney classics that will soon be getting the live action treatment. The upcoming movie’s director, Rob Marshall (Chicago, Mary Poppins Returns), recently sat down with ET to discuss the upcoming movie and its potential casting.
“I’m sure you’re thinking about casting. Lindsay Lohan has kind of been petitioning to be a part of it. Is that a possibility?,” ET asked.
Marshall definitely avoided giving a direct answer, but assured ET that the process will start fairly soon.
“Gosh, I don’t know who’s gonna play these roles yet,” he replied. “We haven’t really got that far. I think we’ll start that process probably sometimes this summer. You know, right now we’re just focusing on the characters, the material, which is everything. You know, that’s the most important thing,” he said.
“I’m starting have some ideas,” he added. “But it’s, you know, haven’t gotten there yet.”
For a while now, Lindsay Lohan has been petitioning for the role. Last year, she posted on Instagram that it would be her dream to play Ariel alongside Meryl Streep’s Ursula. The post has since been deleted, but many fans shared it on Twitter before it was taken down.
In a recent interview with Variety, Lohan made it clear that she loves the animated film, and plans to "harass" her agent about getting the part.
"The Little Mermaid is my favorite movie since I was a kid," she explained. "Whenever I put that move on, it makes me happy. I'm like, 'Everybody, stop. Watch this movie.'"
It’s been quite some time since the Mean Girls star was the front and center of a big film, but she was recently seen in the series Sick Note alongside Harry Potter’s Rupert Grint. The actress is currently starring in her own reality series, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club.
While many fans are hoping for a surge in Lohan’s career, some worry she’s a tad too old to play the iconic Disney character. Ariel is supposed to be 16 whereas Lohan is 32.
Other rumors about the film’s casting have revolved around Spider-Man: Far From Home star, Zendaya.
Who would you like to see play Ariel? Tell us in the comments!

From TorontoSun.com: 'The Little Mermaid' director, animator on the birth of an animated classic
It’s hard to imagine a world in which Disney’s animation arm needed saving. But nearly 30 years ago, it was The Little Mermaid that swam onto the big screen and relaunched a wave of animated films that revolutionized the industry.
“There was a kind of rebirth that happened that started with that movie. That period — Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King — was something we always hoped would happen,” Mermaid co-director Ron Clements says in a phone interview.
In addition to being a box office and critical success, The Little Mermaid earned multiple Oscars (for best song and best score) and spawned a Broadway show.
And like other classic Disney animated films, the story of Ariel — an underwater princess who meets and falls in love with her human prince charming — is slated to make its way to the big screen for a live-action revamp.
A special 30th anniversary edition of The Little Mermaid is now available both digitally and on Blu-ray. It includes a sing-along cut of the film, behind-the-scenes features and a look at a deleted character.
Calling from Los Angeles, supervising animator Mark Henn joined Clements to reflect on Mermaid’s enduring legacy and weigh in on Disney’s upcoming re-imagining.
The Little Mermaid has become one of those revered titles in the Disney canon. Did you know that this could become a classic?
Ron Clements: I knew it was going to get compared to previous Disney films, but I didn’t really think about it in those terms. We just wanted to do something that would match up and could be on the shelf with those earlier films. But I did not envision an afterlife like the film has had.
Mark Henn: We got a sense that what we were working on was kind of special. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but there was a joy surrounding the production. People seemed to be pretty happy. But projecting down the line 30 years, we had no idea how impactful that film was going to be.
I watched the extras on the Blu-ray and one of the interesting things to me was the featurette that delves into Walt Disney’s early plans for Little Mermaid. Did you know that Little Mermaid had this long history with the Disney company?
Clements: I pitched the idea of doing the movie around 1984. It wasn’t until that we were a year into making it that one of the storyboard artists let us know that it was planned. There was an idea they were considering that would have seen it be done as a Fantasia-type movie with musical sequences.
You both have worked on many, many Disney movies. Ron you most recently worked on Moana with your Mermaid co-director John Musker. But people may not know that this was the title that restarted a Disney renaissance when it came to animated movies. Was there a lot of pressure going into this?
Clements: People may not know now, but at that time, Disney was going through a very rough period. There were even some questions as to whether Disney animation would keep going. I think that weight carried itself over Mermaid as well. In retrospect I think the stakes were pretty high.
Henn: Coming out of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the studio was transitioning itself. There was an older generation and newer storytellers and artists that were emerging. Along with The Great Mouse Detective and Oliver & Company, we were on the right path. But Mermaid became our home run. The musical structure set the tone for the next four or five films. It became cool to go see a Disney animated movie again.
Clements: People tended to stereotype Disney films as being for little kids. We always thought Disney films would resonate with audiences of all ages and Mermaid broke through that stigma. It became a date movie. It was a movie more for everyone and that’s what we wanted it to be.
Disney has given some of its animated films an extended life through live action remakes. In addition to Dumbo and Lion King this year, there’s talk of a live action Little Mermaid down the line. What do you think about that?
Clements: We’re not involved in those. Lin Manuel-Miranda, who I worked with on Moana, is a key player with the Mermaid remake. He’s hugely influenced by the original film so I think he’s a good person to be involved with that. I think of these movies as grandchildren. You’re less involved in bringing them up, but it will be interesting to see how it gets reinvented.
The Little Mermaid 30th anniversary edition is available now on Blu-ray and digital.

