I don't believe I've ever seen Treasure Planet the whole way through, but I've heard so many people say that it's such an underrated Disney film. Hopefully I can remember to rent it someday! Atlantis, however, I have seen, and I really liked it! I liked the characters, and the storyline, the animation... I remember my favorite character was the one obsessed with explosives, I forget his name... but he was so funny! And I think Kida was a very strong female lead, different than a lot of the other Disney girls I think in multiple ways, making her very interesting. The only thing I realized watching it semi recently is it does kind of feel like it starts to drag toward the end. And the villains, I forget the male one, but I think the female was Helga, for some reason irritated me. I know they're villains, but normally Disney villains are likeable in weird ways, or at least interesting or funny.

Has anyone visited Disney's California Adventure recently? They opened up a new Little Mermaid ride, which will also be added to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando along with the new Fantasyland expansion! I recently visited California and was lucky enough to see Disneyland and California Adventure. I was SO excited to finally be able to ride TLM ride since I've researched it and have been keeping up with the updates being released for the new Fantasyland. I thought the ride was very well done, and had such an amazing feel to it. One thing I noticed while on the ride though was one of the Ariel animatronics. I'll show you what I mean: This is what Ariel's hair originally looked like in one of the scenes on the ride - www.insidethemagic.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/5792044342_4f1191db0f_b.jpgBut when I got on the ride, I saw this - 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3u6z8RjYN1qjrmm3o1_500.jpgWhen I got back home I looked into it and found out that many fans had been criticizing the look of the hair in the first picture, comparing it to an ice cream cone or beehive. Fact of the matter is, the reason behind that hair do was because of inspiration directly from a scene in the film - www.insidethemagic.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/hair.jpgI personally preferred the first photo because it was different and was supposed give off that underwater feeling. What do you guys think? Has anyone else been on the ride? If not, are you excited to ride it someday, whether it be in Orlando or California?

So, I have gone to see this movie twice in theaters and enjoyed both showings! I'd love to give a lengthy review, but shall spare you. But honestly, the movie was amazing. Before going to see it I had... lets say medium expectations. I knew it couldn't match TLM or BATB, but I also knew it couldn't possibly be as bas as some of the sequels that have come out recently. The movie exceeded my expectations and officially restored my faith in Disney. It gave me goosebumps in certain parts! And the music was just amazing. None of those overly sappy songs, or ones that go on far too long, just perfect! The characters were wonderful as well. From the previews I had seen I thought that the alligator Louis was going to annoy me, but he didn't! Same goes for the lightning bug Ray, and Ma ma Odie. I definitely suggest people go out to see it ASAP! It was worth the ticket for sure. I mean, obviously it was to me since I saw it twice. XD

Jazzy, that was amazing. Basically exactly what I wanted to say, but for some reason I felt the need to write half a dozen paragraphs. XD

My point was that we didn't need to know the gender of Simba and Nala's cub. Like I said, the audience seeing these films usually isn't interested in what goes on behind closed doors. We saw that Simba and Nala ended up together and had a child. The ending scene was a reprise of the opening scene, showing "the circle of life." So, we get the point, the circle of life goes on, I personally felt there was no need to go into detail with a sequel.
Same goes for TLM. We saw Ariel and Eric ride off on their wedding ship, living happily ever after. Why do we need to see what happens afterwards? Of course as I already said, this is just my opinion. I feel like sequels more so than not end up being repetitive and unoriginal. The only sequel made by Disney that I feel either matched or surpassed the magic of the first was Toy Story. Because they went in a whole new direction instead of repeating history. I wanted to see what was going to happen to these beloved toys of Andy's.
Anyway, I got off topic mentioning other sequels. But again that's why I prefer Ariel to Melody, and why I think she's more successful as a character.

I think Ariel being the original is a HUGE part of it. She's loved by generations and generations since The Little Mermaid was so successful when it was first released. The sequel wasn't even released to theaters, it went straight to DVD, which therefore cut out a lot of attention it could have gotten if it had been in the media more.
The whole story has a lot to do with it too. In the Little Mermaid, it was about a spunky mermaid who wanted something more than life was offering. She found the love of her life, and was determined to be with him. The movie just had this magic that is impossible to recreated. Especially if it's based off the original heroine's daughter/son.
The majority of the time, audiences want their happy ending and want it to be the END. Real life goes on, that's why movies are made as entertainment, a sort of escape from the real world. Most people aren't interested in the kids Ariel and Eric had, they just wanted to see them ride off into the sunset sharing true love's kiss.
But, Disney felt the need to introduce the sequel... not sure why. It reminds me of the Lion King II, it's one of those things that if allowed could just keep going and going. Muffasa has Simba, Simba encounters struggles through his life but in the end beats the bad guy and gets the girl. Him and his love have their daughter, the end. No. The sequel comes out and the daughter of Simba now has adventures of her own, meets her mister right, defeats the bad guy/girl, and then has a child of her own. What next? History keeps repeating!
So, it's the same with TLM. Ariel has a daughter, blah blah blah, eventually Melody has a daughter/son who goes through similar things as both his/her grandmother and mother. It's just not the same as the original. So, yeah. haha I feel like I'm just rambling. It made sense in my head. ;P
Basically Ariel was the original little mermaid. The movie was just so huge, and the ending was good. There was no need for a sequel, so it wasn't able to duplicate the success, and Melody did not receive the same welcome as Ariel.

I made two with Ariel and Melody. The first one is a blend of pictures of them together: And the second is more simple, with just a couple of pictures of Melody and Ariel from the original movie:

Thanks so much guys! :] I attempted Ariel and Queen Athena... it came out a little messy because it was difficult to find good quality screencaps of Athena. But here it is!

Oh my gosh! I love the tank tops and the ring! Hot Topic always has awesome stuff. All of the Ariel stuff seems to be on sale as well. Most of their stuff is expensive, like $22 shirts and stuff. These are good deals though! Looks like I'll be making a trip to the Mall soon.

That is awesome! The people I work for have a small fish bowl and for a while they had a Little Mermaid figure similar to that one inside of it. Very cool. If I had any fish I'd get it.