From TheDisinsider: Live-Action ‘The Little Mermaid’ Adds ‘Fantastic Beasts’ VFX Supervisor
It looks like Disney is gearing up its production team for their live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, as the studio has found a VFX supervisor.
According to my colleague over at HN Entertainment, Tim Burk has joined Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid that has Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall attached. Burke’s notable credits include Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and The Legend of Tarzan.
My colleague also learned that rep is currently taking place in London, where stage production may take place. A couple of weeks ago director Rob Marshall shared an update on the film while doing press for Mary Poppins Returns, Which ultimately confirmed his director status on the film.
Well, I will say, I was just thinking about this the other day, that every movie I’ve done has been an enormous challenge. I’ve never sort of done the easy film, the two people in a room talking film. This next one, “The Little Mermaid,” is massively challenging because of how to create a world underwater. Half of the movie is underwater and to create a world that actually comes to life in a way that’s actor-friendly when you’re shooting it. And bringing that world to life. I mean, I do love creating worlds. That’s something I’ve always loved to do, no matter what world I’m diving into. So that’s thrilling. But this one is incredibly challenging. I think all the films I’ve done help me with the next film. You know what I mean? And I already worked with mermaids on my “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
There is speculation that the role of Ariel in the remake was offered to Zendaya, we here have The DisInsider attempted reaching out to her reps but we, unfortunately, heard nothing back. When asked about the rumor during the Smallfoot press tour the actress simply stated: “we will see.” Another rumor we heard but was never confirmed was that music superstar Lady Gaga is high on Disney’s wish list for a role in the film. Most likely the role of Ursula. While we were not able to confirm, we decided to share it as a rumor and nothing more.
Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda will team up to compose the music for the film, as well as add new songs to the film.
As of right now, there is no release date for the film. We expect to hear more news on this project at Disney’s bi-annual D23 Expo this August.

From HNEntertainment: EXCLUSIVE: ‘Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts’ VFX Supervisor Tim Burke Confirmed For Disney’s Live-Action ‘Little Mermaid’ Movie
Disney looks to be doubling-down on their animation to live-action projects with The Little Mermaid going to be one of their next projects. Given how many visual effects shots would be expected on a film like this they’ll need a very experienced person overseeing them.
HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that visual effects supervisor Tim Burk has joined Disney’s live-action Little Mermaid movie that has Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall attached. Burke’s credits include Gladiator, Hannibal, A Knight’s Tale, Black Hawk Down, Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and The Legend of Tarzan.
We can also confirm prep is currently taking place in London, where stage production may take place.
In December 2017, I revealed at OmegaUnderground they were lining up a fantastic production team that included the following talented people
Oscar-winning Aussie cinematographer Dion Beebe (Collateral, 13 Hours, Edge of Tomorrow) who has consistently worked with Rob over the years on Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha, Into The Woods, and Mary Poppins Returns.
Two-time Oscar-winning production designer John Myhre (X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men, Elizabeth), who worked with Rob on Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (which featured mermaids), Chicago, Nine, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Mary Poppins Returns.
Four-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Dumbo, Alice In Wonderland, Fantastic Beasts 1-2), who worked with Marshall on Chicago and Memoirs of a Geisha.
We don’t know when filming will begin but casting seems to be already underway with recent rumblings suggesting Disney has been interested in singers/actresses such as Zendaya (Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Lady Gaga (A Star Is Born) for lead roles, which isn’t terribly shocking as the film expected to be another musical with Alan Menken and Lin Manuel Miranda tackling the music side of things.
Disney has yet to give The Little Mermaid an official release date.
Rebellious 16-year-old mermaid Ariel (Jodi Benson) is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula (Pat Carroll) to become human for three days. But when plans go awry for the star-crossed lovers, the king must make the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter.

Maybe an actress in her 20s could play the role if she looks like she could pass for younger. Here's the most recent example I know of, Nicole Alyse Nelson: She's 23 and six years older then Alex Hook, yet is much shorter then her co-star. On the end, she's standing next to Sophia Forest, who is 12 and that gives you context as to how diminutive she is. So given this example, it might be possible to cast a slightly older actress as Ariel and have her believable as a teenager. I'm still uncertain if Zendaya could play Ariel, from what I remember of her appearances in K.C. Undercover, she was fairly tall, so they'd have to find a really tall actor to play Prince Eric if she was cast as Ariel. I've got the impression that no firm decision has been made and the actress playing live action Ariel hasn't been officially announced yet. Is this correct?

buckmana correct, casting has not been done yet. More information will be released at D23 this year (I wish I could attend!). The director, Rob Marshall, has a few ideas in mind but nobody has been cast or rumored to be offered a role yet. Based on what I'm hearing, I think they will go with a younger actress for Ariel- age 16-25 rather than 26-35. We also have a thread for dream-casting Ariel and Eric (I'll probably open this up to the full cast) for the live action film, if you wanna put your picks there as well! 👍 littleariel.proboards.com/thread/5734/options-actors-actresses-live-action

From HNEntertainment.com: EXCLUSIVE: Disney’s Live-Action ‘The Little Mermaid’ To Begin Production Spring 2020, Additional Details Revealed
Earlier this month we revealed that Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid had added visual effects supervisor Tim Burk (Fantastic Beasts) to oversee the VFX on this world under the sea. Now, we have a production update for you.
We have learned that production on the film is slated to begin next April, with the studio looking to wrap sometime in August. However, voice work on the film could begin as early as January 2020. As of now, the studio is currently looking at locations to film the project including the Cayman Islands, South Africa, as well as Maro, La Cala, Torre del Mar, Almayate, Chilches, Benajarafe, and Torrox. Another interesting tidbit on the project we were able to dig up is that Scuttle will not be a seagull as he appeared in the animated classic, instead Scuttle will be a diving bird so he can be in the underwater scenes.
There has been speculation that the role of Ariel in the remake was offered to Zendaya. When asked about the rumor during the Smallfoot press tour the actress simply stated: “we will see.” Lin-Manuel Mirada, who is set to team up with Alan Menken on the music for the film took to social media tease the project by simply putting a mermaid emoji, coincidently the mermaids skin color used was of color.
Another unconfirmed rumor was that music superstar Lady Gaga is high on Disney’s wish list for a role in the film. Most likely the role of Ursula.
As of right now, there is no release date for the film. We expect to hear more news on this project at Disney’s bi-annual D23 Expo this August.

Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda were working on the film's new songs. Alan Menken wrote: We’re off and swimming! Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote: What’s a fire, and why does it- what’s the word? Burn- WHEN’S IT MY TURN...

Lin also tweeted the mermaid emoji with dark skin 🧜🏿♀️, a possible hint on Ariel casting? It's all but confirmed that Ariel will be played by an actress of color at this point. I really do think Zendaya has been cast but hasn't been allowed to talk about it. From all the sources we've heard throughout the past 3 years, this just seems like what's going to happen. She's really really talented so I know she can do Ariel justice if she gets cast, despite the people throwing abuse at her about it. And of course the only reason I'm upset at all is that I didn't get my chance to audition, nor did anyone really, and this would've been a wonderful opportunity to bring to the spotlight a new performer who isn't already a household name, but Hollywood gotta do what Hollywood gotta do - I totally understand and can make my peace with this.

As LONG AS IT IS NOT LOHAN...………………………………………………………. Buy if wer gonna go down this route a suggestion from recent viewing Meagan Good she plays Shazam Darla (adult people) and DEFINETLY HAS THE ENTHUIASM to rival Ariel
Or how bout Asian? they could go the Polynesian way here thus Moana's Auli'l Carvalho to the part right age DEFINETLY
A better way to do this would make ERIC a man of color thus showing that a mermaid is neither judgemental or biased just does not think things through
But unlke most who post here I have been with Ariel since the beginning in 1989 with connections to this film in more ways then you can imagine and with the Disney company longer
In 1979 The Disney made the film Black hole to capitalize on Star Wars NOW They own it And in 1979 Disney could have gone into a black hole and been forgoteen by 1985 due to finances did not happen
PLUS Disney has a love HATE relationship with this film since 1989 (I KNOW what I am talking about) PLUS with the release of Live Aladdin and Lion King those films success OR failure are gonna be a factor here
Just gotta wait and see
